I also really like the deep-fried tako, although I do wish they gave more pieces as the portion is very small. I only got 6 pieces last time. The restaurant has a casual, laid-back vibe, and the service is always fast. Definitely a solid spot whenever I'm craving Japanese curry!

Ordered my go-to Chicken Cutlet/Cheese with added corn, Fried Chicken for da hubz, Kid's Curry x 2 + a side order of Chicken Cutlet, n' a side of Shrimp Shumai. My favorite n' what completes the meal is the pickled daikon to top it all off. This definitely hit the spot, we all highly enjoyed it a lot!" SERVICE: fast n' friendly INTERIOR: good amount of booth n' diner style seating EXTERIOR: in the McCully Shopping Center WAIT TIME: got seated right away, after placing our order the food came out in maybe 10 mins, no more than 15 mins PARKING: free lot, narrow spaces OVERALL COMMENTS: food is always good n' the price is great. It was our first time getting the kids curry n' our Keiki loved it n' everything it came with. My chicken cutlet was crispy, a big size, n' the curry is so delicious. Da hubz inhaled the fried chicken plate. The shrimp shumai are small fried pieces, but for the price it's a good deal. Highly recommend if you're wanting Japanese curry!

I thought tge kim chee was a good level if heat, but my friend could only eat 1 piece. We both ate a little more than half of everything & took home leftovers. I am not a fan if katsu (chicken or pork) because it tends to be oily, but I took a chance & so glad I did! Ayame's chicken katsu was not oily & it was crispy/crunchy. I also don't like katsu sauce (don't judge), so I ate it w/the gyoza dipping sauce I made & I was happy! I would like to try their curry & ramen on future trips. And I just saw, they have mapo tofu curry! That sounds interesting! One of my friend's roommate always gets the pineapple chicken katsu fried rice. I need to try that, too! See... many future trips! Sorry, I didn't think of taking a picture or making a review. The owners are very nice & attentive! It's close to the satellite city hall at Windward City Shopping Center, more towards McD's.

I'd definitely recommend sharing so you can mix and match and try a few different meats. The Wagyu was a standout -- incredibly tender, flavorful, and such a fun experience since you get to cook it yourself right at the table. The tonkatsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while still juicy and tender inside. I also loved how kid-friendly they were! They had kid dishes and utensils ready, which is always such a nice touch when dining out with little ones. Great food, generous portions, and a fun experience for the whole family. Definitely a spot I'd come back to next time we're in Oahu!

Later they took over the Soba side and opened the Yoshoku section, and now it seems like they've merged everything -- though the menu feels mainly Tonkatsu-focused. I made a mistake this time and didn't order my usual Pork Tenderloin Katsu. I tried the Oyster Mix Katsu (Oyster, Shrimp, Pork Loin), and the seafood pieces had way too much breading -- the actual seafood was maybe half the size of the whole piece, which was disappointing. My partner ordered the Bairin Mix Katsu, so I got to try the Minced Pork Katsu, and that was amazingly delicious. Service was great, and we got a 20% Kamaʻaina discount plus parking validation for the Bank of Hawaii lot for 1.5 hours. One lady made it sound like she was giving us extra time, but the website says 1.5 hours anyway. Note to myself: stick with the Pork Tenderloin Katsu or the Minced Pork Katsu next time.

They release reservations about a month in advance, and I highly recommend booking if you're able to as soon as you can. Even with a reservation, there was still a wait. We arrived around 6:45 PM for our 7 PM reservation and they had already stopped accepting walk ins. We were seated around 7:10 PM, so definitely expect some extra waiting even with a reservation. Once we were seated, though, the food was absolutely worth it. We had the chicken katsu, sizzling miso, minced pork, shrimp and chicken, and a katsu sandwich to go. The chicken katsu was AMAZING and easily the best katsu we had on the island. The sizzling miso was also amazing, and the shrimp and chicken was great. The minced pork was probably our least favorite, but still decent. And the katsu sandwich we took to go was amazing as well. I also really enjoyed the sesame at the table. You grind it yourself and then mix in the sauce, so you get that fresh sesame flavor right before eating. It was a fun little part of the meal and made the whole experience feel more interactive. The only real downside was how cramped the table for two felt once all the dishes, side dishes, sauces, and everything else arrived. There is a lot going on at the table, so there isn't much room to spare. My only real complaint was actually how they handle the waiting area. The space is tiny and was absolutely packed with people waiting to be called. They told us to wait inside, but there was plenty of room outside where people could have waited instead. It would have made the tiny indoor area much less crowded and easier for everyone.
