Summit Orthopedics works closely with Sibley Hospital so I was able to schedule a Monday morning surgery and overnight stay at the hospital. The Nurse Navigator Supervisor at Sibley provided information on Pre-Op procedures and an appointment with Sarah, Summit's Nurse Practitioner, involved a review of the surgical procedures and the list of medications with a review of frequency. Dr. Siram brought together a great surgical team comprised of the Sibley Hospital Orthopedic doctors and nursing staff and an anaesthesiologist. The first nurse assigned to my post-Op care placed top priority on Pain Control and coordinated a meeting with In-House PT/OT Team to review and practice the Post-Operative exercises. I completed 2 weeks of In-Home physical therapy with Potomac Home Health Care, affiliated with Johns Hopkins and Sibley. The PT specialist was exceptional: checked vitals; reviewed my medications; provided a home exercise plan that helped me to begin walking with and without a cane, before starting In Office Post-Op PT. Late Tuesday, just before our flight, we learned that the required CT scan had not been completed as prescribed. Without it, Dr. Lutton could not proceed. His schedule was booked solid, and we feared the worst. But we reached out to his office, explained the urgency, and hoped for a miracle. Enter Valerie, Dr. Lutton's surgical coordinator--and the unsung hero of this story. Valerie and the entire team at Washington Circle Orthopedics sprang into action. While we were boarding our flight Wednesday morning, we received word that they had secured a CT scan appointment in DC the day before surgery. Valerie instructed us to drop off the CD immediately after the scan so Dr. Lutton could personally review and complete the templating between his other surgeries. The coordination, compassion, and sheer determination of this team were awe-inspiring. The surgery went forward as scheduled, without a hitch. Dr. Lutton's skill and precision were matched only by the warmth and professionalism of his staff. Today, my mother is recovering beautifully, free from the constant pain that had plagued her for years. She calls it the best birthday gift she could have hoped for. This wasn't our first experience with Dr. Lutton's brilliance. Three and a half years ago, he performed a reverse shoulder replacement on my right shoulder and my mother's left shoulder. Both procedures were flawless, and the outcomes life-changing. That history made it all the more important for us to return to him--and he and his team delivered once again. My initial appointment was a frightening time for me and although the condition that brought me there didn't turn out to be serious, Dr. Kurzrok took it seriously. I found him via the Washingtonian magazine's best list, which has always done me right. He has several locations and I went to the Providence hospital one. At one point, he wasn't sure what was going on and referred me to someone he felt was a better doctor. I've since come back to Dr Kurzrok because of his personality. He challenged me to be healthier as a means of avoiding further incidents and while I can see how that might come off as abrasive to some people, it was just what I needed.

We traveled from Bethesda to Washington Hospital Center specifically for those appointments. After we arrived, we were told that only my appointment existed. The staff then informed my wife that she had supposedly been removed from the practice because of an unspecified incident from about 10 years ago. No one could explain what had happened or why she had never been informed before we made the trip. I questioned why this had not been addressed before we drove into Washington and why no one could provide a clear explanation. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or apologizing for the confusion, the response became even more troubling. Although I had a scheduled appointment, Dr. Kruzrok came out personally and told me that he would not be seeing me either. From my perspective, my appointment was canceled because I respectfully stood up for my wife and questioned how we had been treated. Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath? Rather than provide the medical care I had traveled there to receive, Dr. Kruzrok chose not to see me. That decision was deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, inconsistent with the professionalism and compassion patients should expect from a physician. The issue here is bigger than one doctor. It reflects a culture of poor communication, lack of accountability, and disregard for patients' time. We rearranged our day, traveled into Washington, D.C., and left without either of us receiving the care we had scheduled. I found Dr. Kruzrok's demeanor to be smug and self-righteous, and his handling of this situation fell far short of what I expect from a physician. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in either Dr. Kruzrok or MedStar Health, and I cannot recommend either.

This is the worst PT unit I've used and I speak as one having done years of PT In the area . The…read morestaff uses a lot of trainees who are randomly called on during your session with the actual PT who seems to have several clients at one time and can't focus on you . The aides seem incompetent and often don't know what your warmup routine is or what you're there for, as if the information is not updated for your visit. Also, some of the therapists seem over aggressive in their treatments, and as an older patient I don't and can't do heavy weights and frankly I got worse going to my sessions. They also leave you unsupervised for gaps of time where no one can correct your form or take your heavy weight from you. The therapists also are always having in depth conversations about sports, their weekends, their lives, their pets, as they 'work' on you and seem unfocused and careless about their jobs. The front desk staff is also rude and disrespectful at times and there is always a backlog of patients waiting to be checked in! I came here because it's close to my house and i have used a doctor from this practice for years but I've now found other options for my treatment and PT!

When I called to make the appointment the receptionist was very pleasant and tried to get me an appointment relatively quickly, but I explained my condition is chronic so no rush. The day before my appointment I received a reminder call asking that I arrive 30 minutes before my appointment time for new patient registration. Well, now I know why. A lot of pages of forms to fill out regarding my health history, insurance, and pain measurement assessment. The front desk employees were pleasant and I was called back by my physical therapist on time. He was very thorough and professional, and even chuckled at some of my lame jokes. Based on my doctor's assessment and his physical findings, he started me on some exercises with more to follow. So out comes my dusty exercise mat, but at least my visit to NRH physical therapy was relatively easy.
