That review is probably gone because they are no longer TOCA its now Toca at Banner Health. This is for communication. I went there to have my achilles checked. They recommended an ankle support to wear to sleep. They told me "you can get one on Amazon for $30 or I can give you one today." So I said, "if you're going to give me one, Ill take it." So they gave me one. When I checked out, I said "how much do I owe?" They said "ok, you're fine, you dont owe anything." Then about 6 weeks later I get a bill for $353 (see photo). I call in to tell them what happened and they said it got billed to insurance and the insurance paid $180 and I owe $353. I called Banner to try to get the self pay cost and they "researched" it and decided that since it was already billed to insurance nothing could be done. So in other words, what costs $30 on Amazon got billed to insurance for approximately $533. Why on earth would I agree to pay that if I could have gotten it on Amazon for $30? The answer is I wouldnt because Im not an idiot. Someone in that office has the responsibility to tell me there is going to be a charge, not just say "you're fine," and then send a bill 6 weeks later. The take home message here is be careful of anything you get or are "given" in a doctors office.

This is for their Goodyear Location at: 1325 N Litchfield Rd. Goodyear, AZ 85395…read more The female Office Manager is very toxic and the most of the team here follows the example she leads. I was treated very rudely, which I asked her why she is being so mean. Her response was "I am the office manager did you say I am mean?" This was my 2nd visit here and the 1st visit speaking with the administrative staff at the front desk on my 1st appt was in the same manner. After this, I noticed all the signs they have that plaster the glass windows at the check in counter. One of which states that they will not tolerate disrespect, in so many words. . hmm. . In all the decades I've went to medical facilities I've never encountered such a sign. It's obvious the office manager and her staff want to be the ones to dish it out, but when you call them out on it they are not happy. Afterwhich and as I was in the room, room #10 (I believe), right across from the staff desk, I heard the office manager sharing my comment and she than returned a negative comment on what she should do, then as she was walking back into my appt. room her office staff start chanting, "do it, do it, do it" and when the door open they all shut up. Not sure I should have expected anything better from administrative staff, someday in their administrative career they will learn the consequences of their actions. I did record their actions on my phone and will be reporting this to the medical director AZ Pain. This woman should not be an office manager leading a team in her toxicity. I did report this to Dr. Dallas Smith, but the chanting part was after my appt with him and when she came back in the room. I would find it hard to believe that he did not hear the chanting, which makes me question his ethics as well. Reporting him would be the medical board, but administrative staff would be the director. On a side note and with regards to my appt. Dr. Smith advised having an MRI done prior to considering method of treatment, however, when I returned they were resistant on going over my MRI or even telling me if they had the results. They wanted to give an injection only, I asked don't we need to go over my MRI before deciding the method of treatment and that's when the office manager got RUDE. She said "we are already running behind because you were late." I advised I was not late, I arrived at 755Am for my 8AM appt with completed paperwork in hand, went to the restroom and checked in at 759AM. She said well we have to run your paperwork and that's when I asked "why are you being mean?" On a side note my paperwork was complete and it took them all of 10 seconds to scan my paperwork at the front desk and I had a seat. Learn some manners! You are in a medical profession and not everyone is going to be as kind and silent as I was after your little rant.

I was under the knife, in the recovery room, and on my way home from surgery in 2 hours. J had called Lucero's office 2 hours after we had gotten home because I had noticed blood coming from the top of my dressing. Lucero told him that drainage was to be expected, and that it could be light pink in color. This is even though J mentioned that what we were seeing was red red...not light pink and that the whole dressing felt completely wet against my skin. Yes, I was drugged...but I knew something didn't feel right with the bandages. Lucero told J to have me come into the office the next day to have the dressing changed. He's the doctor, so we thought that we were worrying over nothing. Hours later, in the middle of the night, J ended up having to rush me to the ER for an arterial bleed. Finding me pale as a ghost, with blood all over the living room floor I imagine was not what J was expecting discover when I called out his name early that morning. According to the doctor at Good Sam, a branch artery was weakened/nicked during surgery. This was a simple "routine surgery" that was not so routine. More like rushed. To top it all off, I'm still experiencing pain and swelling...even with going to PT. After the baby is born, I'll be going back to see an Orthopaedic surgeon. Will it be Lucero? F- NO!

After the fourth visit with a 30-45 minute wait (I see from other reviews that many of you have had worse experiences! My condolences!) I calmly but firmly told the good doctor that a simple apology would be appreciated in this situation. He had none of it, brushed me off and quickly showed me out of the exam room. Why three stars and not one? It's because he did a hell of a good job fixing my frozen shoulder. So five stars for the care, one star for the arrogance and indifference to patient courtesy. PS: His medical assistant was extremely courteous and and apologetic so kudos to her!

Ok, here goes: My…read moresurgeon, Dr. Kakarla, is amazing. Very competent and has helped me (I'm declining to say what surgeries I've had) tremendously. I cannot speak highly enough about him. However, (and this is a very big deal to me) I want others to know before agreeing to surgery about Barrow's philosophy on pain control. I have had two surgeries with Dr. K. within less than a year. The second one is known to be one of the most painful surgeries one can have, which indeed it was. Yet, I was given a prescription for only a minimum amount of pain meds when discharged from St. Joseph's. Not even close to enough. Here's the issue that I want to caution others about. Barrow *WILL NOT* refill pain medication. In excrutiating pain a week out from surgery, I had to reach out to my primary care doc's office, speak with very kind people (Honor Health) do a virtual appointment with my pcp, speak with another very kind nurse and have my spouse go get the meds from the pharmacy. My pcp was stunned that I was sent home with such a limited supply of pain meds and that they *WILL NOT* refill medication. Had I not had a primary care doc at all or one that did not understand this was an absolutely legitimate request, according to Barrow, I would have had to go to a local ER, pay a $500 copay (in my case) just to walk in the door, then get whatever additional bill for seeing a physician all to get a $10 prescription. Upon calling Barrow to ask about the severe pain I was in, Dr K's resident told me the pain I was experiencing (an 8 on the pain rating scale) was expected and that I could need narcotic pain medication for 3 to 4 weeks. Lack of post-surgical pain support is a deal breaker situation for me and I want to make sure others are aware of this before signing that consent for surgery form.

These vitamin IVs are worth their weight in gold! Dr. Gupta is my fabulous pain doctor who hooks me up (because I have free state insurance) with a Vitamin IV every month, tried ketamine infusions for free (not for me), heard about lidocaine infusions (which I can try), chiropractors to put my sciatica back, figured out that I needed a lower lumbar epidural AND doesn't freaking sedate me while he does it! Knock it out with a little injectable lidocaine and let me get on my day, thank you. No twilight nonsense. Hell, he even put up with my ass running late today and was still nice about it.
