I've had the very worst experience at THIS SUNTAN CITY LOCATION. Last April my husband and I went in for two things. He wanted to lay in the bed and I wanted a double dip which is tanning bed followed by versa instant tan. I was billed $160 first; tried to dispute; then called 270 Customer Service Number. I was told my husband had outstanding payments due after he stopped going and without telling me they just took $120 of $160 out of my account. Next I had a $307 charge the next week. Exactly 7 days. I again called and threw a fit. Let's face it we could fly to the virgins islands for less than $500 for a real tan. The girl was new and overcharged us on packages. He was getting $99 for a year tanning bed package. But wait M! He still is charged $28.99 a month and I'm charged $69.99 a month I tan once every three months. Don't give them your card; you'll be extremely sorry! read more

HUGE PROBLEM that stc needs to be aware of and I would hope not let happen again. I have had a membership here for the past 10 years at least. Some of those years being the most expensive membership offer they have. That alone gives a good idea of how loyal a customer I have been, but that I have spent A LOT of money there. However, stc could really care less about keeping me as a customer and instead, made it so difficult to even be one. My payments come out monthly from my debit card. Unfortunately, there was fraud on my card so I had to cancel that one and wait for a new card to come in the mail.. which took at least 2 weeks. My Monthly payment to STC was unable to be taken out due to my card being canceled and while waiting on my new card, I could only withdraw cash. But cash is still currency here in America, so that shouldn't be a problem right? Wrong. I was not allowed to pay for the month in cash because they do not accept cash. Ridiculous. Do you want my money or not? So while I was at work, I had my dad call to pay for it through his card and I'd just give the cash. Well, they wouldn't let him do that unless he came in. Why? I really don't even remember or care because do you want my money or not??? So I was ecstatic to find out that it was free tan week!! Talked my roommate into going and getting one with me because she had never been. But NO. They told me since that month hadn't been paid for yet, I couldn't tan. I explained to them that I was there for the free tan week. They said I was not allowed to tan for free until I paid that month. I explained to them the different ways I have TRIED to pay them and the reasons why but they just shrugged, said there was nothing they could do, wouldn't let me get the "free" tan. BUT!!! They let my roommate, who has never given them even a penny, get the tan!!! The ridiculousness of this whole situation and the way it was handled, more than once, left me dumbfounded.. and no longer a customer there. read more

I am a returning customer from a couple of years back and I just went in to reactivate services. The person at the counter was very nice and helpful with which package would work best for me and I had my credit card out and ready to pay when she informed me that there would be a $20 charge this first month which is above and beyond the advertised pricing. I was already committing to a two months of service and potentially more. I asked the attendant what I would get for this $20 and she tried to answer but in my opinion she knew it was a BS charge. I picked up my credit card and thanked her for her time and let her know that I did not want to do business with an organization that pulled those stunts with returning customers. They had to do nothing because I was already in there system, all they had to do was take my money. It's a nice facility but what a way to welcome back a customer. If you do go there or I guess any other Sun Tan City, check out the true price. What a waste of my time after being told the price and driving over. read more

Don't bother, they take your money and do ZERO to help customers, no matter their situation. Their site says "satisfaction guaranteed" but that is far from true. Store said I could pay to upgrade or drive further to another location with my bed. This was a rep's fault for signing me up for a bed that wasn't at my location. I was out of town dealing w a family member that was dying and hopped on a chat to get signed up in an effort to make the process less on my end. Yet corporate STILL wouldn't make it right when I asked for a refund. And the only way to get in touch w corporate is through chat or email, no phone number available on their site. Checked in online and got right in when I arrive Friendly staff and clean equipment Once a week for 10 minutes keeps me tan year round. Great way to finish my one day a month when "it's all about me" pampering. Hair cut, message, nice dinner and the tan. I have never been a fan of Sun Tan City for the same reason I'm not a fan of chain restaurants. So when my beloved Ultra Tan abruptly closed on April 1st, I was upset to be left with only this place as a choice for my weekly spray tan and occasional 'real' tan. I was given a 1-month free pass as a previous Ultra Tan customer. From day one, it has been an overall unpleasant experience. First it was the rush of all the Ultra Tan customers trying to set up new accounts. Wait times were unreasonably long, which was exacerbated by the desk staff's attempt to sell something (packages, upgrades, lotion, eyewear, etc) to every single customer who comes in to tan. It's clear that the main objective is to "sell more, more, more!" Slow that line down even more, people! So then they have signs posted everywhere to check in for tanning online to save wait time. Well yeah, I'm all in for THAT! So of course I set that up. Now every time I walk in and they scan the little account card they ask with a puzzled look "uh......did you check in online?" Yes, yes I did. I mean, wouldn't everyone these days? I'm not sure if their online/app check in system is new or not, but they act surprised that someone is using it. Followed by some confusion and asking what my name is, etc. And even though checking in online is supposed to eliminate the wait, it doesn't always. However, one plus is that you at least get bumped to the front of the wait line (like Disney -- just as complicated but without the mouse). So what used to be a carefree, quick and easy trip to Ultra Tan has now turned into a complicated sales pitch of a slow-as-molasses trip to Sun Tan City. They get 2 stars instead of 1 because I do like their spray tan system (Versa Pro). It produces a nice even coverage and color. If they can simplify things, become more fluid with their app check-ins, and quit trying to sell water to a fish I would consider buying a spray tan package. read more

They must be trying to challenge the TSA for the longest wait time with the poorest customer service award. That really screams that Suntan City has business goals to the world. It isn't as amazing as someone airbrush tanning you, but you also don't have to endure the uncomfortability of standing naked and sprawled out haha! If I could give less than 1 star I would. The employees do not explain all commitments properly. You can not cancel a membership easily. It's an argument to get anything fixed. I am currently doing laser treatments and was told by the nurses at the laser place to tan 1-2 times to even out areas where I had a reaction & lost pigment in my skin. So I called my local sun tan city, except you can't call the local store all calls go to corporate in the 270 area code. I tried to ask questions about the types of tanning I needed because now there are like 5 different types of beds. Surprise the guy couldn't answer any questions. He told me to go into the store. So I went to sun tan city. I explained to the girls what I needed and they began offering me packages. I told them over and over that I could not tan regularly due to the laser treatments. They told me the 1 month pkg was cheaper because I got a discount. So I took that. They told me to come in and cancel before the end of November. I called instead but my pkg wasn't cancelled. I found the charges on my credit card statement. Keep in mind I haven't been in the store since the first day. I stopped in the store who informed me that I was charged for December and January. They told me to call the corporate office. I called corporate. The card they gave me has a stamp that said 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. Corporate said that all calls were recorded and they would look for my cancellation call. If they found it then they would go back and refund my 2 months. The guy also told me I agreed when I received the discount in Nov to pay full price for December. This was never explained to me because I told them at the store over & over that I am in the middle of laser treatments. I CAN NOT TAN!! None of this seemed to matter only finding that phone call that could have been made from any of the 4 cell phones in my house or my home number. The guy at corporate wanted all phone numbers even those of my 10 & 14 yr old children. I refused to give out any and all cell phones I could possibly have used. The satisfaction guarantee is a load of rubbish. All he was interested in was finding my phone call. Not that I was lied to, misled or ripped off by his company. The membership months were never used!!!! Why would I keep paying for something that I wasn't using? This company is only interested in what they can take you for. Stay away. read more

Went here today to get a spray tan with my sister. I was checked in and went back in 30 minutes. My sister on the other hand was checked in by a new employee. She paid for her spray tan and 2 hours later we were still waiting for her to get called back. So she went up to ask what was going on, and the new girl never put her in the queue! So we waited 2 hours for nothing. They said they would put her back in the queue and she would be next. 30 minutes later and still no call back. I went up again to see what was going on and they said that she still was not in the system. The key holder was very unfriendly when telling her what happened and laughed under her breath. Turns out the room had been empty and she was finally able to go back after 2 and a half hours of waiting because of the mistakes of an employee. The worst part about it though, was that there was NO apology. This is the only Sun Tan City I've been to and if I go back at all, it will most definitely not be this one. Went here today and I had a great experience! A lady named Amanda checked me in at the front desk and she helped me out tremendously. I've been here like 3 times before and since I'm very new to the tanning world, I was very hesitant on asking how it all works out. Walking in I received great customer service and she made me feel comfortable asking her about how it all works out! She informed me on the different tanning beds, how it works, while also informing me on the upcoming deals that are coming up for the holidays. Definitely recommend this place read more

I had a good experience. It being derby week, I was impressed that I only had to wait 12-20 minutes. The woman I worked with allowed me as much time as I needed to ask questions. Only downside is that she did try to up sell me every chance she got. She said the price was 36 with or without the product. When I said I was told it started at 24, she changed her tune. I get that the employees are trained to do that, so I really didn't pay it any mind. She spent time showing me how to use the sunless tanning room/bed/thing. I used the new bed, I chose clear, so I'm not sure of the results just yet. Overall, decent experience. They are doing a good job during a busy season! Update. The new booth left me a little streaky. One star is too much. I went into the location to get spray tanned. By the end of the conversation it was $45 for the spray and a moisturizer. Let me say I said no to 2 other things... I went into the booth and the 1st round did not spray. The 2nd round of spray worked with the moisterizer. I came out and explained that I was not use to this machine and there was no liquid that came out the 1st round. I asked three times if that was the way it worked. She said yes. The next day I was leaving out of town for New Years. I called and complained that night before and they said they would give me a refund. So on my vacation with my family, I had to be there at opening time. She said there was something wrong with the machine. This time I did not get the moisterizer AND I did not get the credit. Getting sprayed every two weeks, I do NOT recommend this place and it's pricey. Plus there is so much liquid your feet will be orange whether you do primer or not. So I reached out to "contact us" and they pretty much said oh well in their so professional words. I will find every review board and NOT recommend them.
