Like what's the point of staying at a beach hotel if there is no pool in the nice sun. Stained bed sheets looking like they haven't been washed. Mouse poop. Just overall don't recommend, but if you're running from the police or something maybe will work. Just needs a good clean and a new set of everything. Absolutely awful. The beds are hard, the pillows are little to be desired (I woke up everyday with a headache) and the blankets are paper thin. My daughter saw a roach in the bathroom. There is no arcade, pool games and the poolside cafe was not open. Pictures are very deceiving. It needs updating very bad. I left early, which I never did. read more

I have been displaced from my house since last October because of hurricane Milton wrecking it and this is the place where I have been staying since then. The owners and management here have been so kind, I wouldn't have survived without them . Not only them but the very friendly and helpful staff go above and beyond! It's a resort type with two swimming pools, one inside and heated! There's also a large jacuzzi, plenty of deck chairs and lounges set up, a cool tiki bar during the season and it's just a fun place all year round! You can't beat the view, it's directly ocean front with plenty of beach to enjoy. And I have not met a single guest who isn't friendly and loving it here. But none more than me! It has been like a gift from God to be here and sit on the balcony watching the Atlantic and being reminded that there is still good in this world. My heart felt thanks to all who have made my stay so welcoming. God's blessings on you all! I suppose I should say that it has a full kitchen and bathrooms with a tub and shower. Big beds and big fluffy pillows. The housekeeping staff will check on what you might need every day and restock the amenities, change the beds and bring you as many fresh towels as you want. Our visit was June 2025. Many prior wonderful visits so that was our expectation. Everything had gone downhill. When we checked in, the desk staff was smoking a cigarette and talking to her boyfriend on the phone, telling him that she was going to be quitting her job there. Several rooms on multiple floors were boarded up and not in use. Our room very dirty, bathroom floor grout very dark from either mold or dirt, ceiling fan very dusty and hadn't been cleaned for quite some time, dirtiest phone I've ever seen, carpet smelly. Our friends in room next door found old pizza in their oven. Jets in hot tub not working and the "Viking Cafe'" snack bar was close the entire week that we were there. Wifi went down for hours one day and desk staff acted like we were making it up, problems with Wi-Fi can happen but it was their attitude about it that made it really unpleasant. Wifi was hit or miss during our entire stay. As you walk through the inside pool area, you go through a door to an adjacent covered patio outside. We were sitting at a table near that door when the door suddenly blew open and hit my friend from behind. When we checked, we could see that the hydraulic door closer was completely rusted off. Unbelievable. This place had all kinds of deferred maintenance and it used to have a really cool slide on the outside pool but it has been gone quite some time and apparently not coming back despite staff telling some customers otherwise The only person who acted like he cared was the one I spoke with at checkout, he refunded me for 2 nights and asked that we give them a chance to turn things around, he said they were working on it. I think he was the manager and he was very nice. On the plus side, the AC worked great and the landscaping and grounds were beautiful. I sincerely hope that they can get things turned around because this used to be a wonderful place to stay! read more

We stayed three days and took five rooms. When paying the bill all of us were charged different amounts for similar rooms. The place is a shambles and is very dirty. We had to move out of one room because of the smell of mold was so strong. The ice machines were both out of service and we had to go out for our own ice. We have stayed there eight or nine years previously. This will be our last stay at Sun Viking. When we complained, we were told to remind them next year, and they would try to do something for us. Cost us over $1100 for three nights. Apparently they don't value our previous patronage. read more

I was pretty impressed. A fun, family-oriented, beach motel with a charming and unique Viking theme. A number of the Daytona Beach motels have Polynesian or other tropical themes this was a bit of a twist. But it works it's a fun place they have an indoor pool and hot tub beach access plus an outdoor pool and a convenient location. I don't know if my first floor room was representative of most of the bedrooms it was quite small but had a huge king-size bed, maybe even a California king, and the bathroom was tiny, but had been remodeled not too long ago and the remodel job was superb. As my photos here attest, the bed area itself was furnished in a tropical motif that was perfect for the environment I really liked their color choices and despite its small size room is quite functional and very clean. I have to say in all honesty the beach access area and yard area at the Aku Tiki Inn which I have stayed at also I liked better because it was larger and just a little bit nicer but certainly the beachfront and the small grassy lawn here would suffice. Certainly recommend this Motel to families asbthe price was reasonable and I think they also have organized activities for kids during the day. read more

We love this place! We have stayed every July for the past 5-6 years. Met families that, like us, keep coming back every year. Friendly, family atmosphere with games like bingo and outdoor movies for the kids, wonderful beach. KEEP IN MIND this place is NOT for everyone. Family-friendly means there will be kids going down the water slide, jumping in the pool. And some of the rooms are in the motel half with doors facing the parking lot, basketball court, and pool which means there is a potential for noise. Our friend booked this hotel for Biketober fest for us. The place had no hot water and when I called they said let it run the water comes from the 8th floor. Also we got up in the am to find a roach camping out on our charger. The room was around $300 they refunded $50 d/t the roach situation. It should've been free. This room was extremely overpriced. Went here for Daytona 500 and stayed the weekend. Lots of rain changed the experience. Room was clean and simple. Had a couple minor issues with remote not working/programming-easy fix. And the rollaway being something from the 1970's? All said, it worked out. The best was that my senior mother forgot her phone in the room somehow. We didn't figure it out until we were halfway across the state already. Called in the staff and they went and found it quickly. Kept it safe and were able to ship it back to her within a couple days! Great service. Office staff were always friendly and courteous. Family owned hotel with some activities planned for kids/families and nice wide steps for beach access. Outdoor pool is being redone, but indoor one was fine. Priced up for the race i am sure, but not crazy. Make sure you stay in tower if need elevator or first floor otherwise for handicap access. read more

What are you going to do, hold the owners wife accountable? That's laughable. She at the helm answering the phones in her meltdown mode and her husband over the last 3 years " under new management" lol, are driving this place into the dirt and so long as she is the owners wife, ain't nothing your going to do other than word service through your response to bad reviews. If you truly work for them, here's some advice, get out quick like everyone and I mean EVERYONE else has. Larry, Rick, Stephen, Justin, just to name a few. Get out now before they take you with them. I had a pre paid booking for $1200 dollars for next week July 8 thru the 15th. Upon review of recent google reviews I was a little concerned because the mention of roach infestations and cleanliness or lack thereof about the pools. This was a recorded conversation so if you have any doubts, notify me and I will provide you a copy of the conversation. I called the hotel at 9:28 this morning and asked to please speak with the manager, the female that took the call said she could help me, but again I asked for the manager and she responded she could help me so I simply asked about the reviews as of late overwhelmingly mention roach infestations and her "Immediate response" was we can cancel your reservation if you like! I never asked for that and never eluded to that I simply tried to ask for their plan to address the pool and roach problems but she was done at that point, level 10 craziness. I then mention that I saw this coming years ago when the hotel was bought out by Ty Lohman at which she responded that Ty is her husband. She then said she'd cancel my reservations and then immediately hung up. I tried calling back 3 more times and was simply hung up on. The 4th attempt Ty Loughmans wife took the call and I advised I needed an email indicating that she cancelled my reservation and to refund my $1,200 and she said, "We're working on it buddy!" She chuckled and hung up the phone again. As a reminder, this all was recorded too so if any doubt, let me know, I'll be glad to provide the recorded conversation. In closing, this new owner has driven the location into the dirt and his wife appears to be on the verge of some sort of breakdown. Wow, just wow, how discouraging this is but, life is good and I am blessed, thank you to the previous owners, The Brown Family for giving my family and I so many years of great memories. The staff deserves 5 stars but the new owners earn zero so far. We are not impressed. Head up families, new bosses in town and they intend to change things. Grills are going away by July 2022. They want to put in a bar in. Not a great idea when lots of kids are hanging around on deck. This is supposed to be a FAMILY/ FRIENDLY place, not the ritz. If we wanted a fancy hotel, hot tub, etc. we'd be somewhere else. Not here. We like it being down to earth and being able to let the kids have fun and parents relaxing by the poolside. I have been coming here for 32 years. Sadly, this place is a shell of its former self. This will be the last year I come here. If you have never been here and look at their website, they seem to have tons to offer. However, when I got there, I quickly found out that the slide and outdoor pool were broken. The jacuzzi was broken. The cafe and the full calendar of family activities are now only on weekends. The ice machine on the ground floor was broken. None of these things are disclosed on the website. This place no longer offers anything more than any other hotel on this beach, yet you are still paying as if you were. Sadly, folks, I would no longer recommend this place to anyone. I stayed here with my boyfriend for my graduation for two nights . The location is perfect, right down the street from the ocean center. Our room was clean but it definitely had a distinct smell when you walked in. I opened the closet to hang my gown and it smelled very musty, I had to hang it from a mirror so I wouldn't smell. There was also a sticky candy like liquid splattered all over the sink area I guess they over looked that when cleaning. Other then that the room was fine. Great air conditioning. Loved both pools and the hot tub was amazing. The staff was super chill and polite. I wouldn't recommend staying on the first floor but other then that I'd come back. read more

A friend recommended this resort to me, saying it is her favorite beach hotel so I decided to give it a try. My husband and I wanted a weekend getaway and I have to say, even though this is a family resort, we still had a very relaxing stay. They take the family thing seriously here, offering many well planned activities for the kids, a waterslide, two pools, outdoor kids movies at night that are projected on the side of the pool building, a very affordable cafe that offers breakfast, burgers, chicken tenders, etc... Our room was clean and well maintained. It had a kitchenette with everything you could need to make your own meals, including a full sized refrigerator with a working ice maker. That was super helpful for making icy cold drinks in our yeti tumblers! The beds were clean and comfortable and the hotel was dead quiet by 10:30 pm. The staff are everywhere, cleaning, maintaining and helping guests on the property. I didn't encounter one unfriendly staff member there. I highly recommend this resort for families and even couples who don't mind hearing little kids having fun. It was clean, updated, comfortable, safe and affordable. I'll be back for sure! read more

Our second stay here, and more than likely our last. Its a nice set up. But roaches in our room kind of grossed me out. We went to do our laundry, no ATM had to leave the premises to get money. And there was so much chlorine in the pools and the hot tub, my husband age 64 got a chemical burn in his lungs. Several ppl complained because kids were getting rashes, and actually bleached lady's swimsuit out and she had to go but another one. So.... there are too many good places to stay. read more

The property is beautiful with two pools one includes a large water slide it also has a hot tub and work out facility equipped with a sauna. Viking Lodge is the Hotel on Daytona Beach. It is perfect for families with children or even if you're single. This is our third time staying here at the hotel. It is located right on the beach and we had the 8th floor balcony overlooking the water. It is so convenient as we had a full kitchen with dishes and even soap. It is a great to bring groceries and have stayed clean and refrigerated. They even thought about pots and pans as well as cookie sheets in the oven. The rooms are extremely large and beautiful and clean. Very tropical and beachy. Calming colors with two large beds. There is even a kitchen table and a dining area. There is a large balcony that you can look over the ocean. Is very quiet and relaxing. There are so many activities for children they have posted in the elevators the different events going on around the hotel. It is perfect and ideal if you're looking for something to do with the kids or even yourself. We were so excited it was an 11 a.m. bingo. There are two pools one that is indoors and one that is outdoors with a slide. The kids absolutely loved it. One of the great things about this place is that you can get a boogie board for the ocean or even goggles. You do not have to pay extra for these things. Also I should mention they give U bracelets that open up the doors to your room and shows that you're here on the resort. One of the other great things about this hotel is that have a little game room for the kids. It is free and it is Xbox's. This is great for in the evenings when the kids are looking for something to do. To the side of the hotel on the same Resort you will find a great playground. They even have a little cafe on site. I visited the in-laws here a few times and it is really just a motel with excellent access to the beach. The rooms are stereotypical motel with the balcony overlooking the parking lot but this place was set up great for kids and the family. They have a basketball hoop and corn hole on site as well as an indoor and outdoor pool with a slide, hot tub and access to the ocean. The beach behind the property is actually more beautiful than some of the beaches I've seen in the Caribbean. It was breathtaking...and you could drive on it, which I have mixed feelings about. The kids never got out of the pools and when they did they got in the ocean. The property supplies gas grills for guests to cook out if they wanted. For a large group like the in-laws this was a good deal. Definitely budget friendly and easy going. No added stress here, no attempt to be something it's not, just plain ol' fun. We have 2 cars and was told we could park both cars there and not in overflow. They called me a few minutes ago and said you need to move your car.
