She did a fine job, but left out some steps (like the add-on that I paid for online before the appointment and the hand and arm massage). I have a feeling she ran out of time. But when I signed up for the facial online, it was allotted for an hour and a half. But she finished in an hour. When I asked her about the add-on, she was unaware of it and admitted that she "did not check (her) notes" before my appointment. That is probably something I wouldn't admit to the client. And I found it odd that I filled out an intake form online and then had to fill out another (paper) intake upon arrival. And while the esthetician did an ok job, she needs to finesse her massage technique. I am former licensed massage therapist and wanted to coach her on some simple and effective massage techniques. Her massage strokes were incomplete and her hands felt a little clumsy. But I feel she will get there, in time, as she gains more confidence with each client. Otherwise, it's a peaceful and well-curated space - a lovely oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Bend. I will definitely be back for the Japanese scalp treatment!

As someone who's received rolfing for close to 30 years, this form of myofascial release massage was a wonderful blend of rolfing and massage. I could feel my fascia release several times throughout the massage and I'm excited to regularly incorporate this type of therapy into my massage treatments! I also saw Isata recently for a craniosacral massage and it was also amazing! It was so good that while I was on the table I thought to myself I must have paid for a 90 minute massage because it felt like I had been there for that long, but it was only 60 minutes! Lol. I've been struggling with neck and head tension that's affecting cranial nerves and this massage definitely helped. Headed back this weekend for a follow up! 2023: I went to see Sam when I was having serious shoulder and neck tightness that was causing tension headaches. She was great! She used the perfect amount of pressure and deep tissue therapy while also not making it too painful. A skill that is sometimes hard to come by. She is one of the better massage therapists I've seen in my 25 years of getting regular massage. I was stunned to learn she's only been doing massage for a couple years. Unfortunately we didn't get to make it to bend for our massages we had booked for my boyfriends…read morebirthday. But I had to get on here and leave a good review because of my experience with the staff at Anjou Spa. We were on our way to Bend from California early Saturday morning and 2 hours into our drive we hit a deer that ran right front of us at 70+ mph totaling out car. After making sure everyone was ok and we contacted insurance and tow company one of the first things I thought of was the air bnb and massages at a spa we booked and paid for. I also work as a cosmetologist at a salon and spa so I immediately wanted to let the spa know we weren't gonna be able to make it as soon as possible. The reception Was very understanding and checked to make sure we were all ok and apologized that it happened to us and so graciously (without argument ) refunded our "non refundable" deposit. They definitely did NOT have to do that as i agreed to the deposit and the salons terms and completely understand since I am I service provider myself who works at a salon that also enforces a cancellation policy. Their compassion for our situation was truly amazing and I am very grateful for their understanding and willingness to refund our deposit making our situation a little less painful.. I will absolutely be happy to book With them again in the near future when we can finally make it to bend. Top tier customer service and we are so appreciative. Thank you Anjou Spa! See you soon
