**Before I begin, I have to say the curry fried rice is not for everyone, hehe. I'll explain more in my review. After reading my foodie frenzy Paul's review, he had me at curry fried rice and gyoza! I bookmarked Sumo & Paul even sent me a reminder compliment about the curry fried rice and gyoza. I had plans to make a stop to the windward side that weekend. I remember dining at Sumo Ramen & Curry, years ago at another location. I didn't know they have curry fried rice which sounds so good and I love how the gyoza is cooked. I decided to get one of the set instead of just curry fried rice by itself, since eating the fried rice would be too plain. I opt for the seafood ramen set with curry fried rice ( $3.50) additional charge, this set also comes with 4 piece gyoza so perfect, I get to try both! The set came out to a little over $25. I got take out since we just had lunch next door and this would be our dinner. & the verdict, this set was more than enough food for me and the other half, Per my hubby he mentioned with this type of food, it would be better to dine in, notes for next time. For me, I enjoyed the curry fried rice and gyoza more than the ramen. Even though we heated up the food a little. I loved how the gyoza is cooked and made fresh and the flavors of the curry fried rice. I still had leftover curry fried rice and saved for my son since he loves curry! Both hubby and son mentioned the curry fried rice is ok, here is my opinion, they love curry but I feel they like it the old fashioned way, rice, meat, & sauce. This is why I feel that the curry fried rice is not for everyone, esp. the men in my household. I truly ejoyed it! The food was yummy! I bought the katsu curry combo. It was a bit pricey but worth it! It came with a minor katsu, a bowl of ramen and gyoza. It was delicious! I suggest going here for a cold evening. It warms your soul... mmm... I would go back here to eat again for sure! Best part, they sell Coke too! In a CAN, no doubt! And No... NOT THAT kind of come! But Coca-cola to be precise! Haha! Bumbai they get served with a search warrant from DEA saying they were told they had COKE here! Kk... back on the menu... I got mines to go because everyone wanted next door. But if I could inside, I would've. They were pretty packed. It's not a large dinning area, but a good size. Saw pics from Yelper Paul C's post. The Curry Fried Rice looked really good. I'm not a big rice easter but do like Curry. Well bottom line is it was tasty and had a little heat. Rice was cooked perfect, and it was nicely presented. Overall service was great. Our server Joyce new who Paul was. We shared a few laughs. As a townie, I typically don't see myself seeking food options outside the town area as I have a rotation of restaurants that I often frequent. However, I find myself in Kaneohe a lot because of my part time job and notice restaurants that I often pass by during the commute. Step in Sumo Ramen and Curry (SRC), a franchise that offers ramen, gyoza, curry and fried rice. They are located in Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center across Windward Mall, near Safeway, L&L, Panda's and Donut King. My personal favorites here are the fried rice and gyoza. I absolutely love the curry fried rice which has lots of char siu pork chunks, assorted veggies and that curry kick with a hint of spice and heat. What gets me is the wok hei that brings that smokiness, a sign of a talented chef cooking with high heat. The gyoza are made to order and it's addicting. The skins are thin (not a fan of thick and starchy wrappers) so it has a nice crunch and the accompanying dipping sauce is just right. Add some chili sauce to elevate that experience. Customer service here is fantastic. The female staff is cheerful and it's so hospitable here. I see her assisting customers the extra mile. I've seen her assist her customers to their car with large orders. SRC has multiple dining tables and a long counter where you can watch the fish swimming in a huge tank. Very bright and family oriented ambience here. When I'm craving fried rice SRC gets my attention. Food is consistent here with great service. read more

My husband wanted to eat curry fried rice. Thank you Paul C for the pictures he posted on yelp. So the server ask if we like spice and I told her if they can make it not to spicy she said why don't I order the mini char siu fried and and your husband can order the mini curry fried rice I said ok. She said you can taste the curry fried rice and see if you like the spice level. We also ordered the gyoza and fried calamari she was right I took a bite and it's was spicy to me. I ask her what was her name she said it's Joyce. I said my friend works next door and she said he's so nice he always order food from them and she order food from him. She said nice guy. Came in here for a late night ramen and curry combo after a rainy day. I was worried about coming in with 30 minutes until closing but while we were looking at the menu outside the window, the staff seemed eager and willing for us to order. We ordered the ramen and mochiko chicken curry rice combo that also comes with gyoza. I love being able to get a bit of everything, perfect for people who can never decide on what to eat! The combo portions of each dish are actually a good size. Me and my boyfriend shared the combo between the both of us and our only regret was not ordering extra gyoza. I can see their combo being able to feed like 3 kids or being multiple meals for someone with a small appetite. Is it the best ramen on the island? No, but it's comforting and hits the spot more than an instant ramen. The mochiko chicken was juicy and crispy, but not burnt! Paired with curry and rice - ultimate comfort meal. Gyoza was steamed and lightly fried to perfection. Once again, my only regret was not getting an extra order of gyoza! The ambiance is really giving local mom & pop ramen shop. Worst ramen we ever had! No taste, using the cheap noodles. So was the fried rice! How could anyone screw up a fried rice? The pot stickers are small with very little filing with weird taste. The shop owner are soooooo cheap that they don't even provide salt, pepper, hot sauce etc. unless asking for. When asked, they brought out a tiny little container with tiny little hot sauce that taste awful. All in all, lousy food yet not cheap. Very disappointed. Will never go back again!! read more

My husband and I past this place several times because the pictures on the outside are faded and it's hard to get an idea of the food. But we finally did and I'm so glad. Ramen was SOOOOO good. Guess who's back, back again My boyfriend and I stopped in tonight. I think it's become a tradition for us. Just to eat good food and talk about our work days in a nice laid back environment. Wow! This place is great if you're on a budget! They give so much food and it doesn't poke a hole in the wallet. I think the food is good! Located in the same shopping center in Kaneohe as Safeway and across Windward Mall. There is usually plenty of parking, might have to walk a few rows down, but nothing too crazy far. The service is good and the food comes out quickly. They have combos with ramen, curry with your choice of meat, and fried rice or mandoo. I believe they have mandoo for happy hour as well (free with your meal). When just ordering the ramen by itself, it is a very big portion. Good food. Quick service. We normally get take out from here and they never disappoint. Portion sizes are big enough. They label the takeout containers and tape them down to a take out box for you. I had the Ramen Spicy Chicken Wing Curry Combo, while my friend had the Spicy Ramen Fried Rice combo. According to my friend his ramen was not spicy at all and was actually very bland. My ramen although not meant to be spicy was also very bland. We asked if they provided a complimentary little side of kimchee like most ramen places do. The waitress brought us a dish of Kimchee, which was actually very good. It helped give the ramen a little flavor. In fact it was the best item we had during lunch as the gyoza was also okay at best. The fried rice was also a bit bland and the curry a little too much in the sweet side for my taste. The spicy chicken wings were not spicy, but they had a really good garlic flavor. Service has always been friendly, and the food even better. My family and I have never been disappointed with anything we've eaten here. My kids love the wonton ramen, and I love the takoyaki, and croquette curry rice. My mom likes the curry udon, and my dad prefers the chicken katsu curry. But really, so many of their dishes are good. My son and I also enjoy the fact that they sell the little cans of Thai Iced Tea. I've never eaten in the restaurant itself, even before Covid, and always get takeout. The employees always put everything in a nice and sturdy box for us since we always have a large order. Fast forward to this year, I was in the area and wanted to eat gyoza. Anyway, I took it home and was too tired to eat but decided to eat a couple.
