Terrible Experience - Will Not Return What should have been a quick 10-minute process turned into an hour and a half of frustration on my Saturday. I went to Suntan City to re-start a tanning membership, and the lady who assisted me, Ellie, explained that since I was signing up mid-month (March 22nd), my membership would be prorated this month. She then sent me to Room 6 for my tanning session, but when I walked in, someone was already using the bed. It was awkward and inappropriate, and I felt awful for interrupting her. I returned to the front desk to report the issue, but when I checked my account, I noticed I was charged double the amount. Thankfully, I caught the mistake before it was too late. Ellie had put my card and routing number on someone else's account for an unlimited membership. She had no idea how to fix the issue and took over an hour to attempt a resolution--without offering a single apology. After waiting for so long, Lexi stepped in and managed to contact customer service to sort things out. I asked Lexi if there was any chance of compensation for this mess--specifically, if I could get the rest of the month free--and she called her manager, Emma. Emma's response? One free tanning session. Ridiculous. Meanwhile, other customers were walking in, and Ellie was nowhere to be found, leaving poor Lexi to handle everything on her own. Ellie never apologized for the situation and disappeared for another 20 minutes, leaving both Lexi and me waiting. This was an incredibly frustrating experience, and the lack of professionalism and accountability was shocking. I will not be returning to Suntan City. read more

I'm not sure why this place is so poorly rated. I've had a membership here for a few months and all of my experiences have been positive. Accessing this place if you aren't familiar with the area can be a little challenging, because it's a sharp turn that is east to miss. Parking is always readily available. They have plenty of beds, they offer lay down, stand up and the versa spa. Lots of variety to choose from and I don't think I've ever had to wait long for a bed. Staff has always been friendly to me, they offer a lot of promotions so it's easy to get a discounted spray or an upgraded bed depending on the promotion. They always check that you have your eyewear which I can appreciate. Cleanliness could be better especially when you have back to back clients in a bed, this would be my area that needs improvement. Overall I think this is a great spot and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a tan. read more

Rating is based solely on service. Only one attendant is ever working so lines are always long. Employees do not prioritize those waiting and instead cater to those who are opening new memberships. I have encountered rude, uninterested and snarky service consistently at this location. Understaffed and unprofessional. read more

I came here from out of town (out of state) to use the tanning bed. I called ahead of time but there Was no answer. I walk in and was told To go outside (in a rude tone) because of the limited capacity (corona ) which is understandable ...but what is NOT understandable is the front desk staff I said HI I tried calling but no one answered. And she immediately said- well I have been here all day. And then, I said well I called this number...Anyways, I told Her I would like to purchase a one time Tan because I am Only here tor the weekend. She asked me for my Id And I told her, oh it's In the hotel a few Miles away. Can you make a one time exception. I mean, I did try and call ahead of time. When no one answered to try and get BASIC information. I know it sounds silly but I have a photo of my ID on my phone ( this is 2021 right) and she and the "manager" said it was not Acceptable ... I didn't know when I came to tan that in their eyes I was buying beer ? Applying for a house? A credit card? ...GEEZ! A sweet smile from The south would have been nice ! And some Positive attitude! My husband and I really like this place. We're casual tanners through the winter just to keep a base tan but have gone to a lot of different places. Cons for this place: PRICE - it is so stinking expensive for the month. We don't go often enough to justify the price but weren't able to find a way to reduce the costs (like buying sets of visits or anything). Pros: great beds! We uses the mid-level "fastest" beds and they are phenomenal. We get enough color after one visit to only have to go a handful of times per months. They're also super comfy beds with music and fan adjustment options so you can relax while their. Yes, the women at the front try to sell us stuff EVERY time we're in there, but a simple 'no' appeases them. Minus the price, you can't beat this place. They take great care of the equipment and there are so many beds and options that it's easy to get in quick. read more

I am in Nashville visiting from Laguna Beach California. I have been looking for somewhere to spraytan in the last two cities I have been traveling in and couldn't find anywhere. I yelped spray tan and found this place. Very surprised their star rating is so low. My experience has been great. I went in the guy that was at the front was so friendly and patient with all my questions. He told me that I can buy two spray tans for just $5 more than just one ANDDDD they gave me a free bottle of primer and color boost. (( I honestly love the color boost)) This expressions spraytan booth has given me the best natural looking tan I have ever had! It doesn't smell bad and it dried super fast so I didn't feel as sticky as I normally do. My husband hates spraytan and he even said that it looks amazing! Someone please tell me where I can find one of these booths with the tanning solution I need one for my home in Cali! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a good spraytan! PS .. some friendly advice to the people about how their hands and feet look like Oompa Loompas that's not the tanning salons fault. Know how to take care of your spraytan. I rub the lotion they provide on my hands and continue to rub it in after each time the spray nozzle sprays so it doesn't build up around your knuckles and fingers. Rub the lotion in on your feet after you are completely done. It really helps the look of your tan. You can also wrap hairnets around your feet so you can protect the bottom of your feet. Just make sure to rub lotion on your feet where the lines are to blend. read more

Seriously horrible customer service. I always tan here but do not ask them any questions or interact with them because it's always attitude or "not my problem." Online I selected to tan 15 minutes, lady at the front desk only put me in for 2 minutes and I didn't realize until I started. I call and ask to extend time and they can't because you can't tan twice in one day. I was annoyed but whatever. I go to the front desk to ask if I could extend my monthly membership for one day since they messed up my tan, and I'm assuming the shift lead told me they couldn't do anything about it and I just needed to contact IT or call online. Didn't apologize, didn't try to make up for it, nothing. An hour out of my day wasted and a tanning session out of my membership wasted. If you don't want to help customers then choose another job please. read more

Since my last review in 2012, not much has changed, even the price. which is great since this place offers such high quality. In 2012, there were four bed choices- fast ($19), faster ($39), fastest ($59) and instant ($79). Now, there is no fast bed so only 3 choices- faster ($39), fastest ($59) and instant ($79). They also have Versa Spray tan which they also offered back in 2012 too. Aside, from that, here are the pros: - Open 7 days a week - Late hours- closes at 11pm everyday! - Parking in the back (with additional in underground garage) - Its clean - Great Tanning beds - Beds have facial tanners (start out low though) - No wait time (or if there is, its a short wait). Cons - Not super cheap but still alright - The area can get shady at night time- they need security guards or better lighting and security cameras - It can be awkward signing in- maybe instead of the technicians having to ask for last name, they could issue member numbers like at Planet Fitness. - Spray tan machine, Versa (as opposed to the spray tan being done by a technician) read more

Customer service here is atrocious. I asked for one drop in. Repeated several times that's all I was looking for even being offered four different packages that offer me nothing I needed. The "manager" would barely look in my direction as the girl was trying to accommodate me and finally when he left because he was being no help, she told me "drop ins lower their score." I'm sorry about that, but at some point your lack of customer service is going to drop your score a lot more. I'm not spending $50 on things I don't need when I can spend $12. I'll drive 15 min out of my way next time. read more

Tried to go in during free spray tan week tonight. I've done this for a few years at different locations and never had an issue. Employee (female with red hair and tattoos) tried to tell me I could only get light and then shilled a $29.95 package. Told her my friend just went to the Franklin location tonight and had no issues getting a medium shade for free with no packages pushed on her. I spray tan frequently, but I will never be back to this location. Super disappointing customer service. Please don't waste your money here. read more

Don't ever sign up with this company. I was told I couldn't cancel my membership even though my contract stated I could. Difficult process to get someone at corporate to "over ride". Plus the tan comes out in splotches. Better off self tanning or buying your own machine for sprays. read more

I usually stay far away from a tanning bed, as I like to preserve my skin, but every now and then I like to get a little color quickly. I really like this place - very clean, very nice, and hardly ever a wait for a bed. I went a few months ago to get some color prior to wearing a dress (the time before that was summer '08....I hardly ever come). I always go in the "Fastest" browning bed because I tend to burn the least in there & it is, well, pretty darn fast! After much discussion I decided it was the best value for the money to pay for the rest of the year to tan. I have unlimited tanning in the fastest beds until the end of 2010 - way more tanning that I'll ever use but better than buying 10 visits ala carte. I also found out that I can use the Versa Spa sunless tanning as much as I want! I wish I'd found out sooner, but at least now I know. I wanted to try it & they said I could do a "double dip" which means tan in a regular tanning bed & then do the Versa Spa. So I did! I was SO dark - darker than I've ever been before. The only catch to the Versa Spa is that you can't shower 4-6 hours afterwards and sleeping on it overnight is best. I'm sure even after my unlimited deal expires, I'll be back here again. Be sure to give them your email address & you'll get all sorts of deals in your inbox! Also - as far as parking, you can hit a meter spot or go under the shopping center & park for free. ONLY THE BEST TANNING SALON EVER! I was in search of the Versa Spa and low and behold they have the updated Versa with the heater so you no longer have to suffer the torture of being sprayed with cold bronzer and then be blown off while your teeth are chattering so hard you wonder if it is even worth the glow. Not only is the place immaculate and clean. I think the Versa is slightly over priced but with the upgraded heater I don't mind paying a few extra bucks. The staff seem very friendly but be prepared for the product up-sale every time you go in, but I am sure the commission helps with the paycheck. read more

I came in Friday night to get a spray tan. Alyssa or Allison was fantastic! She gave me several options to find the best fit for my needs, and showed me multiple products that she herself uses. When I asked about things she hadn't she was honest but told me what other customers thought of it. She also showed grace and patience as she dealt with the crowd alone while her coworker stayed on her phone off to the side of the desk. I ended up double dipping and I really do see a difference. If I end up getting a membership I would definitely get it from her! She's very honest and sweet. Their store was top notch and very clean to so I will definitely come back again. I'm always happy with the results, but the customer service at the West End location kind of sucks. (I usually go to a different one.) I wanted to use an online deal which was $15 for any spray tan. First the girl tried to tell me the deal was over. I had to show her the website on my phone. THEN she tried to tell me the cost was $27 because I needed hydration. It's a good spot for a booth spray tan. This was my second time spray tanning and I honestly love with the results. It started to fade a little after the sixth day which was perfect. Guys up front are nice and helpful. Will in particular was awesome and handled my indecisiveness with so much patience! I was skeptical with the reviews but went for it anyway. It's just like any other spray tan booth so not sure how the previous bad reviews were blaming the tanning salon lol. All I can say is NOPE. I've been going here for 6 years because there is nothing else affordable in Nashville when it comes to spray tans. There is always a line, and the spray tans are terrible. Let me explain what happened to me tonight ... I have a really important event tomorrow and on Sunday where I'll be photographed a lot, and went in for my usual spray. I have been doing this for SIX YEARS. I know the drill, exfoliate, prime, all that. I got in one of their new booths and the spray started and sprayed me like a shower. It shot out super fast and it looked like I went mudding. I quickly got out and wiped it off. I went to tell the girls and they just replied with "oh must be the nozzle" and I said I was going home to wash it off before it sets. They replied with "well we close in 30 minutes so.....". I was so angry I left before I lost it on them. No one said sorry, no one tried to fix the problem, the way they reacted was so unprofessional. One of the girls rolled their eyes and was bothered at the fact that she had to go look at it. I left. I am so disappointed and will be cancelling my membership first thing in the morning, because they made it very clear they were CLOSING IN 30 MINUTES, so I won't bother them tonight. read more

Bought a 12 month membership for unlimited spray tanning (stating that if I wanted to cancel before the year was up there would be a cancellation fee). I asked them about their cancellation fee and they told me I would pay for 6 months of the membership to cancel and it would end the same month I cancel it. This makes zero sense to me! I worked at a different tanning salon before and the cancellation fee was $50. Makes zero sense to pay for 6 months when you get to enjoy 1 month of the membership (not even 6 months, technically 7 months because I've already paid for this month, plus the 6 months, and it would end this month). Worst tan place I have ever been. I signed up for one month in the middle of the month. I paid the remainder of July and knew I had to pay full price for August ($50). I repeatedly asked the lady questions and she seemed to not comprehend basic questions about billing. I just got $83.46 sucked out of my account for August. I call to ask why it was $30 more...I was told it was for yearly dues. What a ripoff!!! I didn't sign up for a year. I specifically signed up for ONE MONTH. I would just like to start by saying I mostly tan at the portland location, however today I visited the Biddeford location, only to find out my favorite girl the one I love, Penny formerly from the Portland location is the salon director for the Biddeford location now! I will defiantly be making my way to Biddeford more frequently to tan there because of Penny, she is absolutely the best my favorite by far! Penny always gives the best customer service, full attention to each costumer that walks through the door, and of course she's always smiling and very welcoming! She always knows what lotions are best for me and lotions I have loved and used in the past! Just avoid. The other Yelp'ers are right. This location is terrible. The employees don't seem to know what they're doing and there's always a long wait. However, my incident left me burnt ORANGE with clear lines down my body. Think Ross from friends. The girl overcharged me by $30+, the booth didn't spray me/was messed up, and I had to go back and spray. I am now burnt orange and my skin is so tight (pics included). There's something wrong with this location or they're using spray that's unapproved. I have sprayed in Subtan City's versa spas for years and this is the first time I'm orange. I'm more than P'd off. I'm livid. Then they tried to sell me a $30 kit to take it off-NO! You did this to me you give the packet bc you screwed up!! Terrible. read more

Came here on a whim for a last minute spray tan with my bff for a pre wedding glow and the service and results were amazing! We got two sunless spray tans and free product to take home! Which if you know anything about tanning lotions - they can be costly. Jessica and Joe were so sweet and extremely thorough. For a tanning salon this place has it all. They have four different types of beds and the spray stuff. It's $19.99 a month for the weakest bed and then they have you promotions to upgrade to the other beds. It's in the shopping center with Jason's Deli and Five Guys though, so parking can get interesting. They have so many beds though I've never had to wait long for one. They really seem to cater to the Vandy crowd, lots of college students. The staff can be pretty snotty too. They also do the classic up-sale try as well. A good thing about this chain though is that with your membership you can go to all the other Nashville locations as well. read more
