The portion was generous and easily large enough to share. The sandwich was flavorful, featuring mustard aioli, pickles, ham, Havarti cheese, and pork. The bread was especially delicious--perfectly toasted, crispy on the outside while still soft on the inside. The fries and dipping sauce weren't my favorite, but the sandwich more than made up for it. Since we had our dog with us and wanted to continue enjoying the festival, we ate outside. The staff even brought our food out to us, which was appreciated. Everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and made with quality ingredients. It's a quaint neighborhood deli with over 100 years of history, which is why I kept giving it chance after chance. I've ordered from this deli many times. They have frequently gotten my order wrong, but I never complained. I simply accepted it and moved on. On Father's Day, I ordered three egg sandwiches around 10:00 a.m. I arrived at 10:30 to pick them up and still waited another 15 minutes. After spending about $35, the order was wrong. Again, I let it go. Today was the final straw. I ordered two egg sandwiches and a small deli iced tea for delivery. The total was $33 before tip. The owner, John, delivered the order himself. He rang my Ring doorbell twice but never knocked. We completed the exchange without issue. When I opened the bag, the order was wrong--again. I called and politely asked to speak with the owner. I explained that my order had been made incorrectly. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, John hung up on me. I called back three more times, and each time either he or his staff hung up on me. I drove to the deli to speak with him face-to-face. His response was simply, "That's unfortunate," and he refused to remake the sandwiches or offer any refund or solution. Everyone makes mistakes. What separates a good business from a bad one is how those mistakes are handled. I wasn't angry about an incorrect sandwich--I was shocked by the complete lack of customer service, accountability, and basic respect. After years of overlooking mistakes and trying to support a local business, this experience has guaranteed I will never return. There are plenty of delis that appreciate their customers and stand behind their service. Unfortunately, Maple St. Deli isn't one of them.

I don't think that the people working here understood the severity of this and they offered a refund of the meal that we threw away. Wow, how generous! I spoke to the manager and she just said sorry and that the owner would contact us. We wound up having to go to the hospital over this, after just leaving with our newborn. What a day. It's been a week and my husband has stopped by the talk to the owner but she hasn't been there and has not called, emailed, or done anything since. I don't care if she is busy, it honestly doesn't matter, this is important and I needed some reassurance that this would never happen again to anyone since someone else could have died from this but that never happened. I guess she is just too busy to care. Unfortunately, this is a local business that I used to love but I will never come back and would advise anyone with a food allergy to go somewhere else.
