Update* they gave me a redo and it turned out great and the staff is really nice. The manager even called to let me know they are fixing the booth that I used that day. I came here for their special on spray-tans on Sunday. I did the medium versa spa. I'm pretty pale not crazy pale but definitely not tan. Usually from other tanning salons who have the versa spa I get very tan but I feel like when I was sprayed nothing but air sprayed me. I wasn't sure if the person had given me clear and it would show later but the next day I'm just as pale as I was before. I waited a day to write this to be sure but still no tan. Usually you can feel the spray but this time I did not feel the spray so I am not sure what happened. read more

I have been spray tanning at the Creedmoor Road salon for 10 years. The first five years were very impressive. The staff was very friendly, upbeat, accommodating, and customer service oriented. They were fun and knew how to make you feel special and kept the facility very clean. Unfortunately, the past few years the salon seems to be going down hill. The quality of the staff is disappointing and could use some customer service training and they should pay more attention to cleanliness. There are 3 tanning booths and for the past few weeks only one has been working. I have been a member for many years, and the quality of their beds just keeps going down. Currently, three beds are not working, and this has been the case for several days. Apparently the staff has made the owners aware of the situation, but so far those beds are still out of order. This is a common theme for this location. It seems to take weeks to get any repair work done. I understand that the owners actually own several, different locations in the area, so I don't understand what the lax in getting repairs done in a timely manner. Too busy with other locations? Very frustrating indeed! They need to step up their game and keep their customers happy. read more

The waits for spray cans are ridiculous. Not only do they often just have one booth running, but the ladies working the front desk do not know how to properly put people in "line". I will UV tan just to pass some time, but they still put me in line behind all the clients that came in while I was UV tanning. So frustrating to be here over an hour! read more

I have been going here for 20 years and although the staff is nice, the beds need a good thorough cleaning and new bulbs. Unless you pay for the top 2 tiers (Instant or Fastest), the bulbs suck. They never change the Fast or Faster beds. Unfortunately, it is $8-10 more per session to upgrade. read more

Ok so me and my friend went there to get spray tans for prom, I had been there before and I had never heard of the 18 over policy, I was literally there 2 months ago for homecoming and never had an issue with it until today. We walk in and the lady at the front already didn't look nice. She asked if we were 18 and we both said no. She said we had to have a parent in a snarky attitude. I was surprised and said really? And she responded in an even bitchier tone and said "yes mam" and I said I didn't need a parent last time I was here and she started to smile and said "yeah" in the same bitchy tone. So we left. I have been going to the Sun tan city location for the last 6 months. I have been a very loyal customer to this location and also very willing to spend money to tan and buy product. As a former employee to a local tanning solon about 4 years ago I know that you make commission on sales and I want to help someone make money when I walk in. I have been kind, caring and loyal to the company. Very dissatisfied with the lack of respect, integrity, honesty and helpfulness at Sun tan city. I am very well aware of how a reputation works and although the team may have somewhat nice employees they don't care about you or your experience whatsoever. I paid for an all inclusive monthly membership of $84.99 and not only was my payment messed up the first time and I was charged more when returning a second time for something that was not my fault. I paid $150.00 and only got to tan 5-6 times then I got miserably sick with Covid-19 and the business could not do a single thing to accommodate me for there inconveniences and mistakes while I was trying to get well ar home a protect our community from the spread of covid. 100% do not use this location they don't care about customer satisfaction and they lost a great customer today. 04/22/2021 Despicable on both ends the local store and the client services. Its all about the money and they don't even pay there employees enough for what they do so I guess this behavior is expected from a corporate standpoint. read more

Bought a Groupon for a "Tour of the City" and was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and I was able to get into most tanning beds immediately or within a short wait. The staff was also great at giving recommendations for which tanning beds to use, and for how long. I did, however, had to wait almost 2 hours for a spray tan; it was a busy time of the day and there were a lot of prom girls in the salon (so, not something that is anyone's fault). The spray tan itself was okay-- it did look a bit orange in some spots but I was able to fix that with some baking soda and lemon juice. The Sun tan city app doesn't work most of the time, so I recommend calling ahead to check the wait time and then planning around that (walk ins only!). read more

There is a way to steal from anybody or everybody if you put your mind to it. Sun Tan City's marketing department and or, with management's agreement have found an oh so clever way to scam just a little more from their customers. On Oct.16, 2019 or so, I walked into one to see what their prices were. They were running a special for tanning until 12/31/19. FAST was $49, FASTER was $99 and FASTEST was $149. I bought the FASTER. The next trip in I noticed a sign in the restroom that said lotions priced $49 or more were 25% off and with that lotion purchase an option for Members to add on $50 in Member Upgrades for only $15. I went back to the counter and bought some of the absurdly priced lotion and paid the $15 for the upgrade. Now call me stupid but it certainly would seem I would be upgrading to the $50 higher priced FASTEST beds. I mentioned to the girl ( turns out manager) that getting the best for $15 more was a no brainer. She was all smiles. Gave me the lotion I had chosen, took my money... smiles. I use one of the best beds that day but the following 3-4 trips in I did the stand-ups. So I go in 2 nights ago and the girl mentions I have the FASTER membership... Huh? ? ? I say, No, I have a FASTEST Membership. She says No, you have a FASTER. I say I bought the special on the lotion and paid the $15 for the upgrade. She starts talking like a robot and says the upgrade is good for 5 times in a FASTEST bed. Epiphany: I've used up 1 (20%) of my stick it to me lotion price and $15 extra and didn't even know it. I believe a logical assumption was that I would get that $50 " Member upgrade" and be bumped from FASTER to FASTEST. That is the EXACT price difference between the 2 levels. I go to the restroom and reread the sign... no doubt, the language used implies that and the day I bought it the "manager" said nothing about the scam I was buying into. The disclaimer, in tiny little print on the poster says: " 101319 Restrictions may apply. See salon for details. Okee Dokee, I made the transaction at a salon and didn't receive a bit of the down low on the scam. Knowing it was going to be good for only 5 laydowns on the hotrod beds, I would have said nope and not bought the lotion there either. Similar is less than half the price any where else. So, I question the little robot girl and she continues to repeat the script, as if I forgot what she had already just said twice or as if one more time would get through to my brain as some king of logical rationale. Anyways... good job, robots can and will do her job in no time. What I didn't realize that robot voice was like how a first grader talks just before the snot bubbles start showing up. Many times I apologized and told her my disdain was not directed at her, it was for the thief/s that thought up this scam. Whatever... I go on and use up another 20% of my "Member Upgrade" in a premium bed. I leave the building and get on my motorcycle. A police car pulls up right behind me. The little girl at the sun tan store apparently had a snowflake meltdown from a customer complaint and had called 911. Nice. I have to wonder what she was doing up so late when Miss Crabapple's 1st grade class starts at 8:00 AM. In any case I explain to the police how getting screwed tends to make me less than joyful. At 59 I've been exploited plenty. I didn't realize a sun tan joint would exercise such clever deception to unethically fleece me for 65 or so bucks. (Crappy lotion by the way... my skin is drier after I use it.) Now I know, OH YES THEY WOULD. There came a time when Jesus flipped over the money changer's table. The manager showed up and offered a refund of all my money. That isn't the point. I want to tan. I don't want to be ripped off. I don't want them to think it's cool to rip off their naive clientele with further double talk, ambiguous factoid methodology like they just pulled on me. I wasn't born yesterday and have a pretty good grasp on English, retail and the correct way to be honest with your messaging. My conclusion: This is a dedicated plan to deceive, at least. their young female customers that are probably spending Mommy's spoiler cash. Who would think that a tanning membership would be so complicated? I know why it comes as such a shock to them... I'm the first one to call them out for being con-artists. The others that were scammed were either told the details and went with it anyways or are slow witted/ complacent enough to just go with Sun Tan City's thieving gibberish and went about their zombie day. Not me... The way a person or business does one thing is the way they do everything. My advice; Go somewhere else. Go to an independent, local small business tanning spa. The nationwide corporate creeps from Sun Tan City are likely cooking up a way to double talk/ screw you out of your money right now. read more

Do not sign a contract. Big deception small print they are admittedly fully aware of but refuse to point it out at time of initial set up. Not verbally conveyed at first in small print: when sign contract, can't cancel after first month. It's an automatic 2 month lock in which is stated in small print. But verbally they sell it as cancel anytime. Yes it in print and signed; but if your employees admit it's a common issue that frustrates customers... point it out at the beginning. If you know of an issue but refuse to solve or highlight that misconception, that's intentional deception involving a loss of customers trust and business. Hope this serves as a buyers beware for future customers. To add to it, staff admits it and acts immune from daily occurrence. A few months ago, a great Groupon deal came up and I snagged it-- I'm not into the normal suntanning (skin cancer runs in the family), but I was intrigued by the spray tanning scenario. Normally a spray tan in their "Versaspa" runs around $40 a pop-- the deal cut that in half and my usually ghostly pallor persuaded me to try it out. Since I was meeting up with my entire family and friends for the holiday week and the deal ran out mid-December, I thought the Monday before Thanksgiving would be the perfect time to cash in (that way if I turned totally orange, I could pursue major exfoliation reversal!) The girls are pleasant, but a little slow on the uptake. They are definitely into the upsell, so beware-- there's a prepping gel and after-spray lotion they'll try to get you to purchase and those run around $7 for the smallest size. They led me down the hall to the private room where the Versaspa lives-- very sci-fi. Tannining salons are not my usual haunts, but I found it to be futuristic and clean. The machine itself is a giant open cylinder and the cycle is prompted by a robotic voice, George Jetson style. You have different positions to maneuver into and go through four rounds of spray and two blowdries. Besides feeling like I was in a human carwash, the experience was pretty quick and harmless. The color began to develop in a few hours and I woke up the next morning with a subtle glow. I chose the lowest shade available since my skin is already so pale and was happy with the results-- the color was even and not drastic. Perfect for that "You look great-- did you lose weight?!!" kind of compliment. Best part, the color lasted about a week and is just now fading-- no darker splotches left behind. Highly recommend to try before a special event, but it costs so much without the discount, I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon. read more

I signed up online thinking it would be an easy process to go in and tan. The first time I went into the location I didn't find the staff to be that nice. They were short and a little snippy. Seeing as I said I signed up online and that I had never been to the location, I assumed she would explain the process, or offer the discounts on the lotions I was told I would get. None of this occurred. I decided that I didn't really like this place overall, so I would cancel. Fast forward to today. I reached out to an online representative yesterday and they told me it would be no issue to cancel. Just go into the store and tell them so. When I went in I told them I wanted to tan but to also cancel my membership. She had an attitude yet again, and called customer service because she couldn't process it. It's been a huge fiasco to get out of this membership, and the customer service is some of the worst I've encountered. read more

Always enjoy getting spray tans here. With the proper care, mine lasts up to a week sometimes even more. The only negative complaint I have is the short, blonde assistant manager (assuming that's her title). She always is in a terrible mood, wearing the look of judgement as every person walks in the door. WHY WORK THERE if you continually are miserable and rude to customers? Not just me, but have witnessed this attitude towards other customers as well. If you don't buy the product she is up selling, she gives an eye roll with a sarcastic "ooookaaaay". I have been tanning at this location since 2010. I mainly spray tan because of my fair skin. I am very disappointed to read the comments regarding the assistant manager (her name is kaitlyn by the way). She is probably one of the hardest workers I have ever encountered in the salon. She is constantly moving at a face pace to ensure beds are clean, laundry is done in a timely fashion to keep things moving so that WE don't have to wait. I am not sure if I have purchase a primer since she has been there and she has never once said anything negative to me. Just the other week I was there and they had a long wait making them stay past closing. The booth didn't complete the hydration portion of my spray. After I got out and mentioned it she offered to back and fix it to spray me once more with only the hydration pass. She did this after closing with a smile on her face. I knew she was tired because I watched the whole crowd that was there before me. As a nurse consumer satisfaction is key and she went above and beyond for me. I am sorry that the other customers perceived something different. Hopefully they will give her another chance or next time instead of posting such a targeted negative review email the company website or call and speak with the director of the store. Having worked in over six different tanning salons throughout college i know a good place when i see one....and this is not one. Staff is rude and pretentious, over the top selling tactics (coming from a sales rep by trade) && unaccommodating. Aside from my numerous awful experiences, the bulbs don't even give great color!! In addition to the beds, The sunless tan left me roughly 1 shade darker. Save your money and time and head somewhere else to tan. Def hit up Sun Tan City on Creedmoor if you enjoy getting mediocre tanning results, being treated like the help and want to be at the mercy of 18 year old bimbos' mood swings. read more

I've been tanning here at least a couple times a week since October and before the salon relocated and everyone has always been friendly, pleasant and accommodating. Kaitlyn and Zach have been especially nice, and Kaitlyn has gone out of her way being diligent of letting me know of specials and offers that will help my bottom line. They are always zipping around cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining the tanning devices, and its apparent when you step into a room. Yes it's quite busy with a wait sometimes, but that's inherent with this type of business, and also dependent on certain days, times and seasons. They're not pushy with sales attempts, just informative which is perfect as I can't stand being pitched to. The beds do a good job and I've used them all, but I will mention that it will be a positive thing when the second instant bed is up and operating. I would also like to add that the staff should be allowed to wear tasteful tank tops and shorts during the really warm seasons, perhaps with your logo! It would compliment the overall theme anyhow, and overheating employees is never a good, happy or productive thing. So a win win. read more

I've been getting tans from here for a year by now. I love the gorgeous tan glow I get afterwards. I would seriously come back every week if I wasn't trying to avoid the blonde girl who works at the front desk with the most unpleasant attitude. My sister says that woman's presence makes her fear coming there. I agree with her. I give this place three stars because the tans are absolutely amazing. But if I could give that one blonde girl they hired 0 stars, I would. How she treats her customers is so unacceptable. Her awful attitude, the eye rolling, I'm so sick of it. This place is clean and they have good equipment. I take away stars because the wait is always sooo long. I've been waiting there and overhear people coming in with groupings which is also annoying. Staff attitude/customer service disappointing. They don't care how you feel about anything. You're nothing but money walking in the door. I found out after I my exchange of product was already processed that the salon will not honor the 20% off product (because you exchanged product). Both items were 20% off this month. I feel as though I've been ripped off $24.00 and treated terribly for not liking what they originally recommended. Then to top it off, that same visit, I left my goggles there. They called me to let me know. I told them I'd be back to pick them up when I came back to tan at that location. 4 days later, my goggles were no where to be found. I was told, sorry, the girl that called you is new. They gave me a new set, but not before they could see how bewildered I was with the entire experience between the product exchange, attitude and now disappeared goggles.
