We had a great experience with Martha's Vineyard Bike rentals. They were super helpful and the E-bikes were a blast!

It seems like the experience with staff members are hit or miss. I booked my bike rentals online and luckily I called a day in advance to confirm my rental because they seemed clueless about my order. So instead, a very friendly staff (over the phone) handled my order and confirmed that I will be receiving my bike within a certain time period the following day. However, on the following day, my bike didn't arrive during the time they had told me. And when I called to the store to check, this separate staff member I had was not only rude but also very quick to hang up on me. He pretty much told me to wait and hung up before I said anything and without saying. I was very close to not tipping anything to the store when my bike finally arrived but because the guy delivering my bike was so nice, I still ended up tipping. Overall, if you need a bike rental, this place is good. The bike was adjusted for my height and it was great for the day. However, be mindful that the staff experience may or may not be great. read more

We had rented bikes from another outfit located in Oak Bluffs and rode our bikes to Edgartown. During our ride, I noticed that the bike issued to me had some complications. So, after lunch, I popped over to this spot and the gentlemen there could not have been nicer. They provided me with suggestions to help me troubleshoot the difficulties with the rental bike, solving the issue and making for a much smoother ride back to Oak Bluffs. I am grateful for their kindness and will be renting our bikes from them in our return trips to the Vineyard. read more

HORRIBLE! Reserved two bikes on line. Received an email confirming reservation. Day of: no bikes. Called shop to be told by a rude and officious clerk that they just send confirmations automatically and that does not actually reserve a bike and they had no bikes available. Attitude was "too bad for you for believing a reservation meant a bike was available" Went to another local bike shop who was wonderful. Avoid this shop! read more

Just a wonderful place for bike rentals and service or repairs. I thought my vacation was ruined a few years ago when someone ran into the back of my car and damaged my bike. My whole family stays in Katama every summer, and the bike trailer delivery service has been essential for our travels with several young children in tow. We basically bike everywhere. I didn't actually ever visit their store, but these folks made our vacation x10, with their prompt service, excellent communication, and great products...! I reserved two e-bikes and a Burley kid-trailer, and did it all online. I let them know that we'd be arriving at MV Family Campground on 06/09/21, and that I wanted the bikes and trailer for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The bikes and trailer were delivered promptly to the campground on 06/10, they texted me to let me know where to find them, and the combination to the lock. Everything was there, as promised = Bikes, trailer, chargers, helmets, and bike locks. The e-bikes worked awesome, the trailer was spectacular, and we never would have seen the parts of MV that we saw without them. I locked the bikes back up at about 5pm on 06/12, texted them that the bikes were ready, and that was that - It just doesn't get any easier or more reliable than that. Absolutely 5-stars...! read more

We were not impressed with the service we received at MV Bike Rentals. First of all, I called and asked if there was a trail nearby because we had small kids and didn't want to be in street and they said yes, however it was about .5 mile away and we had to go through the streets, which was exactly what we didn't want. The employees were not that helpful, didn't really talk to us or tell us when our bikes were ready. Will try another place next time. read more

This place made our family bike day happen when we realized the bar to connect the baby trailer was left at home by accident. We called 1 other bike shop on the island and received less than stellar customer service. Called up MV Bike Rentals and they quickly not only offered up the part for the day, but wouldn't charge us because I think they get that life happens! Thor was extremely helpful and kind. We rented our bikes in no time. He knew exactly what size bike and adjusted my seat perfectly. Bikes were great at a reasonable price for lock, helmet and basket for a total of 50.00. Not bad since we had them all day and dropped them off around 5pm. Thor told us we could go later and just lock them up after hours! My hubby and I biked to Oaks Bluff on a beautiful day. We will rent from Thor the next time we visit MV. We rented bikes here today to ride along beach road. The service was friendly, but our bikes needed maintenance. We did not know that if you had trouble with the bikes on the road you can call them and they will come and fix it. My wife's bike gave us trouble and upon return told them about it which they returned the rental fee. We will be back to rent again. read more

They gave me an incredibly uncomfortable 7-speed bike and my husband a 21-speed bike, which made my day biking around the island pretty miserable. I couldn't keep up, the bike was crappy and we were on them for hours. We called to see if they'd replace mine and they said, "why would you need more than a 7-speed on the island?" I'm an accomplished cyclist and have never been so uncomfortable. We're here now on Block Island on wonderful bikes and are having a ball. read more

Stopped in today bc had an issue w my bike's tire losing air. They inspected the tire and advised I needed to tighten the valve -they put air in it and were very helpful . Very friendly staff -they are located near the harbor so if you need to rent a bike or get a used one , give them a try. read more

My mom, girlfriend, and I rented bikes from here recently. We're just outside the main part of town when mom notices her bike has a flat. Fortunately we are near Edgartown Bicycles who repair mom's tire. While it is being repaired, I call MV Bike rentals to tell them what happened. He gives me a hard time about not calling them first and would have brought a truck over to have it repaired. This would have taken forever and we don't have the time as the bikes need to be back by five. We are told that the bike tire imploded from the inside, meaning it was from wear and tear and not from a rock or sharp object. So we we're given a lemon of a bike to begin with. It costs $25. It is repaired quickly, we pay for it and expect MV Bike Rentals to pay for it. Unfortunately, when we return the bikes, the guy starts arguing with me and says he will only pay half. And this is for a bike of his that got a flat 10 minutes into the ride and it was a damaged tire to begin with! He also says that Edgartown Bicycles "don't like us very much" and questions their diagnosis. A) I can understand why they don't like you and B) why would they lie? Long and short of it, the guy finally pays me the $25 as I've made it clear what an inconvenience his shitty bike caused. Save yourself the money and aggravation and rent your bikes from Edgartown Bicycles. At least they've got their act together and won't try to rip you off. read more

Our family of 5 adults & 2 children have been vacationing on MV every August for the past 4 years. We rent bikes from MV Bike Rentals on Main Street each visit and have never had a problem. They deliver the bikes to our house when we ask for them and pick them up at the end of our stay. The employees are friendly and helpful and they have a great selection of bikes for all ages. Got 2 lemons at once! Neither would shift. one had less than 35 lbs. pressure. Pretty awful to discover after you crossed the ferry to Chappy. Staff said they do NO ROUTINE SERVICE WHATSOEVER. They only service bikes after customer reports bike is broken. Rent anywhere else! read more
