She had a private room and received excellent care. The first month she was bedridden and needed help with everything! Second month the PT started and progress was evident from the start. All staff were exceptionally helpful,friendly and respectful. Meals were more than plentiful, they may have gotten boring after a month but when preparing meals for 80-90 patients you can't please everybody. The PT staff was amazing, without them I am unsure just how fast her recovery would have been. This facility was spotless,nurses and assistants were great..Highly recommend. Terence Murphy

Found out a few days ago that he fell on the floor and was not found till a few hours later. At that was because he was banging on the wall and called his wife. His call light was on. Like wtf? Are they not checking the light and alarm?? When we came to visit him, found out he was in a diaper while the other day he was walking to the toilet. When was this change? The nurse saying that she didn't know and she just started being under his care. Ummm doesn't the other nurses give reports??? We aren't stupid. If you care about your loved ones please do not send them here! The staff are rude and will not assist.

Why are people saying such mean things about Fredricka Manor?…read more I just visited yesterday, My parents were there 8 years ago and they have totally upgraded the look from the Great Generation to the Baby Boomer generation. I loved it for my parents but it truly has sparked up for the new genertion coming in. The food looked and tasted delicious and far better than any I saw on pictures from other places. The rooms are clean, fresh and updated. The social calendars couldn't be better and the residences I met who were close to my age, loved it. They couldn't say enough good things about it and they were all participating in different activities from each other. Not only were activities abundant but holidays were made to be celebrated with special events offered and residences were signing up for trips to Lambs House Theater to upcoming plays, Peohe's was another sign up opportunity. When my family arrived, we were brought to my dad's room where he was sharing with another individual. The bedding was stained. In the bathroom that was shared with multiple individuals was unsanitary. It had brown-stained towels wrapped around the base of the toilet and smelled strongly of urine. My father was also told that he needed to relinquish his electric wheelchair and would be given one of theirs. He's informed they would "try" to find one with neck support, but could not promise one would be available. He absolutely must have neck support at all times and a standard wheelchair would not have been able to provide him the support he needed. He also does not have the strength or mobile to be able to push himself in case of an emergency. If something were to happen he would have been trapped. He was there from around 3pm to 8am the next day and at no point did any staff come to the room to check on him and see if his needs were being met. The only staff interaction happened in the middle of the night when he called to have his roommate turn off his TV and was told his roommate could watch TV at full volume all night if he wanted to, which he did ensuring he got no sleep that night. I came the next morning to remove him from the situation. Upon check out they lost some of his multiple RX medications that were later found and had to be mailed back to him. Essential RX medications should never have been lost in the first place which only added to the stress of the experience. This sad facility overall was not a place we believe any veteran should be subjected to.

Even before I arrived, as I waited in the hospital, the center showed issues by not returning phone calls made by my case manager. Four days elapsed before they responded. Don't believe the false promises made on their website, such as "Prior to admission, one of our admissions staff will reach out with a phone call to give you a brief explanation of what will happen upon arrival. They will also set up a time to have an initial meeting." Neither that call nor that meeting ever occurred. I gave it a week. The staff that I met and who took actual care of me were industrious and gracious, despite being overworked and (probably) underpaid. However, the services that I expected, such as extensive PT to improve my physical strength and flexibility, and the promised OT sessions, including learning how to get in and out of a car and learning how to use a tub bench, never happened. The meals were occasionally meager (one slice of plain bread and half an egg), sometimes tasty, and never included fresh fruit or vegetables. Part of recovering from anything should involve healthy nutrition that is based on fresh food. But I'm sure the industrial-sized cans of whatever are significantly cheaper. The incessant beeping of unanswered calls and the screaming/yelling of a woman parked in the hallway most days made for a disturbing and challenging environment in which to try and rest and heal. Without notifying me or asking my permission, the staff changed the days, times, and locations of scheduled doctor appointments. Imagine my surprise when I decided to double-check the status of appointments. Early on, I slipped in a puddle at the base of the toilet shared by two rooms (4 patients). My right foot (non-weight-bearing foot in a splint) slammed down on floor and my back slammed into a grab bar. Staff said that the puddle/leak had been previously reported to maintenance. Maintenance stated that the toilet was fine. Every day for the remainder of my stay, the floor was wet and a towel was required to mop it up. When I informed PT that I was having chronic back spasms and pain after the fall in the bathroom, the staff said that they would provide some sort of back support. I asked about the back support again the next day. The back support was never provided. The understaffing presents definite challenges for both patients and staff. When you are non-weight-bearing and you rely on staff to obtain medication or use the bathroom, you must be prepared to request medication several times, because they will forget and you will suffer. To avoid developing a UTI and being forced to foul my clothing, I learned early on to request access to the bathroom before I seriously needed it. It might easily be 30 minutes before anyone's available to assist you in getting to the toilet. The requirements that they were supposed to fulfill, such as ordering a walker and restarting my in-home PT and OT, failed to materialize. I made several visits to their office before I discharged myself to make sure that they had placed orders. I don't know if they were lying to get rid of me or just because it's standard behavior. After I discharged myself, I expected the walker to arrive at my home and the home-health care to resume. For the next 10 days, I called repeatedly to ask what the status was. No one responded. My case manager from my insurance company also called, and they failed to respond to those calls as well.

Gosh, where to begin! My father William, has been living and thriving at ActivCare Rolling Hills…read morefor more than a year now. He was residing at another assisted living/memory care facility in San Diego which met his needs for 3 years. His Alzheimers continued to progress leading to falls and behavioral issues which were no longer manageble there. We had to find Dad a new home which could meet his needs. After visiting several other places, many online due to COVID restrictions, we heard about Rolling Hills in passing. We made an appointment to visit and tour with Sophia and the rest is history. My wife and I knew that day we wanted Dad to live there. I have said this many, many times over the past year..... This has been our miracle, such a blessing for Dad and our family! We were concerned that the extent of Dad's behaviors of dementia would rule him out for admission. Dad was evaluated thoroughly and within several days (It took a bit longer due to COVID testing at the time). we moved him into his new home. From DAY 1 my father has thrived at Rolling Hills. Despite the relentless challenges and progression of an Alzheimers diagnosis, he is truly 'living' with the best quality of life that we could hope for ALL due to the staff and care he continues to receives 24/7! From the moment he wakes up in the morning, they have him dressed and out of his room, into the big 'great room' where he can socialize, roam, participate in activities and eat until it's time to crawl into bed at the end of the day. The staff treats Dad with dignity, respect and love. They have become part of Dad's family; he trusts them. They have taken the time to understand his ways and they never give up trying to help him even at his most trying moments. The Rolling Hills administration team led by BB Smith is hands on! They aren't hidden away is back offices somewhere. We often find them in the great room assisting the residents and socializing with them. They take the time to 'know' each resident. The care team is THE BEST! They truly perform a ministry caring for persons with all types of dementia and other cognitive issues. They approach each resident individually. The needs can change hour to hour and they meet this challenge. We are so blown away over and over at how they work as a team to give Dad and everyone the best quality of life possible on a daily basis. The activities are endless and tailored to meet the needs of each resident. My wife and I have participated in several ourselves and have had a lot of fun! It truly takes a solid team to keep Rolling Hills running so smoothly and professionally. Maintenance, Housekeeping, Nursing, Admin, Dietary, Activities... The Rolling Hills team ACROSS THE BOARD, make it happen! I will conclude with this: Since Dad began living at Rolling Hills we can sleep solidly at night; enjoy time with friends, go out of town all the while having full confidence and trust in everyone that Dad is surrounded by at ActivCare of Rolling Hills. The landscaping, the parking lot, the lobby, the hallways, the activity rooms, the dining hall, the theater room, the library, the sundeck and garden were all impeccably organized and clean. I was blown away with how friendly the staff is and how long they have been there (some staff members have been there 15+ years!). I met a few residents as well and they are so happy living there... It really is a wonderful, warm, cozy, elegant and beautiful place for family members to get the quality care they need while building new friendships and memories! My dad will certainly need SunGarden soon and I'm beyond impressed with this location! 10/10!
