This is the place! The Molloy has a classic beach house feel while literally being on the beach. You would never guess the amount of damage they recovered from with the last hurricane as the place looks great! Perfect location on Treasure Island, nice pool, hot tub and AMAZING white sand beach. The owners are super nice and down to earth which makes the stay very comfortable. Even the birds are super friendly like domestic pets. You can't expect a more beautiful and chill spot so close to everything around Tampa as well worth it! read more

Long time Treasure Island fans. We decided to try something new (to us). This old vibe place sounded good. The rooms are good sized. Ours was modern with a full kitchen. Other pros are very good beach access and their own private small beach. Unfortunately the clientele that they cater to isn't the crowd I was looking for. Large groups that take over the small footprint of the motel and an obvious catering to locals who swarm the place on weekends and turn it into a Daytona Beach drinking fest. There isn't anyone from the motel visibly monitoring the behavior of the guests and the people they invite to spend the day with them that aren't even staying at the motel. The pool has a posted sign with rules on it that was laughed off by the party crowd. It's a small (12 rooms?) motel so everyone is on top of each around the pool and their beach. Parking is a challenge as well. We won't return. The staff isn't interested in confronting those making others uncomfortable and instead remain out of site in a room behind the front desk. read more

Hadn't stayed here in years and was quite impressed with the renovations. Got a one bedroom gulf front king suite for a three day staycation. What a nice room! Full kitchen so I didn't even have to leave. A big comfy bed with super soft linens. Plenty of space, great views, everything I needed. Check in was super efficient and the reviews are right about the woman at the front desk..what a nice person! Walked me to my room, showed me how to work the digital lock, even came and rescued me at 10:00 at night when dummy me locked myself out. The only downfall is the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors and traffic so be prepared to get up early. Hey, it's the beach..who doesn't want to take an early morning walk on the beach anyway?! read more

Only reason we booked was because of the beach... We were supposed to stay for 2 nights, but we checked out early because we couldn't stay another night due to how dirty and out dated it was. The pictures you see on Google and yelp are ot what you'll get. Those might be the selected few, but our room did not look like the pictures we saw. The shower was so bad we had to wear our flip flops, as the water was pooling. We literally had to straddled the drain. You can feel that the flloors haven't been swept, there was sand on the floor. The counters didn't appear to be wiped down. Visible mold in the bathroom and bedroom. I'm all about saving money and budgeting a beach hotel, but this is not sanitary. 2 stars because the lady up front was nice. However, they didn't even try to "make it right" . read more

This place is perfectly acceptable if you aren't fussy . It was on the beach, the room was small but clean and everything was in working order. Also, important to us, it had a mini fridge. Also a microwave and coffee maker. Behind each of their two buildings were ample and comfortable seating areas. They also had a decent pool. read more

We have stayed here for the last time. Place has turned into beer drinking, cigarette smoking, pot head village. Sad what this couple has to except in order to pay the bills. Great location, great access to the beach but be ready to here, "hold my beer and watch this." The owners used to be friendly! It's obvious they don't enjoy what they had or have any interest in having guest stay at their place that are from farther than 25 miles away. This place is party central. Not a Christian environment and certainly not a place for families with kids. Sure miss the old Molloy! read more

This place in general is an just okay kind of place. Desperately needs some TLC. I chose this place because it was a small place because we are in the middle of Covid and I didn't want to have to many people sharing the space. I got the basic double hotel room. It was ridiculous. Not only was it tucked away upstairs in a back corner but it was about a 3rd of the size of a basic hotel room. It is definitely not fit for two people! It also was not marketed as upstairs. Stairs and I are not good friends. because of covet I brought all of my own bed linens and towels. They asked me to take theirs off the bed myself And put them on the chair outside of my neighbor's door. They would come and pick them up later. They never did. I will bet dimes to dollars that they go back on the bed. Two of the ladies that work there seem to be very nice even though they wore their masks down on their chins. But I would never go back there again! read more

Overall cute quaint and clean!! Beachfront spectacular view! Some residents very noisy until late hours so hard to sleep but could be a very great venue! I would definitely recommend! Just maybe move the tables away from residents windows and more towards the hammocks! Great spot and super friendly staff! read more

This place is so cute! The lady at the desk was so kind ! And thats it. No icemaker, roof workers started on the roof at 8ish am. Relentless banging and loud noises. The gas grill only worked on one side of it. My friends got a room that was advertised as a suite...no couch in the room even...just a real disappointment. read more

The Molloy has become my summer home away from home. My new favorite room is room 1. Softest beds anywhere in the world. Like sleeping on a cloud. The staff is helpful but not overly in your way. This place is like having your own summer cottage. The building is older but has a charming feel to it. We have never had any problems getting the help we need. Brandon from the front desk helped my husband carry all our bags up the stairs. We will always stay here when they have availability. We have tried a few other places on Treasure Island and always switched mid stay to The Molloy. You can walk right out onto the beach. This most recent trip we saw a harbor porpoise right up close. It was amazing. I would live at the Molloy permanently if I could. read more

We loved our stay at the Molloy! It was perfectly vintage Florida. We headed across Florida to the gulf coast for a Rays' game, but also wanted to enjoy a little beach time during our one night stay. This was the perfect spot. The people were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very "vintage" but it is clean and they are renovating the rooms. Ours was not yet renovated but it was neat and tidy with a kitchen, WiFi, and great water pressure! The location is key. The hotel is on a main road in the back, but it sits right on the beach on the other side. There are hammocks for relaxing and the pool was refreshing. If you're looking for a taste of old Florida, I highly recommend! read more

We were very disappointed in many areas. First of all don't be swayed by their pictures. Their cottages have been remodeled but not their daily rooms. Ours was a throwback from the 60's and need of a lot of repairs and for the price $150.00 we feel we were taken advantage of for the room we got. Cute place beautiful beach area, The bbq grills didn't work, the staff would take numerous smoke breaks by our room, noisy dryers on constantly. So there was good and bad I would stay again but I would request no smoking by my room the staff can go smoke in the front of the building. read more

Recently left this hotel and can not say enough good things! We were contacted prior to our arrival and informed that there was an issue with the room. They were very apologetic and went above and beyond to make our stay a great one, regardless of the issue at hand. (It was a small leaking roof, which did not affect a thing about the room, except placement of bed). The hotel does not look like much from the outside, but the inside of the room was tastefully decorated and updated. All appliances were included, as well as cookware. They are beachfront, and you can walk outside your door and take a short path to the beach, which is beautiful, as well! Pool was clean, linen was clean and fresh...would not hesitate in recommending! Can't wait to book another stay with them! read more

I tried to stay here with my daughters (3 and 4) because it is advertised as a family friendly motel. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude when we checked in and we never got the beach towels they promised. Normally this wouldn't be an issue with us because we're pretty easy going but, even after I called the after hours line twice, they allowed a loud and raucous party at the pool and outside our room to continue into the night. There are several conflicting times listed as to what time the pool closes but the latest is 10 pm. I am sitting here, awake, with my kids, at 10:30, with the party still going. There is nobody here to enforce a quiet time and if you call the after hours line, like I did, they sound exasperated. Why even own a hotel if you treat guests like inconveniences ? Do not stay here if you have kids or like to sleep. read more

What a hidden gem! Found this little motel online and I'm pleased I did. Upon arriving and checking in we were led to our room (nice touch) which was up our own set of stairs and very private. We could see the gulf from our windows (we didn't even pay for gulf view!) and our room was perfect for an overnight trip stocked with a fridge and microwave! Being gulf front it was a quick and easy walk to the water. Some chairs from the pool had already been pulled out there that we could sun bathe on. Overall, friendly staff, very quiet and peaceful, the hammocks are AMAZING, and the pool was large and the PERFECT temperature. Most importantly, as my best friend and I are young females in our mid twenties we felt safe in your property, that's one of the most important things. Well done Molloys, I doubt I'll ever stay anywhere else in the area except your establishment. read more

The Molloy is quaint - my kind of motel, though maybe not everybody's ideal vacation landing spot. Small, seemed family owned. Our room had a kitchen, and living room separate from bathroom, so had a much more homey feel than our other hotel. Our king bed was just 2 twin beds pushed together, but it was a very comfy mattress and pillows. We could see the beach from our room! Would definitely stay there again, but will probably never go back to the area again, Ha! read more

OK where do I start. Just a real disappointing experience, rented 4 rooms for a small family reunion, 2 of which were inhabitable. One had a mountain of human hair both in the shower and on one of the beds cover up by the comforter. Another room has water coming up out of the bathroom floor, yrs through the floor, the managers solution, sop it up with towels when the towels were available. So the Manager/Owner most likely is not going to do much about this establishment otherwise the taxes go up. Oh also, noisy and messy so do yourself a favor spend a little more and be comfortable, safe and worry free as vacations are supposed to be! read more

I wanted to love this place as much as I love other vintage florida motels on the gulf. But, from the moment we arrived it was stressful. We were adding a bonus day to our one week rental of a condo and really wanted to be able to walk in drop our bags and head to the beach or pool. The rooms were still dirty when we arrived, were told it would be closer to 3pm and they were short handed for housekeepers. It was a busy Saturday mid spring break, but with as many people trying to check in, the didnt seem to have a single unit ready before 230pm. 3pm being checkin we decided to leave all of our things in the car and sit on the beach. Not one available parking spot. Told to stay double parked for now. We worried about parking behind someone, but complied. We sat at the beach for an hour, kept checking with desk. At around 345pm they gave us a key and they had chased the people out of the many parking spots that were parked illegally. There were people staying there who.were smoking all over the property, cigarette butts, old deflated pool toys strewn all over the pool area. Limited areas to sit at the pool to supervise children. The room was very clean, beds nice. Lots of room for our family of 5. Electrical and lights very outdated, cabinets and closets very aged and in need of repair. Shower didnt fully turn on, so constant water from tub faucet while shower was on. Chairs, tables, dressers very outdated, worn. Windows did not open properly, or stay open, screens in disrepair and didnt seem to fit. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and visibly upset that they couldn't get assistance from the manager. We were offered a late checkout but as it was had to leave at 6am, so were were offered 20%off for all the chaos an late check in and parking difficulties. No process in place to ensure parking for current renters, no backup to.ensure rooms ready. Lovely location on beach, nice pool. Decent sized rooms with much left to update. In the end, we wished we'd just headed back to Michigan early. Bummer. read more

Arriving to Tampa and looking to spend the night I headed down 275 because it was traffic hour on the other highway road. What's a girl to do when it's spring break and the hotels I'm calling are either sold out or nearly three hundred a night!!? I cruised over to Treasure Island thinking that I would love to wake up on the beach! Saw a few no vacancies but then pulled up to this quaint family owned motel and headed inside quick because I had to swim before it got too late. He ran my credit card a few times for a room of my own for one hundred bucks. It's perfect for me and has a fridge hangers. He was pleased to get me some new towels after I brought mine to the beach. You have to get a password for wifi also works great. Friendly guests and the pool is so warm and such cute shape! Quiet in the evenings also but my favorite part is the trees surrounding the walk to and from the beach. It makes my stay at touristville seem more like a tropical island vacation. There's a publix food mart within walking distance and then I would probably drive to Jimmy Bs for some live music if I were you. The scene in St Pete may be more hip but this is definitely the place to be. read more

Wish I could leave NO STARS. Front desk checked us in for 2 night stay under wrong reservation. The next morning someone knocks on door to tell us we have to pack up and leave because of their mistake. No refund. No other hotels in Treasure Island had vacancy or would book less than 2 nights. If we had known Friday night, we could have booked a 2 night stay at another hotel. Due to the incompetent staff here we ended up driving back home (out of town) Saturday night and our whole weekend was ruined. Also, you get what you pay for... cockroaches, paint peeling, run down appliances, everything falling apart. NOT WORTH IT!!!!! We frequent Treasure Island and will be telling everyone to avoid this place at ALL COSTS. read more
