We booked a week during the 4th of July week. Traded our timeshare week through RCI. We were traveling from Iowa, and I knew we were going to be pushing the 5:00 late check in time. We arrived at 4:50, our check in details were already at the guard post. The gal that helped us was super friendly, gathered our packet, instructed us on where to drive to get to Villa #7. We get to our villa to find multiple cars parked in our spots. We decide to go up and get in first. Guess what? I have absolutely no idea how to get in. Nothing was explained to me. I called the after hours number, gentleman told me that the code to the door is located on the bottom right hand corner of the map I was given. Sure enough there it was. We entered it, no go on either pin pad. I call the after hours number and the gentleman came and told us to try another code, and it worked. We ask about the cars and he doesn't know, will look into it. The place is spacious, but very dated. We were 3 couples and appreciated having our own bathrooms. The cute "apartment" downstairs in the laundry room was nice. Amenities were great, just watch out for that grass with burrs around the shuffleboard. Made for a very funny story. We enjoyed the pool, putt putt, and decks. The beds weren't the best, but we figured it out. The kitchen was stocked, kind of. I cooked most of our food while there and I appreciated what was stocked. A couple of suggestions, replace that warped teflon pan and add a hand mixer. Oh, and some sharp knives would be a big plus! All in all, we had a good time, made great memories and enjoyed our time spent. That white building on River Rd across from 7-11 that serves BBQ is really good. Also the Smokeshow coffee was awesome as well as the breakfast sandwiches at Sweetie's. read more

We had a great experience at this resort! We stayed for a weekend in the treehouse home during the spring. The home is a large size and is able to accommodate 8 people. There were two bedrooms on the main level and a balcony like room with two beds. The living room was a decent size. On the ground floor, you'll find the private jacuzzi and bathroom. The property is huge and the amenities are nice. The kids got to swim at both of their pools, do mini golf, play basketball, go to an on-site playground and we got to walk to the lake access area. read more

I had an amazing relaxing stay the last week of October. The weather has been warmer than usual, so the pools were still open. We stayed in one of the 3 bedroom Tree Top Villas. Not a lot of guests on the property the week we stayed, so all was peaceful and quiet. I loved the view from our deck. A lot of fat satisfied deer in TX Hill country this fall because the live oak trees were loaded with acorns! There is nice access to the Guadalupe River, but the property is rather large so we drove down the steep hill to the river. Now the negative... Wi-Fi didn't work well at all, so most of the time I wasn't connected. Not really a problem when wanting to get away from work. It was only a problem when getting gps to work when planning activity offsite. I'd have to leave first and then set my address. The unit we stayed is was pleasant enough, but the carpet was either stained badly, or just needed to be cleaned. The dresser in my bedroom was an aggravating rickety rattle-trap. And it doesn't matter to me, but the decor could use an update. By the way...there is a LOWES grocery store nearby. River Road takes longer to get to New Braunfels, but it's a beautiful drive. Don't believe the pictures! As you enter the dirty front door, you are greeted by the smell of dingy, which can only mean cleanliness is lacking. From the chair and couch in the living room, that hasn't been cleaned in who knows how long to the trash under the chair and couch. Fun! Then, lets talk about the carpet and baseboards... both look like they haven't seen cleaner since the 80's. Oh, you have more than 2 people... well the others will need to stand when enjoying the patio. Sleeps 10 but you won't be able to sit with each other when you cook dinner. Want to use a towel to dry off after the 2 strands of water come flowing from the showerhead... Here you go, use the mold smelling towel from the cabinet that well, we're unsure when that was last cleaned. Enjoy your stay, just don't touch anything. read more

I liked everything.The family liked everything. The only thing the hot tub was broken and no wheel chair ramp down by the fishing area. Everything else was nice. Clean. Well kept. Friendly staff. Lift up the mattress... it is literally a half a piece of plywood that doesn't even extend the full width of the bed. Super uncomfortable, you will have crazy backache if staying more than one night. Also, prices have doubled since the pandemic and the staff are, as others have already mentioned, arude. Area is really nice though. read more

We stayed for five weeks this fall after moving from an overcrowded resort in New Braunfels. Canyon Lale is a great setting for water activities, hiking trails, dining and close enough to explore Austin, San Antonio and the beautiful surrounding hill country. This resort property was a dream. We were at the campground where far shower building was a nice well kept cabin structure. Men had a separate one and laundry third cabin. The campsites were far enough apart and there were deer frolicking daily in the campground. The walk to Guadalupe River by the cabins was manageable or an easy drive past the office. Thé tennis court and pool were a dream and very underutilized which we loved. Manual in front office was so helpful. We stocked up on everything due to our long stay and he was always happy to share our packages from back storage room with a smile. He was so informative and a stellar host manager! Alex also was very nice as we toured the propriety and the Summit is lucky to have him! We hope to be back but highly recommend this resort for RVs. read more

Took a trip all the way from Cali and loved this little camp site. Very clean and well taken care of for the RV area. Bathrooms were super clean with showers that were just as clean. Playgrounds for kids were run down, Pools were clean. Lady at front desk cant hear anything when asking questions but was friendly. read more

Great R & R vacation. We stayed from a M-Thursday. There were 7 of us. We had villa #12. The Villa is outdated BUT this didnt bother us AT ALL. (Just mentioning incase you are one it will) Villa was clean and had everything you needed for your stay. This villa is awesome location as you can see one of the pools from your Villa...It shares a parking lot with this villa. Only disappointment to Villa #12 was there was NO GRILL anywhere close at all and huge trash dump piles behind us full of old furniture. However, seriously we still had a great time and will be back again renting the same Villa probably. (Be ready to unplug as there is NO service unless you stand in a rock in villa #12 parking lot ha! No working wifi again didnt bother us! ) this is a place to come to if you are looking to unplug and good ol' rest and relaxation! Perfect for what we were looking for. read more

If I could choose zero stars I would. I first made a reservation yesterday around 8pm. Received my confirmation email and the link that goes over details of stay. No where on the email or link does it provide any information on late check-in or late night staff being available when arriving. Nor does the email specify if there's questions to call a certain number or look at the frequently asked questions on website. As a first timer, I would hope the staff would be understanding and reschedule my visit for the following weekend. The lady over the phone then states for a rescheduling fee and even starts arguing with me over the information that I received. She stated that if I didn't find the information I was looking for on my confirmation email that I should've gone on their website?!? Like what?!? Shouldn't all the information and details be on my confirmation email!? Definitely not ever scheduling here again and I'll make sure to tell all my peers! This is not ok. Why would I risk a 3 hour drive not knowing all the details?? Details should be all in one email not having to scourge through websites. Also, the lady tried to compare it to a Hotel lol LAST I CHECKED HOTELS ANSWER THEIR LINES AT ALL TIMES AND THEIR INFORMATION IS ALL ON ONE CONFIRMATION EMAIL. Very disappointed customer. read more

This location is 12 miles off of I-35 and if you are looking for wilderness this is defiantly the place to camp. The property is divided into several different sections. There is a nice pool area with a slide and hot tub. The property features multiple showers and laundry facilities along with cabins for those that don't have a camper. There is 24-hour security that frequently drive through the property. I arrived late and was shown to my site by the security and even provided a little help hooking up in the dark. There is a gated RV section that provides gravel pad sites and paved roads. The back in slots appear to me to be a little more shady as they are in the tree line. These sites from what I could tell are not level. The sites have 30/50 amp, sewer, and there is wifi. Im not sure if there is cable available, but I do know my site does not have it. The pull through sites seem to have a little less tree coverage and my provide easier access for your satellite signal. You will see many deer roaming the property and are not easily frightened thus providing the ability to take some real nice photos. read more

The front office staff is not professional. Rude as hell when asking politely about things. It's a nice spot but I would avoid it. *update* We went in to pay our fee, but the guy (not sure of his name) was just plain rude about asking about the number of people who were there and just not polite at all. We had a kayak to drop off regardless if he had stated "no" to us, we had to return it to the rightful owner. IF the gentleman had asked about this, instead of the RUDE or unnecessary comments...we would have been on our way after dropping off the kayak. The staff was very sarcastic with the "HAVE A GREAT DAY" and the attitude of them changed when given the wristbands. No one was trespassing...now I understand if I didn't go to the office to pay and just drove in THAT would be trespassing. It is also sad they even mentioned to other guest (friends of ours) our lots were giving them problems and asked why we wrote a negative review when they allowed us in at no cost. Why is this being mentioned to other guest that we know? How unprofessional? I was going to change my review today since I have arrived home and settled in but now...I won't be. We will not be returning and my review still stands. ***I see on these reviews "that man" is mentioned. I hope you guys talk about customer service with him because HE IS RUDE and reflects your guest opinions on their stay. read more

We attempted to stay at this resort and arrived on Monday evening at about 5:30pm. There was nobody around. After waiting about 30+ minutes a young man did show up and gave us the keys to our Cabin. He advised us that the pool was closed for the day but we could do everything else. Not a problem, we got unpacked and decided to tour the property. Mind you I have my 3 kids with me and we go for a stroll. The first thing we noticed was the pool was full of people. We were told it was closed. We walked around the pool and the people were having a good time but with Glass Beer bottles in and around the pool. There were kids playing, yet they didn't seem to care if someone were to break one at the pool. Where was the supervision from the Resort? We weren't going there with that. We continued walking towards the river and as we made our way down, each and every trash can was full of food and bottles so much it was spewing on to the ground. Literally everywhere. I realize it was 4th of July weekend but this was 6:30 pm or so July 5th. Obviously, cleaning wasn't a priority as there was throw-up on the stairs leading down to the river. With so much disgust we didn't even go down there. We tried to have a BBQ at the back of our lodge. 1st we had to clean up the mess left behind from the previous stay (which should not be our responsibility) but as we attempted to cook and have a family outing the scene just became too much. At one point there was at least 30 people running around the Mini Putt course. Some were family but most were not. These 2 guys were running, dragging an Ice Chest and shot gunning beers at each hole for the loser. Mind you I have my 3 kids with me again out there. As they came beside our table they practically begged me to give them some of my food and got to the point where we had to go inside and eat. At a table made for 3 and we had 7 people! Not an ideal BBQ inside a cabin!! We decided to call it a day and start fresh in the morning only to be up till about 3am because the cabin next to us thought partying all night with loud music would be ideal for everyone around them. We were then awoken about 8:30 to loud saws and tree cutting. I went out and saw a line of Tree trucks going about their daily business as if they were disturbing anyone. We had barely 5+ hrs sleep and now this. It was the last straw. We were here for a vacation, not a party. I am all for having a good time but this was not a place for my kids or family to be at for 3 days. The lack of security, trash and disgust as well as no Property management meant people could do as they please here. And they did. We packed up and left by 11am after 1 night. read more

He gave us a ride back to where our car was (no ubers or lyfts we're available) if it wasn't for him we would've been stranded. Thankyou so much for helping us, you are the best!!!! I made reservations for a Tree Top Villa 5 months in advance, had to cancel 90 days in advance due to scheduling conflicts and had the worst customer service experience of my life. At the time of my reservations-I was not provided with any verbal cancellation policy, nor was I provided IN WRITING via email or US Mail with a receipt, a confirmation number, or information outlining the cancellation policy. Only when I contacted the office to cancel my reservation was I informed of the policy and provided with a receipt. (none of which showed where they actually sent me the initial confirmation) After multiple emails and their denial of a refund, I left it in the hands of my bank to resolve. To make matters worse, they automatically charged me for the remaining balance of my "stay" the day I would have checked in. When I disputed this charge with Summit by replying to the cancellation email chain, the office manager's response was that my reservation was never officially cancelled but she would refund me the fees charged on the supposed day of my check in. read more

We have come to this vacation resort three times. The first couple of times we stayed in a cabin and this time we stayed in a villa. We love coming here. The staff is friendly, the property is well equipment for all ages, and close to activities and food. The villa is spacious and fully stocked. The only issue I had this time was the cleanliness. A previous guest had left fake fingernails on the window in the bathroom and there was what appeared to be vomit on the handicap ramp. The cleaning staff definitely needs to be a little more thorough but I would still recommend this facility to family and friends. read more

I really wanted to like this place for my family. We booked a week in the RV Park. This place seems run down - pools are not clean (the baby pool appears to not have a filtration system), slide broken, hot tub not working, lots of stickers and over grown grass. The miniature golf area is not maintained at all. The seating area in the shade is limiteThere's a 5 mph speed limit but it seems the security and maintenance people are the exception nor do they enforce it as we witnessed plenty of guests speeding through (especially motorcyclist). Guest services seemed annoyed to be burdened with questions. We have been to many parks and this one had no WiFi whatsoever (even though it advertises free services) nor could we use internet / hotspot while at the park. We checked w/ our service provider and they said it was the area. It was just more of an inconvenience since we needed to work over the wkd. They seem to cater to their members but even meeting a family whom were members, they were displeased w/ how the park is currently being run. In response to mgr, it's not up to guests to report that your employees or other guests are speeding through the campsite. Perhaps have someone monitor and handle accordingly. There was NO wi-if whatsoever, it was not that it was not up to our needs. Lastly, what about addressing the rest of my review and the unkept / run - down conditions ? read more

We are members here as local land owners and the customer service has declined from a spot where it really wasn't great in the first place. We took a float trip and when we arrived to our spot to begin, we were short the tubes we purchased. The tubes were to come on the next van but the office denied that and so the Shanty stepped in and provided us tubes. i give the Shanty 5 STARS for their customer service. Upon returning from our float, the office staff was rude, never offered to reimburse me and avoided any opportunity to problem solve, resolve the situation or even take ownership of the problems. There were several comments made that this seems to be a reoccurrence, yet they do not believe they are the common factor in the problem. read more

Out of the 4 showers, only one of them was usable in the villa, which was the downstairs one you have to walk outside to get to, which was barely usable. The water pressure was so poor in the entire house the showers just dripped out a few drops of water. We were in villa #12. The kitchen sink also had such poor water pressure you could barely wash any dishes or even your hands. The toilets barely flush, and the carpet had several stains. We were given two less wrist bands than the amount of guests we had but we didn't bother saying anything because of how we were treated at check in and before arrival when calling the front desk for general questions about check in, since we weren't given any details before arriving, the guy that answered had an attitude every time and was very rude. The first night we had guests over from another house they were staying in, because we all traveled together but there was not a house big enough to sleep everyone so we rented two separate places but would gather at one in the evening. The security guard confronted us the first night and said "If I see anyone step foot out of this house again, you will be asked to checkout early" because we had more than 10 people, but the only 6 additional people we had didn't stay the night, were staying in a different house, and our villa was nowhere near other people where there could have been any kind of noise problem but either way we were making no noise. The same security guard stayed parked in front of our villa. All. Night. Long. Which is fine, because we weren't doing anything wrong, but it felt like harassment being watched the whole night and is wrong we couldn't even use our 3 outdoor sitting patio areas our villa came with because we "cannot step foot outside" of the villa we're paying $455/night for. A little bit down the street we could hear loud people partying and screaming outside of their villas down the row where all the other villas are side-by-side but he parked right in front of our villa facing us all night. Also, they only supply you one roll of paper towels for 10 people and supply no broom, dustpan, or any type of cleaning supplies but they ask that you wipe everything down and/or clean up anything sticky before you leave but with what? So we had to go out and buy paper towels and a multisurface cleaner. There were several spiders inside our villa throughout the stay and, thankfully a dead, scorpion inside as well. I get that we're right by the woods and water but a good bug spraying could have prevented this. The hot tub also did not work at the pool. This is my 8th river trip in a row with a large group, I was really hoping to return here because of the property amenities and location. I will say the wifi was exceptional though. The overnight security is the same guy we had the rude customer service before and at check in with and is the main reason we will never be staying here again. Also, because it's practically impossible to shower with dripping water but the one lady I talked to in the office the 2nd morning was very polite, helpful, and attentive and I hope that man does not reflect the rest of the staff. read more

This is an older resort, but it is a great deal. Queen size in the loft with 4 bunk beds downstairs. Full kitchen minus a microwave with all the cutlery, silverware, pots/pans you need. We personally did not receive any sales pitches and the staff was extremely helpful. We had a couple of minor issues (older cabin) and Robin, the maintenance man, showed up in less than five minutes on both occasions. I forgot my wallet at the cabin, which they promptly mailed back to me and would not accept compensation for the cost. read more

For the past 10+ years we have had membership here. Over the years it has gone completely down hill. The only positive thing I can say is that the poo were clean & the wild life is amazing.. Unfortunately, the lights in the pool didn't come on so we had to cut our fun short every night. Our cabin floors were dirty as can be. One of the chairs for our kitchen table broke as my mom was sitting in it. The table was wobbly & not to mention the lights in our bathroom had to be rewired as we were trying to enjoy our lunch. read more

This was such a great resort, very pretty, clean and wonderfully nice employees. I know the Summit has new owner and but the looks for think stuff got fix for what that last review is saying. Anyway lots to do hear like tennis, basketball, vallyball, swimming, mini golf and some other things. I stayed hear with my grandma, sister and 9 month old son for about 3 weeks and the only thing I kinda had a problem with was the pools were kinda cold but it was halloween time. They would fall into our food and our hair from the trees. Also, the pools were very disgusting. We enjoyed our stay at summit rv resort. We stayed in site 15 with our 35' travel trailer. The site was large enough to accommodate the trailer and our f250 crew cab. Good amount of space between sites. Our site backed up to a dry riverbed that made for a great view. There is lots to do here. There a couple of what looks like permanent residents but not many. Most were young families and everyone was polite. Pool facilities are nice but do show a bit of wear and tear. Our kids had a good time even though it was still cold. Played the mini golf coarse. It was fun but it was in rough shape and needs some updating. You could tell it had recently rained and caused the grass to grow suddenly. The staff was busy trying to get everything manicured again. All workers were nice and friendly. Price was right as it was a great value for that type of facility. We will be back. read more

We have been members for many years and have seen our maintenance fee steadily increase yet the property, amenities and services have steadily declined. Late check-in, higher rates, equipment not functioning correctly or at all. Rude staff, dirty pools and grounds that have seen better days. A change in ownership that we weren't notified of and complete lack of communication or even response to direct emails. We have invested too much to walk away. I'm giving 3 stars to this place just because of some staff members like the maintenance guys are very nice, friendly and helpful, and also because of the wildlife in there, the place is gorgeous, mother's nature work is just amazing, but the "but" in here is the horrible customer service they have at the office, the lack of manners and courtesy is huge, I went to do laundry and the first time one of the machines didn't go though all the laundry cycle, I even made a video on how everything was just soaking wet and dripping water everywhere, then the second week I did laundry and in three different machines the soap was just "glued" to all of the clothes, the maintenance guy was there so I had the chance to show him that, he told me to go to the office and ask for a refund, by the time I finish with laundry it was too late and the office was closed since I had to rewash all of the clothes with the soap, so when I went to the office next day I told them about the issue and that the maintenance guy was there and saw all, and that I had a video of the last week if they didn't believe me (because they game me the look that I was lying), then the lady in there said that it was ok and gave me the money back, but then an older lady with gray hair came out of the private and started asking me if the maintenance guy did anything about it (and her words were "and he didn't do shit right?"), and I told her he was changing the light bulbs in there. Anyhow, I left and I was feeling like a liar since they really believe me, then I get to the RV and 5 mins after I arrived my husband got a phone call from that lady saying that they asked a person who is a "regular" in there and that this person said that "that have never EVER had problems with the machines", so for next time I shouldn't bother in asking for a refund because they weren't gonna give me one, that I needed to change my laundry soap. So yeah, we are gone and gladly out of there, thanks for making me feel like a liar, they really need to improve customer service for sure! read more

This is a old resort with a few cabins and what they call condos. They sell "memberships" and "time shares" . They are not friendly .... especially if you decline their high pressured sales pitch. If you get a call from them to sit through a 90 minute presentation you might not want to waste your time. read more

My husband, son and I stayed for two nights over Christmas. It was a great getaway. The cabin was nice and had everything we needed to cook a small meal and relax. We didn't take advantage of the activities such as miniature golf because we had an infant with a short attention span. When we got tix to see Willie and Merle at the Whitewater Amphitheater we knew finding a place to crash nearby would be smart. There were 2 couples and 3 dudes so finding something to accommodate all of us was a little tricky, especially when a lot of the options were filling up quick. I found the Summit and the Villa bed situation worked perfectly, the price was way reasonable, $650 for everything for 2 nights, there was a 2 night minimum. The Villas have 2 bedrooms both with Queens and direct bathroom access, a loft with two full beds and small bathroom and a pull out couch. When I went to reserve it it was a bit like making a reservation in the 80's, no online situation, just a call to the office. I THINK they took my card info but the reservation email I was supposed to get never happened, did feel like I was putting a little faith that it all went through. The staff was always super nice and when they got a call from someone named Rachel that cancelled they called to make sure it wasn't me. That made me feel a little nervous so I made sure to get my confirmation # then. However when we arrived there were no issues, super easy quick check in and again the staff was great. They gave us the number for a shuttle to the concert and we were on our way. I have to say the interior furnishings/decor was straight 80's as well. It was like stepping into a time machine except there were flat screen TV's. :) However we found it to be very clean, comfortable and we weren't there to hang in the house anyways. It had 3 different porches which was wonderful, we sat outside the entire weekend the weather was so great. We didn't really check out the pool etc. but did fish and the river was close. Overall this was a great option that we all agreed was worth the price and would try again. I admit I got a little scared of some of the reviews, especially the time share situation, but no one mentioned anything like that to us. This place is not super fancy, however if you've spent any time in this area I feel like most of the lodging is similar, so much was developed in the 80's that there are a lot of places like this, reminded me of the Schlitterbahn resort lodging. For an RV camper - This was once a very nice place but the past year the attitude has gone downhill. The front (older) part of the park is still nice but if they try to put you in the back section (especially sites in the 60s and 70s, you would be happier in a Walmart parking lot. No grass, so space. Not even gravel, but crushed rock with sharp edges. The orientation has shifted to serve the river tubers rather than those that want to stay for more than a few days. The rude staff is difficult to deal with. This park is in a valley and the surrounding hills block any coverage. The wifi is a hit and miss. It is down more than it is up. read more
