Hello, This is David the manager of the Sunroom and Spa. Carolyn is the owner, I have never claimed to be the owner. I am responding to Nicole Bender and her complaint about her visit to the salon. She did approach me with a complaint about her hair and I tried to explain to her the positions the hair dressers hold at the salon. I did tell her that I would address her complaints to the hair dresser and see what can be done, I told her that I would be in touch. I spoke to the hair dresser about the problem, she told me that she and Nicole picked out the color she wanted, after the session, Nicole was happy, thanked Mindy for a good job. All of this was verified by 3 other stylist that witnessed the entire visit by Nicole. After 8 days she comes back and complains, I have no idea what shampoo she used to wash her hair in those 8 days, if she used anything besides color guard shampoo it could change the color in 8 days. I am sorry she is unhappy and I hate that her complaint has escalated to the level she has chosen. I am sorry if she took my message as if I was calling her an ass hole directly. When you are dealing with the public and different personally, you will eventually run across 1 you can not please. I am not saying Nicole is in that bracket, just saying in general, you can't please everyone. I will stand by our stylist at the Sunroom by being some of the best stylist in Asheville, come visit us. Gina Fowler is a FABULOUS stylist who takes awesome care of my hair!! I have never had any issues with the color, highlights or any of the cuts I have received at the Sun Room. Gina is such a perfectionist when it comes to your hair, that she won't let you get up from her chair if your hair doesn't look "just perfect"... LOL. Several of the other stylists (Amanda, Ron, Trudy) and Jessica at the front desk, have also been extremely welcoming and friendly as well. A couple of times, I have stopped by Tonya's table for a full manicure... and again, I have had nothing but exemplary service. Penny Johnson, stylist at the Sun Room, in my opinion, is the best hair stylist EVER! Penny is a talented professional stylist. She's suggested alternative ideas after I tell her what I (think) I want. Thankfully I choose her ideas/suggestions and walk out of the salon knowing my hair looks great and I feel great!! I highly recommend calling the Sun Room and Spa if you're searching for a stylist that's happy and treats all customers with respect and dignity. I just want to take a moment and brag on the girls at The Sun Room. My mother and I have been coming to Trudy for a couple of years now for all of our hair needs, cuts color. They make you feel at home when you're here, Trudy, Kerri and Gina are all sweet and will speak to you and ask how you've been and even ask about my grandmother if she isn't here. I will not go to anyone else to have my hair cut or colored because Trudy does an awesome job I never leave here disappointed. My Hairdresser is Carrie. I am a Black woman who travels an hour for her to do my hair, and she is very knowledgeable about multi-cultural hair. She blow dries, flat irons and trims my hair, and I am very pleased. She is always pleasant, on time and cares about my hair and me as a person. Carrie even remembered our last conversation and gave me a referral for a business matter. Everyone else in the salon has been quite pleasant and attentive, and some have been very complimentary. All the employees are very professional and are very talented. I wouldn't keep going if they DID NOT DESERVE IT! Honestly, Mindy has an ego, but in fact she needs a lot more education before getting behind the chair. Honestly, the only negative is the salon needs to be updated including the ladies restroom. The ladies restroom looks horrible with all the exposed water lines. But, it's all fixable and has nothing to do with the service you receive. I've been going to the Sunroom for MANY years, even when it was over at Westgate, and I can honestly say that I have never left disappointed! From hair, to nails, to tanning and everything in between, their services are top notch! I even tried the Miguan bed once!! Always having "specials" and keeping the customers happy! I come here and get my hair done by Trudy Reese and absolutely love it here, they are super friendly and do not rush to get your hair done, they take their time and do it right, my mom, daughter and I have been coming here for a while and I won't go to anyone else, I highly recommend this place to get the hair style you want and get it done right read more
