So hard to believe it has been over a decade since I had the honor of writing the very first yelp review for Sun Garden and far too long since my last visit. Something peculiar about me is how I will often have an insatiable craving for a particular dish that may last for several weeks, several months or even several years; but suddenly and out of nowhere I develop a new craving and lose interest in the old. Sun Garden was my go-to spot for about 2 years solid until a new NY style Chinese restaurant opened much closer to my home. They've been the reigning champs ever since, but I never forgot about the food and lovely owners of Sun Garden. [ MOTHER'S DAY EXPERIENCE 2023 ] Fast forward 10 years and as I was driving by, I had a strong urge to check and see if the same owners were operating the business. Not only did her familiar face greet me, but she also enthusiastically welcomed me with a hug! Even after a decade, she remembered my name and what I always ordered. I can't begin to express how amazed I was by this, and while I didn't come to eat that day, she encouraged me to come back and said, "I will make something special for you!" 2 weeks later and still on my mind, I decided to drop-in for a Mother's Day meal with my daughter & grandbabies. I was fully intent on ordering the shrimp & egg dish I've raved about in my previous reviews, but my daughter spotted an unusual dish at another table. I have no idea what the name of it was, but we immediately asked our server about it. She told us it is a special dish that must be pre-ordered a few days in advance. After a disappointing groan, we began to examine the menu. The owner stopped by our table and to our surprise she informed me she'd made enough to fulfill our request for this amazing dish! [ THE FOOD ] For all intents & purposes we will simply call this dish the LOBSTER SPECIAL. It was priced around $45. I'm not entirely sure how much lobster was included, but I counted what seemed to be at least two whole lobsters smothered in a delicious onion & ginger infused gravy. We also ordered several other items such as wings, crab rangoon, my beloved shrimp & eggs, a few items for the kids and a complimentary egg drop soup that is the best I've ever tasted. Pricing here is an exceptional value, making this meal even more special. My shrimp & egg dish was not as yelptastic as I remembered, but still a great effort, especially since it's been many years since they last made it for me and it's not a regular menu item. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] My latest visit to Sun Garden will be locked into my memory for life. I firmly believe in treating people as if they matter, so I was blown away by how much the owner made me feel as if I mattered, even after a 10-year hiatus. I simply want to encourage any locals reading this to come here for the food, but keep coming for the warmth. Covid brought many changes and challenges for the owner, but through it all she is still putting her whole heart into her business... and it shows. I only wish I had been thoughtful enough after my meal to go next door to Kroger and purchase a bouquet of flowers for her. After all, she spent HER Mother's Day serving many other mothers (along with her daughter) and deserved some recognition. Great local spot close to home. The whole family was there working and really enjoyed this. Most chinese is takeout oriented but this reminded me of my childhood. We had the dinner for 2 with the hot & sour soup, eggroll, sweet & sour shrimp and mongolian beef. All were great and we had plenty left to eat the next day. We will definitely be back. read more

This restaurant is in the Kroger shopping center. We prefer it because the food is consistently good with great service. They can make adjustments to what you like, for instance I asked for "shrimp with broccoli" which is not on the menu. Also, everything we tried so far is not salty like some other places. Got the $9.50 lunch to go. The soup was lacking character, cheaply made. Spring roll had a scant amount of filling and was packed with the main entree leaving it soft and flabby. The fried rice was more like soy flavored rice. The broccoli may have been vintage '23. Sauce was lacking and watery. Protein just meh. Great service and friendly staff!!!! They have a typical Asian-Americanized Cuisine menu and there is a separate a true Asian Cuisine menu. Be sure to try out some of those dishes on the real menu, which you have to ask for. read more

Still good and while most Chinese restaurants don't offer a larger separate bowl of soup without having to ask for a larger size where they basically just charge you for two orders and put it in a bigger bowl this place does offer soup for two which is the equivalent but it's at a decent price. I had the Kung Pao deluxe and it was very good. While not crazy spicy, it definitely has a kick. The shrimp spring rolls were good also. A bit on the greasy side like you expect more with egg rolls but they were good. There are five different Chinese restaurants in the area, so give this one a try also. read more

I was very pleased to see a lunch menu on the weekends! Really good prices and really good food! This place reminds me of the Chinese restaurant I used to work for in College. They have 40+ lunch menu items to choose from and it comes with soup, fried rice and an egg roll. We had the sesame chicken,chicken lo mein, and Hunan shrimp. I thought it was plenty of food for lunch and I walked out full. Our waitress was really nice and sweet. We went around 12pm and it seemed like there were a lot of regulars that come in. Environment was nice and cozy. Only complaint was the sticky tables. Food come out fresh and hot. Did not have to wait long. I honestly would prefer this place over any mall chinese food or even Panda Express. If you live near by, im sure this will be your go to Chinese restaurant. read more

So decided to try this place based on the reviews and I must say, these people have never had a decent meal to give this place such great reviews. The one star is for the staff, they were nice and attentive. It all went down hill from there though. The condiments on the table were so sticky and greasy, it made me wonder if they were ever wiped down after initial purchase. The food was awful and when I say awful I mean I couldn't even eat the steamed broccoli because it had a bad aftertaste. The sauces were overly sweet and heavy on the grease. I have not been inside the restaurant. I have only ordered takeaway. I come from San Francisco and have had a hard time finding decent Chinese food since moving to Georgia. I reluctantly ordered, thinking it would be just as lackluster as many of the other restaurants I've tried. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered an item not on their menu. I ordered pan fried noodles with char shiu (BBQ Pork). The taste was just as I remember it back at some of my favorite restaurants in SF. My mother and sister went in for lunch after my first order and got to talking with the owner and he said he lived in SF a while back. We moved to Dacula 11 months ago and we order deliveries from Sun Garden for about 10 months and everything was ok, not spectacular just average. We decided to eat in and it was a horrible experience. The fountain soda was absolutely horrible and they did not have bottled or can drinks as a replacement. The food was dodo and they over charged me. They argued with to the point everyone in the restaurant was looking. They went and got the menu and realized they did I fact over charge me, but instead of saying sorry they said they changed the price but failed to put it on the menu. Really? So that's my fault. Still searching for our go-to Chinese place in or around 30045! Pretty decent place. Good menu. The food still is not our favorite but we would go back if nothing else appealed to us. We ordered: egg rolls, wonton soup, tempura shrimp, hot and sour soup, moo goo gai pan and orange flavored chicken. The sauces on the entrees were thin and not enough . I would definitely order double the sauce or I'd make my own, but why, when you order some? I prefer enough sauce to go on the rice. MY moo goo sauce has chicken broth, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, green onions and corn starch for thickening but normally the velveting process of the chicken thickens the broth nicely. The sauce from here tasted more like just chicken broth. I added 3 pkgs of soy sauce and it added the much needed flavor. The chicken was plentiful! The veggies were fresh as expected so no complaints there! I asked for no mushrooms or baby corn so mine came with bok choy (needed more), brocolli, carrots, snow peas and water chestnuts. All my favorite! The wonton soup was not like one I'd ever seen before. 3 wontons and mixed in was shredded chicken and an assortment of vegetables. It was nice but not the kind I'm looking for when I don't feel good just the soup broth and wontons please. But otherwise it was great. The hot and sour soup was again too thin, we're used to seeing it thicker, also not sour enough nor spicy! We added some more rice wine vinegar and a touch of hot sauce and it was much better. The egg rolls were hard to tell what was in them but I'm thinking mostly cabbage, sprouts and some carrot, not sure if there was a protein in there. The contents looked to have been run through a food processor first and then filled, looked a bit ominous. Again really no flavor by itself added soy and duck sauce to open up the flavor. They were okay like that. The sauce on the orange flavored chicken again was very thin. Not sure what the difference was between the orange chicken and orange flavored chicken was... usually the battered and fried chicken thickens the sauce... The fried rice was nothing to rave about either just plain rice and some egg and the rice was not crispy at all. I want to see my rice with fried egg, green peas, a pinch of carrots, sprouts and onions and lots of crispy peices of rice! The tempura shrimp was good. We had to throw them in our hot air fryer to crisp them back up but that is to be expected when food is packaged fresh and hot! The fried stuff tends to get steamed and needs a little crisping. No big deal! Over all not bad food and maybe our second favorite but still not meeting our search for our favorite! I'd say we'll go back and try some different things but on the whole we'll keep searching! read more

We got take out from Sun Garden on Sunday night and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very tasty and hot when it got home. We had a variety of dishes, all of which were extremely good with good portion sizes. -2 of us had Sesame Shrimp. It was very yummy. Breaded deep fried shrimp that was a nice size. The sauce was sweet but not too sweet. I highly recommend it. -1 of us had the Jumbo Shrimp Fried Rice. It also had nice sized shrimp and the flavor was good. The rice included egg, peas, carrots and onions. My husband said he would definitely get it again. -1 of us had the Triple Deluxe. My mom said the flavor was very good and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The only complaint is the menu didn't mention mushrooms which she doesn't care for so she had to eat around them. -We shared an order of Crab Rangoon and egg rolls. The rangoon on the small size but were good and the filling was pretty sweet but we liked it. The egg rolls were the only thing we all agreed we wouldn't get again. They were bland and not worth it despite having a nice crisp wrapper. Can't wait to visit Sun Garden again and try some more dishes. read more

I love this place! The food is so good, this is my go-to Chinese restaurant. The staff is amazing, especially the lady. My husband has a shellfish allergy so when I order something with shrimp, she lets us know that she will change the oil that food is cooked in and keep everything separate so that nothing is contaminated. At the recommendation of a couple of friends I decided to try this place last night since my favorite Chinese place in the area is closed on Mondays. I had the Hunan Chicken with steamed rice. My wife had her go to Chinese meal which is Shrimp with Lobster sauce with "egg" fried rice. I put egg in quotes because that is what they call it yet there was hardly any egg in there at all. We also tried the crab rangoon appetizer. The food: My Hunan chicken and steamed rice was excellent. My wife liked her shrimp with lobster sauce but the egg fried rice left a ton to be desired. In fact, she had to throw it back in a pan, add some scrambled egg and some Chinese sauces we had on hand to make it edible. I liked the crab rangoon and she thought it was just so so at best. The staff:although I ordered mine of the phone for pickup, the lady running the cash register was extremely polite and helpful. She made it a point to call me by my first name a couple of times even though that was my first visit there. The carryout service experience was excellent. The verdict: It was pretty decent over all. However, it is a bit pricey. I find another Chinese restaurant near my house to be a much better value. However, if I ever need a Chinese food fix on a Monday night again I will definitely order from Sun Garden again. read more

Im not sure how this place got 4 stars, my parents and I gave this place 2 tries based on the previous reviews and it was a disappointment both times. 1st off I never seen chicken wings so small. 2nd they over charged us for the order that we placed and the quality of the food was not worth the price. 3rd both times they gave us our orders incorrectly. 4th which is the worst part I called to speak to the manager to see if he will make it right and he asked me to bring back the food and he will give us our money back. This place does not know how to do business we live in a world now where COVID exist why as a manager would you ask for all of the food back instead of fixing the errors that were made.
