I came in for a fill in. On the boarded price list it says $27 but | was told $40, I got told it was $25 more because I had 2 stilettos nails already.. shape services says $5.. I was told because I had white powder (already!) it was more. I also got a nail repair on my toe nails and was told $15, the board says $3-$8. I feel this was very unacceptable and I were over charged & also charged for unnecessary things. read more

I did my nails on Sunday September/22/2024 they told me when I went in to put a builder gel on my nails because I was doing shellac and they wanted to charge me 15 dollars for that gel and they told me it was one coat so I said no I never put gel on my nails when I do shellac so I'm okay they kept pushing me into putting it on and I said no then the guy was trying to take off my old nail polish and broke one of my nails, I told him it's okay just put a fake nail for this one then he started filing my nails and he broke a second nail so I told him to cut the rest so they're equal and that I didn't want a fake nail anymore. so he filed my nails so much that all my nails were as thin as paper keep in mind I have thick nails and that's why I only do shellac. then they charged me 55 dollars and i left. that same night my nail polish started peeling so I was planning on going back and having them fix it but I had work all day the next day so I went the day after which is today the 24th I went to work in the morning and I notice that two of my nails broke and I didn't even feel it so I went back and told his manager and asked for a refund and he kept fighting with me and telling me that his employee didn't break my nails even tho I showed the manager when it happened and he kept denying it. never going back there again, there's a reason this place has a two star review. read more

I couldn't speak more highly about this place! 1. I think I was one of their first customers when they first open, I didn't want to share this hidden gem simply because I was afraid of how long the wait time would be once people started to find out about the nail salon. (Yes I know I'm selfish). forward to years later and the wait time never changed! They always take me in very fast and I never waited no more then 10 minutes max. 2. I'm huge on hygiene, they always used new or sterile tools, and its facility itself is always clean. 3. My main reason for making this my main Salon was, the simple fact I used to take my daughter here to get a pedi in the butterfly chair and they would ALWAYS treat her so kind, offering water or something to drink along with a cookie. As the years passed she's now a teen and this is the only place she loves to go her her pedicures. It's our monthly date. The only con is: actually it's so much a con, but downside is my teen goes somewhere else for a custom design on her manicure. I'm not sure if sunset does "custom designs" I haven't seen any. But I never looked into it. So maybe they do and I haven't heard about it yet. As I mentioned not so much a con just an opinion as this review. Great and friendly read more

Honestly, my experiences there have been hit and miss (more hits than misses). There's no doubt Sun Nails has mastered the speed eyebrow waxing. You're done in less than 3 minutes and it's $7. Overall, the pedi experience is pretty good as well, especially now that they've added a "deluxe" pedi package, which includes a mud mask on your legs, extensive efforts in callous removal, etc. Of course, they will still do the hot towels and massage. The (finger)nails is the possible hit and miss. They're really good with full sets or tips. But, with a mani (standard or gel), they may miss the side edge of your nails when they try to clean up whatever might've gone outside of the lines, per se. That may not bother some people, but that bothers the crap outta me. I pay you money to paint my whole nail, not 95% of it. 2 big freak accidents that I hope would never happen again - There was lady that works at the new Sun Nails at the strip mall on Mich Ave by Krogers, and apparently was helping out here because the Pelham Sun Nails was busy. Not only was she rough on my hands, one of my cuticles actually started to bleed. I wish I got her name. I'm sure I'll recognize her though. The second miss - I went in at 6:45 for a mani/pedi and since it wasn't busy, I had someone doing my mani and pedi at the same time. At 7:15, two of the workers there ran out the door as if someone got into an accident, because the Mich Ave Sun Nails was busy and they had asked me to drive the guy working on my feet to the second store. Seriously? That was super bizarre and rude. And they didn't even give me a discount. All in all, I suppose I will still go there (for now) since they do do a good job, but ironically, make sure you go when it's busy, or else you'll end up having to drive someone to the other store. lol. read more

I've been coming here for a while now, it's actually the only place I ever go to do my nails. Anytime I go somewhere else for convenience I automatically regret it. First off, 90% of the reason that I used to delay getting my nails done, was because I never wanted to wait in those lines. I've had to wait over 40+ minutes just to get my nails done anywhere else. At Sun I've never ever ever EVER waited more than 5 minutes. And that was only one time, they just seat you instantly. Henry & Anh are great. They never have me leaving disappointed like other places. The price here is also very right. 15 dollars for shellac??? You can't beat that. When you pay credit they do charge 1$ extra, I don't mind but it may be a big deal to some. Now sometimes if I'm not dealing with Henry and Anh, I've had some not so great experiences with service but it's not discouraging to me. Regardless, almost all the employees are still very very friendly & conversation with you. I once came here in the summer when I was on crutches and I'll never forget how unbelievably helpful and accommodating everyone was. Henry more specifically, but still as a customer that was a very memorable experience. This is the only place where my shellac looks good for weeks after. Other places I'm chipping within a couple of days. Nor does it really get discolored, I haven't figured out why but this is the only place that works well for me. This place is just awful. First I was told it would be a 10 minute wait. Turned into 45 minutes & that's not a big deal, I understand things happen, but they answered the phone while I was still waiting after 2 other woman just came in & told the person on the phone TEN MINUTE wait. Then I was seated, I told the man doing my nails that I wanted acrylic nails, short, matte, black square. The most basic nail.. NOT the gel because I just don't care for gel nails, to which I'm assuming he thought I just didn't want to pay the extra money and kept telling me "it's only $47", very loud and kind of embarrassing, and I told him I don't like gel because they chip easy.. he still used gel. After rushing through, when he was finished I noticed huge bubbles in my thumb nails, so I asked him nicely to fix it, I asked him to take all the GEL (that I didn't ask for) off and start over on all the nails. He did after some attitude, and this is what I was left with... these nails don't even fully cover my actual real nail..... I was disgusted after seeing them the second time. and I ended up just paying and STILL tipping, after sitting in that salon for over 2 hours, I was over it. He rushed and refused to slow down and take his time. He kept looking up and paying attention to everyone around him probably because he thought I was broke and wasn't going to tip.. I called and asked for a refund and for them to take them off of my fingers and he said no, that I can come in and have them fix them.. for the THIRD TIME.. I'd rather not. read more

There was a young lady with autism at your nail shop today who had An accident in your lobby and even though her mother and sister cleaned it up and bought her new clothing you refused to provide her service. You were more upset about the fact that you had to mop the floor because of her but can you imagine how she must have felt? Can you imagine the kind of courage it took her to come to your salon in the first place? What you did was beyond in human and deeply cruel. Do yourself a favor and just find a different nail salon. I've been here twice and have had poor experiences each time, and will not be back. I was in for a shellac manicure today and my nail tech was trimming my cuticles really fast. I wanted to ask her to slow down because it was kind of aggressive and making me nervous, but didn't want to be that annoying customer. However, I wish I did because she was going too fast and took a big chunk out of my cuticle and it bled like crazy. Along with dealing with that for the rest of my time there, my nails are not trimmed the same length and some aren't shaped evenly. It was $30 for a shellac manicure ($1 cheaper than my regular place) - go to a place with better techs and pay a tiny bit more. read more

EDIT: after writing my initial review it seems that my two previous experiences were good ones compared to what was to come. I was sexually harassed by one of the male nail technicians. Who wouldn't stop staring at me and talking about my beauty and if I had a boyfriend and stuff like that, I felt very uncomfortable. Additionally, he was ripping at the skin around my nails very carelessly, rather than paying close attention. I didn't tip at all, which is rare for me, due to my terrible experience, and how weirded out and bad it all was. I still didn't wait to be seated or anything but the whole manicure experience is different depending on the person, and I've definetly had mixed experiences, almost like roulette. Not sure I'm willing to roll the dice again.. I have been here twice now, strictly choosing it based on location and convienence to me. I never wait more than 2 minutes to be seated and usually someone is waiting to start anyway. I have had two different nail techs each time and both gave me the same experience which was great! Very large color selection, the color doesnt fade or become discolored weeks after, they treat your cuticles and really pay attention to detail! I recently went somewhere else to get my nails done out of need quickly, and I am sitting here regretting it because the shellac manicure has already peeled off. When I get a shellac manicure here its $25 and $1 extra for a credit card fee and I always tip cash. They're very nice and know what they are doing more than a lot of salons. the shellac that I have gotten here has always lasted me longer than I was willing to leave it on (aka I picked it off when it was way grown out but it could have stayed on longer). All in all, I probably will continue to go here until I have a bad experience, and I dont think that's going to happen. read more

Love this salon. I have been going here since I was a little girl. It's small, clean and usually quiet because I go in the morning. Lisa is who I go to for nails. She's honest about color and design ideas and she takes her time, she genuinely loves what she does. Also, her eyebrows couldn't be more on point! There's a older man who's awesome too that my girlfriend goes to, she loves him! Thank you sun nails for my awesome relaxing bi-weekly mani, pedi and brow sessions. I will go here forever! read more

Ladies: please make sure you do your research before going to the nail salon! I have been going to Sun Nails for most of my nail care and went to get my acrylic nails taken off there for the first time... big mistake. I assumed the nail salon would be a more professional setting to get them removed and that it'd be healthier for my real nails to have them soaked as opposed to just ripping them off but that's exactly what happened there. No soaking, no cleaning-- just straight into clipping and literally RIPPING the nails off by forcing another unused fake nail under the one attached to my nails. It hurt pretty badly but I assumed that it was normal and just told myself to suck it up, and the next thing I knew the nail tech gasped, I looked down, and my fingernail was detached from the nail bed and was bleeding. I wasn't even offered a bandaid, but she thankfully did put some kind of rubbing alcohol on it (at least, that's what I think it was... she didn't say). I could've done the same thing at home and saved $12. This was some of the worst pain I have ever felt! Bottom line: make sure you know what you're getting yourself into before it's too late! read more

In a pinch this isn't a bad place to visit! I am a little unsure of the level of cleanliness, my usual nail opens freshly sanitized tools with every service. I got a pedicure and full set. I was rushed to choose a color, understandable it was Friday they were very busy. The lady doing my pedicure was busy holding a side conversation with several other employees in their native language. She would stop every so often and slap my feet and laugh. I felt it was a little rude. She did a great job on my toes, but rushed me out of the chair when a friend of hers showed up. I had to wait a few for my fullset. The guy that did my nails was busy training a young girl as he did my nails. The spoke to one another but bearly me. All in all its a cute little shop and they do fairly decent work! If I was pressed for time I would visit them again. I guess I'm just spoiled by my home salon. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I had the worst experience of my life at Sun Nails on Michigan Avenue in West Dearborn. I got my nails done on Wednesday.. I'll be nice & not use names of the workers BUT on Thursday I woke up with 2 chipped nails and I knew the moment I left the salon they were gonna come off easy because he rushed my nails. I did shellac and no manicure..by Thursday night 4 of my nails were chipped which, mind you, I had not washed any dishes or done anything aggressive to hurt my nails in any way. (it's not my first time getting shellac I've done it like 30 times) so on Friday moenifn I told myself I was fed up cuz I literally had 5 chipped nails. ITS BEEN 2 DAYS!!!! I walked in and asked if they can fix my chipped nails and 4 workers hovered around me with shining lights as if I was a crazy person cuz I asked them to fix them for me. after 20 mins they finally started to take my shellac off & asked me what color I used I told them the number of the shellac color and they claimed they couldn't find it.. which was odd.. but whatever. they asked me to pick another color instead so I did.. then after the lady looks at me and says "it's gonna be $15 again" excuse me? I came here 2 days ago and payed $20 why do you need me to pay again? they rolled their eyes at me. treated me like I was a child and looked at me like I was garbage. although my whole family went there and we were loyal customers they just lost many customers because of the way they treated me. when my sister called to ask why they disrespected me the one worker called my sister a b**ch and hung up in her face. I almost didn't go here because of other bad reviews but it's close to work so I decided to try. I had a wonderful experience. The shop is nicely decorated and clean. I didn't have to wait at all for my pedicure/shellac manicure. The prices were super reasonable and my nail tech (Bill Lee) did a great job. The only thing that gave me pause was the up charge for a foot massage with my pedi but it was worth every penny of the extra $10. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. I had my shellac done about a week and a half ago and most of my nails have developed chips. The worst part about the chipping is that it started the day after I got my nails done. The nail tech used a drill to get the shellac off and was done in 30 min which I thought was amazing, but now I'm realizing it was not worth the speed. Even though I work with my hands a lot, I've never had a shellac polish that resulted in this monstrosity.
