The back side of the Sunburst Inn, right on the beach...

We saw the episode were the hotel got a complete makeover on 100 day dream home show in HGTV hosted by Brian and Mika, and we said that we have to see it for ourselves. The place is actually more charming than what you see in the show. Jason the host made you feel really welcome when you check in and immediately you step into paradise. Thank you Jason, Andi, Madison, and your staff, for making our wedding anniversary so memorable. Are we coming back? Yes we are!!!! ...

    The view :(

RUN from this nightmare place. It gets a star bc the location is on the beach ... The place is dirty, in dire need of repair .. The room door top lock latch does not work,, The in wall ac does not work,, so 2 of the 3 windows have window ac blocking view & use of the window. The only other window, did not stay open ,, and was dangerously heavy when tried to open for air,, as there's no spring to safely keep it open. More like a Guillotine . And there's no screen in the window even if it could stay open. Upon arriving the whole back deck was filled with dirt & tree debree ((and stayed that way for the whole stay.. There was a dirty filled ash tray at our room door on the table. At over $200 per night ,,, this place was a horrible experience. Asked front desk for help for a better cleaner more functional room, and they said no fixing is being done to this place at all,, and they even said not even the rooms window screen sitting in front of window((which I didn't even see until they pointed it out)) They said the place is going to be closed soon for renovation on a hgtv show,, But that no excuse for the actual dirt in the rooms window sills, kitchen , etc.. It felt unsafe not being able to lock the rooms door,, other than the door knob. This was supposed to be a romantic getaway,, where I got purposed to.. Turned out to be the worst motel experience I've ever had, in over 15 years of traveling. No one cares about the cleanliness or customers of this place. I would not ever try their again,, even after the supposed renovations.

    Spectacular breathtaking sunset.

In the mist of modern beach properties is a this great place tucked away. Our room was cozy filled with a relaxed beach vibe. A perfect studio to recharge the mind and soul. Foots away is s private sandy beach with amazing view, sounds of waves meeting the shoreline, seagulls walking on the white sands. Once you park into the property it's Piña Colada o'clock time.

If you are a high-maintenance person who needs your linens changed every day, a mint on your pillow every night, and your hand held through most things in life; then this is not the place for you. However, if you want a laid back vacation without the crowds of Clearwater, literally on the beach, then this is a great and affordable place to be! Coffee maker in the room, decks on the beach with plenty of room for all guests that face the gulf, beach stuff for kids and adults, and no hassle from the staff. We stayed in room 21 for $237/ night with tax and such. Snuggly fit 6 adults (two couples and two others willing to share the pull out bed) but we spent most of our time on the deck and beach. We are already planning our trip back here as we sip our coffee on the deck, as we are checking out in an hour. My husband and I come to the area from the Midwest about every six months. We have stayed in fancy condos on Indian Rocks Beach and Clearwater but this one is one of my favorites! As for the sheltered person who left a negative review, obviously one of the aforementioned people. Most resorts have a strict cancellation policy here. Maybe just stay home.

The ultimate experience for the quiet vacation. This is a local favorite with hidden charm and door to sand delivery. We stayed on the 2nd floor this time but since all the rooms are on the sand it's hard to not have a great room!

Nevertheless, we had a great time here on our own with a spacious condo on the canal and intercoastal waterway in Indian Shores. We walked to the beach everyday to get a power walk for an hour. The temperature was cool in the mornings. We hung by the pool for a little while each day, usually walked to lunch at the many restaurants nearby. One day, we took the free trolley to lunch. This property is conveniently located on Gulf Blvd. The trolley stops are close, and you can head south towards St. Petersburg or north to Clearwater with stops along the way. The condos were completely remodeled recently and the pier out back was also partially rebuilt. You can fish or pull up a boat to the pier. There are grills out there and tables to have a picnic on the water. Grocery stores are not that close....we borrowed a car from my sister for our grocery visit. It was about 3 miles to a Publix in Largo that had everything! We didn't use the workout room or game room, but they have those. They have a few snacks and drinks in the main office. Check-in with Petra was easy. They even gave us our condo early. I even received a call from "G" prior to our trip to find out if we needed anything or had any concerns. It was nice to know that they were expecting us! The kitchen was modestly equipped, but no kitchen shears. They had a toaster, coffee maker and blender, some sharp knives, kitchen utensils, wine glasses, coffee mugs, plates, glasses and silverware. I think if you aren't planning to do major cooking, you will be fine. The freezer has an ice maker, but if you need ice right away, just buy a bag while the machine catches up! The soaps are all supplied. The showers have dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is no lotion, so bring that. The bedrooms both had small decks with two chairs. There was one small table to put in between the chairs. It was great to have coffee out there in the morning. They have laundry baskets in the rooms, but you have to go to the laundry room to do laundry. The soap is free, but the washer and dryer are not. The TV's are huge! We had 3 flat screens, one in main area and one in each bedroom. The furniture in the living room wasn't super comfortable, but was fine. The dining table had 6 chairs. All in all, very home-like and spacious. The people were very nice. The employees always asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. The early check-in was so nice. There is covered parking for all guests. Certified B corporation/recycling We would stay here again and hope to stay here again!!

Will definitely be staying here again! Best value for money in all of the Indian Shores/Indian rocks area. They even have indoor parking! Looking for a unique hotel experience? This place offers complimentary termites!…read more My boyfriend also left a review and I'm laughing out loud as to his reflection on how the events transpired. We woke up to what my boyfriend thought was some kind of mysterious skin condition. Half asleep, he kept brushing little specks off the bed and himself, trying to figure out why his skin was suddenly shedding like a snake. After several minutes of confusion and mild panic layered with hysterical laughter we discovered it wasn't his skin at all--it was termite droppings literally raining down on us from above. Nothing says "vacation relaxation" quite like lying in bed while insects droppings fall from the ceiling. The hotel apparently believes in immersive wildlife experiences, and they definitely delivered. The pool bar service was exceptional however the poolside service was exceptionally bad. The servers were not only elusive but they were bothered and actually argumentative. It should be mentioned that we were ordering buckets of canned beverages and nothing that required an eye roll, fruit adornment or a blender. It couldn't get any easier than our order and watching her crash out when we asked for a chicken quesadilla kind of made our day. Imagine our nerve... The front desk guy handled it like a champ. I'm no Inspector Gadget but his lack of surprise and the sealant all over the ceiling in our room leads me to believe this wasn't the first time Russ heard this. I recommend checking your bed before you unpack your belongings and if you plan on utilizing the servers at the pool I'd suggest you have thick skin as they are not for the weak. On the bright side, we left with memories we'll never forget and a newfound ability to identify termite droppings on sight.
