We checked out Summit City after visiting Appalshop for the Moth. Upon entering, we realized there was no clear directions on if we seated ourselves, ordered food from the bar, ordered food from a waitress - so we asked another couple dining close by and they said a waitress would come to us. We waited with no service, so we went to the bar and ordered food and drinks. We ordered almost every appetizers they had just to sample everything and the food was pretty good for bar food. However, we never had an opportunity for refills or anything else. Honestly, it would've been a pretty great experience if the service had been better. The atmosphere was good, the food was good, the live music wasn't my taste but still cool, but the service and feeling of not really being welcome in the bar really turned me off - and it wasn't busy. I'd be interested in trying it out again and doing an updated review.

There's a large "patio area" out front so during the summer they have a small stage with local bands, tables/chairs set up, and a small bar. Money was wasted and I'm embarrassed to know this is a hometown venue. My boyfriend and I will never attend this venue ever again, let me explain. I understand the venue had policies HOWEVER, The staff was the most rudest and unprofessional individuals I have ever met and I've been to a ton of shows. The way I saw you speak to the majority of us simply put, you were dicks. We were told ridiculous things like, you are in a fire hazard area while someone stood 2 feet away. Anytime anyone stood anywhere you were told to have a seat. I'm there to watch bands play, but no one could enjoy it because they were constantly having a bunch of piss ants jump all over them. This venue sold GA for the entire show but did not list this in the sale that the pit would be shut off as first come first serve. To everyone's surprise, you suddenly were forced to have a seat and told you couldn't stand. Who sits down at a metal show, unless you purposely wanted to buy seats?! Kicking people out for crowd surfing when the band was encouraging it? What a complete and utter joke, don't forget we help pay your salaries. I've read other reviews, this clearly is an ongoing problem so my suggestion, if your band isn't some country duo don't even bother with this pathetic place. They don't deserve the money and I regret supporting anything other than the bands.

Every little rural town should have a place to eat as good as this one! We were driving through…read moreAppalachia and ended up in the little town of Big Stone Gap around lunch time, and ended up here. it's surprisingly big, with a large spacious dining area and bar and sports viewing area in the back. The decor is minimalist but nice and the seating is comfortable. Service was a little slow, but pleasant. But the food itself was unexpectedly good! Their French Dip burger was excellent. It's rare to find French Dip sandwiches using traditional roast beef these days, as roast beef has been replaced by barbequed beef or pulled pork. Here they applied the French Dip concept to a well-prepared beef burger. The au jus was excellent and when the burger was dipped into it -- it was soooo good. As a side, the fire-roasted corn was out of this world, too. Whatever spices they put on the roasted corn really take it to the next level. Also amazing was their Cajun pasta with broccoli and chicken (added on). The sauce was stated as being alfredo with Cajun spices, but it tasted to me almost like a combination of pesto and alfredo. I've had Cajun style pasta sauce in many restaurants and it usually has what you'd expect in terms of Cajun seasoning. Here I'm not even sure I'd describe it as Cajun really, but whatever seasoning they put in the sauce, they should patent it. The chicken was well-grilled, tender and tasty and the broccoli pieces were also wonderful. On top were two pieces of perfectly baked Italian style bread that I used to soak up every bit of that incredible pasta sauce. Even though this place it basically 3 hours from where I live, if I'm ever anywhere near here again, I'd go back in a heartbeat!

We wanted to attend the Billiards Tournament but it was canceled due to illness. This place is more an event venue that what you would expect for a restaurant. It has two full bars inside, a outside tiki bar, a large dance floor and outside stage. So if you enjoy concerts and other similar events, this place is for you. This may be suited best for large groups. Also if they are having a concerts, if you just plan on having a drink, (Cover is $12.00) don't expect to get in if you are not interested in the concert. it wold be more geared toward, girls night out, game night or karaoke, it may be a great place. Coleslaw was very good. French fries were hot, soft, and not crisp. The building is really awesome. An actual ice house converted into a large area with a stage for band, and another smaller room. We enjoyed the decor and ramp to use. Cute outhouse at entrance by the ramp. Service was excellent as we were the only customers at 4:00 pm. Very friendly.

However, this place clearly gets packed in the evening. There were lots of brews and ciders. They seem to rotate quite a bit, and there's a mix between local options and options from other states. A huge plus is very LGBTQ+ friendly without explicitly being a queer spot. Rainbows everywhere. The bartender told us that a local podcast offered to make them coasters and he said yes, but only if they make them as queer as possible. They were playing some alt music on a record. Also, locals were super friendly and engaged us tourists in convo. Lastly, there's a limited selection of games- so we played a little trivia game and had fun with it. Overall, I would definitely include this spot when bar hopping again. It is an easy walking distance of a lot of great stuff and it was easy enough to get to, even though it isn't on the main drag. It's on a small, one way side street but there was parking nearby. When we approached the front door we instantly noticed they were LGBTQ+ friendly which made it even better. Our stop was early in the evening, probably around 5 so it wasn't busy. We were greeted by a friendly bartender and he gave us time to look over the menu. My first choice was the Limonada Hard Italian Soda. This was absolutely delicious! The tartness from the lemons was noticeable but not over powering and this was a very drinkable beverage. I don't like seltzers at all, yes this wasn't a seltzer but it did have a bit of carbonation that I did not mind. The other customers inside were friendly but not awkward, especially for us being the only 2 women in there at the moment the bartender was super friendly and they had a nice selection of local brews from the area. My wife ordered a peanut butter and jelly beer from the Knoxville TN area as her 2nd drink. PB & J beer doesn't sound so appealing but OMG it was phenomenal. It was the perfect balance and tasted like a PB&J liquid sandwich. Honestly I can wait until I find some in the store nearby. This is a nice, no frills, friendly stop yo grab a drink in Bristol.
