I do not usually write lengthy yelp reviews or reviews at all but this place deserves it. I stopped by this salon on Friday and spoke with the manager, he was an awesome guy and extremely friendly but still wanted to shop around a bit and did not know about making the commitment. I forget his name but he was easily one of the most welcoming people and I must say it was busy at the time I came in and he awknowledged me right away, extremely good sense of humor as well. Then I came back in today and was showed around and realized that this place is hands down the coolest tanning salon I have ever been too, it looks extremely hip and hollywood. I am an avid spray tanner back at home and wanted to buy a package of spray tans for my daughter to use while at school. My daughter goes to Loyola Marymount University right up the road. I shopped around at a few of the tanning salons around the area and this one caught my eye. They had fliers up around school which my daughter showed me which drew me in but I was thinking "Damn, another pricy LA tanning salon" but when I was shown what I did not know was a special room for custom spray tanning it was like no equipment I have ever seen before. The girl working showed me the different ways the solution could be mixed to match my skin tone along with my daughters. She was very informative. It was a pleasant surprise knowing that my daughter could share these tans with her friends when I purchased the package and that they never expire. Most places I have looked at make you use sessions in a certain amount of time, THEY DONT! They even had student pricing especially for students such as my daughter which I found extremely nice. Jordyn set me up with a package and even threw in a free tan since it was my first time purchasing here and all I had to do was have my daughter bring in her student ID card. The salon looked clean and kept up well despite being busy. I am glad my daughter recommended me to stop by there for her from seeing there fliers around campus because we almost went with a more expensive alternative down the street. The pricing is extremely fair, friendliest customer service I have received considering I am from Texas and the southern hospitality is not always present in LA, and left the salon laughing with a smile on my face both times I went in. The girl working did mention that they book up fast though so to always make an appointment first and they also have another location that the tans can be used at. Despite the fact we did not have an appointment she took my daughter in anyways. I must say it was the most natural "fake" tan I have ever seen. My daughter was nervous before going in and was made to feel extremely comfortable. They are not pushy which I like like most of the salons I have been too. The staff really knows their facts even up to the ingredients in the formulas they use in the spray tan. I ended up buying two products for my daughter as well which were especially for their specific spray tan. So needless to say my daughter loves it, and I feel my money was well spent. Was a Versa customer of Sun Studio for quite a while, but they lost me tonight. I went to the location about a month ago at 10:28p as I was running late, and there's a 30 minute cutoff before the 11:00p store close. I was turned away. Fine. They were following the rules although they closed down 2 minutes early, and that's fine. Service over the last month has been inconsistent, but I'm there every 7-10 days, so that's fine. Tonight I went at 9:45p knowing they close at 11p, and the location was already closed and locked up tight though employees were still inside. Was told they close at 10p. I pointed at the window which still reads 11p. As does the website. As does this Yelp page (as of now...and if this doesn't change soon, double-bad). The only indication of early closure is an 8.5x11 paper taped up to off to the side, and you have to have it pointed out to you to ever see it, let alone read it. No one supplied notice of this change to customers via email, FB, Yelp, or website. So...I've had it. They should know it. AND FIX IT. They have every tool at their disposal to let customers know when things change, and it's bad business not to. And there's too many better-priced Versa competitors in the area to tolerate cavalier practices. read more

Prices are ultra ripoff. Location prices are like a joke! The customer service sucks. There is a one blonde girl there (I can't remember her name. She is not a manager). Maybe Olivia? I don't know! She gave me a lecture the other day. What should I do with my money and such.. Me running 2 businesses, yes I need a lecture! Thanks! Did I ask your advice? I'm coming for tanning, my package is over. Of course you are going to offer and sell me the deal but don't cross the line because you need a commission. She was straight up rude. I told my reason why I'm not getting the level 4. It is usually too much for me. It burns me, that's why I'm using the 3 level. She goes "Duh! Well, That's kind a dumb! I have never heard had before. Haha"! She even laughs at the end! Am I your friend?! Are you kidding me? They have cameras, but there is no sound! The owner should watch the employees closer. There are tons of tanning salons out there, so it's a quite competitive business. I would just try to earn loyal customers with good deals and a GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

I have always done UV tanning, which I love..but I have been too nervous to try spray tanning. After seeing the results of the airbrush on other people, I had to try it out for myself. I LOVE my custom airbrush results! Chelsey did an amazing job! She is not only very sweet, but she makes airbrushing in to an art. She is very thorough, and she makes sure that she sprays flawlessly! I love the color that she mixed for me, it was exactly the shade that I wanted to go. I don't have one single streak or blotch on me. I didn't think that was possible after a spray tan. I give her 5 stars and highly recommend her and the custom airbrush at sun studio! read more

I pass Sun Studio LA everyday traveling to and from work. I finally decided to give them a try, so I went in and booked an appointment for an airbrush spray tan. Well, I was totally impressed with the service I received from the technician Ashton!! She was awesome, very professional and made me feel very comfortable. My spray tan was beautiful and looked very natural. What I was most pleased with was I didn't feel rushed because the spray machine was not on a timer, which ensured a true custom tan and also I didn't have stained palms or stained soles. This has got to be the best tanning salon on the planet. It is first of all the cleanest I have ever seen!!! The people there are super nice. I love the fact that they can actually talk to you without trying to force you to buy somthing all the time like other salons do. I know they have a job to do but geez enough already. This place is pretty awesome. I usually use the tanning beds but my friend Eric recommended an airbrush tan with Alex. I didn't think it would look natural on a guy but he convinced me to try it. I have to say she is really good at what she does. She does contouring and really takes her time to mix the colors and make sure the tone is natural and believable. I've tried a few different tanning salons and this one is by far the best!! The staff is very helpful and accommodating! I especially love their Spray Tan, it's great for special occasions and I never have to worry about looking orange. The spray tan really compliments my skin tone and gives a very natural look. Sun studio LA has hands down the best spray tan. They have 5 different colors they can custom mix so you can choose just how dark you want to be. Chelsey did my most recent spray tan and it was perfect! Just the right shade and so natural looking. Can't wait to come back for another one! read more
