Love my tan, the ambience is almost like you're somewhere tropical. Very friendly employee helped me, and also spray tanned me. Her name was Grace. The spray took less than 10 min, but I don't think she was that efficient. I have a lot of splotches left on my body. Over all the color is nice, just wish I had a mitt to rub it all in. read more

I used to think who would be the dumb person that would PAY to get a tan when living in Hawaii and you are 15 minutes away from any beach.... well that dumb person is me now lol. I realized that even that i am so close to the ocean i have no time to go to the beach and even if i go its always less than 2 hours and i am super white so it would take way more than that to get a tan... I take good care of my skin so i dont do the beds but just the spray tan. I realized that it really depends on who the girl the sprays you is because sometimes i have to come next day to retouch (free) but sometimes it just looks perfect! I do the 1 hour venitian and it always looks good so i like to get "fake tan" when i have special events. Overall, i would still come back :) read more

Went for a spray tan, with only one person working at night, this place was a mad house. The attendant was running cleaning beds, checking in customer and on top of that she did spray tans. Therefore the results of my spay tans left a lot to be desired. Definitely won't recommend. read more

I've been to Sun Splash a number of times over the years, always with a great experience. My most recent visit was for red light therapy. Currently I am using up sessions at a different location and wanted to check out other businesses offering this service. Sun Splash mainly caters to to tanning clientele (beds & sunless spray tans) but they do have one stand up red light unit. The Red Light Healing Center only has lay down style beds but the Sun Splash one is standing, which I prefer. It also has a unique vibrating floor, which is adjustable and can be turned off completely if it's not your thing. The full running time is 12 minutes! The lay down beds I'm used to go for 20; I am curious about the time difference and the impact on effectiveness. I have yet to inquire about the stats on irradiance, infrared vs. near infrared, etc. I know one thing for sure, it's less expensive compared Red Light Healing Center! The front desk staff was friendly and extremely helpful. My experience definitely gave me something to consider once my sessions run out at RLHC. read more

Yes, I live in Hawaii and I occasionally go to a tanning salon. I don't go as much as I did when I lived in New Jersey(20 yrs). Yeh, I admit- I was very "Jersey Shore-like". I go to this salon when it's been months since I have been to the beach, I am pale, and don't want to burn. I am Caucasian/Japanese, so I am pretty pale. I bought the buy 3/get 1 free package for $49.31/Level 2. I also buy the least expensive lotion, as it seems to condition your skin and hold the tan longer. I like the standup tanner best because it is a quick 10-mins and you don't get wierd spots on your butt, like with the liedown beds. I go 3 days in a row and then the last one the following week. I have my tan back in no time, without the burn that I would have gotten if I just went straight into a beach/hiking day. Not sure if a light bulb tan or chemicals absorbed into your skin(spray tan) is worse, but I don't care~ I look good tan. :) This is a good tanning salon- people are nice, it's clean, prices are reasonable, and you can get in and out quickly! read more

So I check this place out back in November and great products I do spray tans only so it can get a little bit sketchy and frustrating when trying to get an actual spray tan because of the colors or the splashing or fading etc. I like this place because if you came back the next day if you need to touch up it was free and they also called you that morning to see how your tan turned out and if you need to go ahead and schedule to come and have a touchup. Now I've been doing sunless Tanning for roughly 22 years and even the best one I've ever had I still had to get touchups done the next day. Yesterday I was able to go in now that they're open thankfully, and I got a spray tan done by Lisa who is great and he worked with me but I have tons of questions and can kind of be picky about how I am sprayed, and I don't think I want anybody to ever do it again besides Lisa. Between her professionalism and her easy-going personable attitude it made things extremely comfortable and for the first time ever I do not have To go in and have a touchup done. Now throughout my experience working with this place and the ones who work there, every single person that I have encountered has been amazing and very accommodating so if I could give more stars I would if I could give individual five stars each person I totally would and I'm hoping that Lisa plans on sticking around for quite a while because not having to have a touch of done the next day is amazing. On top of just my interactions with the personnel whenever I go there I also get my email updates that are not overwhelming overbearing, with awesome discounts and amazing deals, and personalize individual phone calls to check in with me on how my color/skin/tan is going or if I have any questions as well as to give individual updates as we were dealing with this COVID-19 situation. Was a big skeptic of spray tanning. I came to Hawaii to relax and hang out on the beach. When I got here I noticed my lack of tanning recently. I have become more pale than I'd like. I looked up Sun Splash Tans and was on my way. Got a Venetian 1 hr tan with PH balance. The PH balance insures that you will not turn Orange or Green as I have before the one other time I've spray tanned. I definitely didn't want to look of an Oompa Loompa. So far I am very pleased with results. Not to mention Angela was amazing. She is friendly and professional. She was very thorough and made sure I was happy with my tan after I was sprayed. Staff is very friendly and responsive. Even offered free sample of tanning lotion which i would have taken if I wasn't allergic to so many things. I didn't want to wait 15 minutes to do a small patch skin test in case I get dermatitis or hives but take the free sample if offered, if you have no allergy problems like me. The level 4 bed i usually use for 10 minutes, was changed to a new one and it's cool, I don't get hot like the older one that was there. They disinfect the surfaces fast also. They provide cleaning wipes, a clean towel (but I bring my own), deodorant spray, disinfectant and cleaning towel. You'll have to buy or bring your own eye protection which was about $6.50 when I went. It's reasonable. I tend to buy the 10 session package good for a year. My color usually is retained quite a while so I go about every 4-5 weeks. read more

Very convenient location. Good choice of beds. I prefer two the stand up options because standups have always given me a more even tan. The Kauai bed seems to be the best value, whereas the Big Island bed is very powerful but pricey. The staff is very friendly. The parking is free. And when I come in the evenings after work there is almost never a wait. My only complaint is the lack of flexibility in the monthly plans. I wish I could put any unused tanning sessions towards and upgrade in plans. read more

BEST. SPRAY. TAN. EVER. I am so addicted that I purchased a membership plan and go once a week just about! The bronze color is really natural looking IMHO. I used to get the "chocolate" color-- now I go for "dark chocolate"- seems to go better with my skin tone. I recommend trying both to see what works for you. The girls who work here are all awesome, Jenna (the manager), Shayna, Brittney-- superior customer service and just sweet girls who do a good job and are very thorough. I always fee like they actually CARE-- like a lot- about how their works turns out. Tips for spray- - exfoliate a TON the day before, plan your tan so you have 6 solid hours of "dry time" - this means you can't get wet AT ALL and you will have a sticky bronzer on you that can wipe off on to fabrics and also just look kinda awful. So I usually get a spray after work then go straight home and don't do much on tan night! read more

I grew up in Hawaii but live full time in SF where I basically stay covered up and get no sun. This is nice for my super pale skin (because I love that look) but gets rather annoying when I come back to Hawaii and have to stay covered with long sleeves and a hat constantly. I've used tanning beds before at sunsplash with pretty good results. Being super pale, the beds always burned me even on the lowest level and this discouraged me from continuing. Yesterday, however, I decided to go in and try a spray tan. What a fun decision! Tracy (staff memeber) was awesome--very professional and nice. She made me feel comfortable and explained everything I needed to know about sunless tanning. She even called me the next morning so see if I was satisfied with the results. It was a bit expensive, but I think paying for a staff member to spray you down (instead of a machine) is worth the extra cash, no streaks here. Last night I looked like Aunt Jemima, because you have to leave on an external bronzer as the tan sets in for 6 hours, but this morning I just look super naturally tan without all the freckles, I love it! The following reasons determined my rating for Sun Splash: THUMBS DOWN - For the TERRIBLE, headache of a parking lot... Not entirely their fault; yet still, they do assume some responsibility, as when choosing a location, parking availability for client is something (a big something, at that) for the business to consider. THUMBS UP - For the very welcoming, friendly and informative staff. Nothing turns me away more than the vibe of a sales person just tryin to sell sell sell, with no regard for client needs or wants; I did not get this vibe upon first impression here. I was well- informed, my questions were answered (and truthfully, as a former salon assistant manager, I actually already knew some of the answers and was seeing if they'd be truthful or not - they were) THUMBS DOWN - For pretty pricey tanning bed packages. KUDOS for the variety of beds and packages, but a little pricier than they should be.... HOWEVER.... THUMBS UP - For well priced SPRAY TANS... The least expensive I've found in the area with comparable quality... And for someone who typically tans at the beach, but sometimes just wants a darker, faster SPRAY - this is beneficial. Overall, because of the ups and downs, the average for me is a 3.... If they create some sort of "locals" discount or say, "Buy 4 sprays, get the 5th FREE" like some other places in the area offer, I may be inclined to raise my star rating.... I have been fair skinned all my life and I also have very sensitive skin that refuses to change color, unless of course than color is red (ouch). Living in Hawaii, the majority of people would say, you can get sun for free why would you go tanning? It's not the same 1. I absolutely cannot stand the sight and feel of sand, it makes me itchy. 2. I have many issues with revealing anything more than 2 inches of my torso in public. 3. I don't like tan lines. Therefore, sunsplash tans has been my go-to and solves all my issues that comes with having a beautiful glow! The staff members are so nice and friendly and it's a very relaxing environment. They even have cute little stickers to let you see how much of a tan you've gotten. I personally recommend moisturizing and using a bronzer to enhance your tan, and to exfoliate at home prior to your tan. I use the level 5 which is about 12 minutes long and is a stand-up tan. After your tan there are towels/wipes and even deodorant for you to use. Parking is fairly easy, right in the lot that is shared with jamba juice and starbucks. I'm from New York so when I go to a tanning salon I'm used to a guy with orange skin and hair spiked up with a tub of gel (think jersey shore) manning the register. I knew that I was far away from home but this is a different world! Tracy, the only employee working there that night was such a sweetheart. She is so friendly and really knows her stuff. My BF and I both came in to get spray downs and it was the first time for the both of us. She was very professional and made us feel comfortable bout being nekked in front of her.
