I needed to dig a hole in my backyard. A small one, only eight feet square and about three inches deep. So there I was with a shovel and a hoe and a wheelbarrow, hacking away at the grass. After two hours, I'd managed to clear a two foot by two foot square section. My hands hurt, my back hurt, and I knew that I'd have a decent sunburn by nightfall. What the heck was I thinking? So I headed out to the Internet to see if I might find a power tool that would do the hard work for me. And I landed on a rototiller and shortly afterwards on Sunbelt. I arrived early, they wrote up the invoice and sent me out front to have the shop guy load the thing into my car. When I returned a few hours later (good hole dug, less sore muscles), they gave me a credit back for the unused time, inspected the tiller and I was back on my way. A positive experience and if I ever need to use a power tool again, Sunbelt will be at the top of my list. Tips: - You can book in advance, but I don't know if that's really required. - Be sure your vehicle can hold the doodad you're renting. The managers Eric and Scot at this facility are the most dishonest people at Sunbelt Rentals. They will not answer your calls or emails. I rented a Bobcat skidsteer and had an issue with it. I called out a Sunbelt service tech because a pin came out of the lifting arm and bent the the area where the pin connected to the cylinder. The tech used MY torch to try to straighten the metal that was bent and couldn't do it. The asshat managers at this facility accused me of using a torch on the Bobcat. They not only charged me replace the lifting arm on the skidsteer they also charged me for the grappler bucket that was not damaged $23,500.00. read more

Simply put, horrible experience. For my job, I host events around the city. For one of our largest events of the year we book Silver Hammer Studios over at the NC Music Factory. For this event we needed to rent spider boxes and a scissor lift. Sunbelt was mentioned as a vendor who was familiar with the venue and capable of providing what we need. I originally spoke with Ken who was quite friendly and since it's not my industry, he helped explained what all I needed. I touched base with him closer to the event to wrap up exactly what all we needed to ensure we didn't over book. When I called him, he explained he was still with the company but moving to another division/store but could still help - he was quite friendly until it came down to payment. I never argued the costs but he needed payment prior to the event, which typically takes our company 30 days to get payment. I told him I needed a W9 in order to process. Send it my way, I'll get you payment. After 3 requests never received the W9 from him so I'm still left not being able to get him paid. I receive a call from another employee as he kicked me over to someone else. I then had to re-explain to the employee what all I needed - again, super helpful til it came down to the payment. At this point not much time before the event and mentioned hey it's going to be hard to get payment prior. He argued with me that this was their policy - alright, understandable as a company and I will push to have the check upon delivery but still need that W9 in order to do so. I receive an email the next morning from the new employee I spoke with - 48 hours before the event - stating they cannot deliver without payment (which I already knew). I requested for the FIFTH TIME a W9 so I can get the check processed and will have it overnighted. I never heard from the company again - not one word and no W9 was sent. That same day I called another company and booked them with no issues. And of course Sunbelt never showed up. Completely unprofessional to leave my event in the balance when payment was simply waiting on a document from your own company - a one page form that all businesses have on file. Not sure what was so hard about forwarding me over a document but they lost my business and we will never be calling them again to rent equipment for an event or any needs we may have. read more

Useless manager. The customer service rep wouldn't give me a deal after working with them for years so i call the manager. He wasn't even in the store and the place was slammed. I asked where the manager was in the store and the guy said that's not his problem where his manager is. The manager never called me back so i call 3 more times on 3 different days and he is never there!!!! I have called at all times of the day and still, never there. The two younger guys and some old guy on the counter are like robots just getting people out the door. None of them were that nice and very heres your price now leave the store. It has been a month and the manager still has not called to resolve it and still never there when i call him! How can he run a store and never be there?????? read more
