I've spray tanned before on more than one occasion. My sister in law came here and had a good result so I thought I would try it since they advertise buy one get one for first time visitors! I exfoliated before and didn't have any other lotions or anything on when I went. I Did everything that the girl working told me to and waited the recommended 6-8+ hours and I showered it off and I looked awful. Normally When I shower after a spray tan you can see the excess fall off in the shower. I thought it was weird that no excess came off, but then I got out of the shower and could blatantly see how awful my tan was. I had left town shortly there after for a wedding and called the next morning to let them know that this had happened I emailed pictures and they called back a few hours later and told me I could come in and use my second tan the free one I get to get it fixed or I could get a custom airbrush and pay the difference. I told them I was already out of town and would just take a refund. When I asked a girl on the phone what I should do to try to fix it she told me to exfoliate my skin. She told me that they recommend doing that before a tan which I did because I knew that. I felt as though I was being blamed for this. They said it would take a few days for the refund. Now I'm stuck in a small town trying to find someone who can fix me which I'm sure is gonna cost me a pretty penny. Super unfortunate as I am going to a rehearsal dinner and wedding this weekend. Not very comfortable posting photos of the rest of my body, but my legs look awful! Not even sure how this could happen in a booth. read more

First time customer. For $22 I received a 12 mi ire tan in a level 4 bed and saw good results immediately. A face tanner is included in the level 4 bed, but it can be turned down if wanted. Complimentary freshen up basket was offered with make up wife's, exfoliating cloth, baby wipes and deodorant or a cold washcloth. Check in was rapid and efficient. DO NOT TAN AT SUNCHAIN AHWATUKEE- the hours are amazing but this specific location is awful. Worth driving the extra 10 minutes to another location. 3rd time trying this place and called to freeze my account. The lady told me I had to submit it online or come in. I submitted a request to freeze my account online 22 days before my next charge and nope still got charged and they didn't even look at my request. Next I sent it one to CANCEL mine because of the last of service and being charged after freezing it- I called and they said they "couldn't find it". Such a shame one of the only tanning bed place in Ahwatukee is so bad at costumer service and doing their job. Maybe another shop would be better. read more

Wow! Walking in this salon was a game changer. Prior to walking in, I left a celebrity tanning pissed. And this experience SAVED my day! First off the pricing is very reasonable for a mystic tan and the color is included. Celebrity tanning tried charging almost double for the same service. The girls here are very nice by not very educated on there products they sell. Also on 4 different occasions now I have had a dirty bed and asked them to re clean it... good thing they keep wipes in the room always check your bed.. and always check the top cause they miss that one a lot.... I came here because of the good reviews and that it is relatively close to my home. A few months before I had time to actually tan I came in and spoke with a highly knowledgeable person at the front desk so I felt confident in choosing this location. When I started tanning a few weeks ago I never saw her again. I purchased the expensive level 5 package because I am an older lady and quite pale. I just want a nice color, and am not interested in getting really dark, or having to come in a lot, especially since I have aging skin. I did the level 4 bed the first few times to build up my melanin and then switched to level 5. The other night it was time to do the level 4 bed again and I trusted the front desk person to look at my history and set the right amount of time. But she didn't, she just went by what I told her I did the last time in the level 5 bed which is very different than level 4. I ended up burning. Ultimately it's my fault because I should have been more diligent about keeping track of my progress and not depending on the employees. So I'm writing this just to make people aware to keep track of your tanning yourself if you are very pale, haven't tanned in a long time, and burn easily. read more

I got tired of being pale (just looking at my skin made me feel cold) so I looked up tanning locations near where I work so that I'd be able to go on lunch breaks or before/after work. Sunchain came up as being within a couple minutes away and had a great rating. I stopped in during a break today to find out about pricing and plans and all that good stuff. Chelsie was the girl who helped me and she was awesome. Super friendly, really knowledgeable about everything and explained all the plans and options thoroughly so that I understood what I'd be getting with each package. I was impressed with all the perks that you get with the membership! Easy ways to get free upgrades to VIP beds, discounts on lotions continuously not to mention a $20 credit off lotion when you sign up, ability to have an account tab essentially so that you can bill things rather than paying for them right away. Lots of good stuff. The rooms themselves have these awesome little refresher baskets which are better than any at other tanning salons I've been to. They have the standard fragrances, deodorant and towels but also have these exfoliating wipes that you use before tanning to help cleanse your skin to get a better tan and tanning extender lotion you put on after tanning to help prolong your tan and moisturize your skin. Plus you'll be offered a cold towel if you want, something I'm sure I'll be getting a lot during the summer months. Okay, since my last 1 star review, I was contacted by the manager/owner Cathy, who's a doll and apologized and said that she has spoken with the employee and hopefully used my words as a training opportunity. (I'm not here to get people fired) I WILL probably visit the Tempe location for a while at Baseline and Rural, (owned by the same people) until I get the cranky taste out of my mouth of the last experience. I am still very much a Sunchain advocate and definitely recommend either location, but I'm just being a pain-in-the-butt and letting the last experience put me off. I'll get over it soon. So for me, the salon is 5 stars, but the service at time can be 1 star when Cathy isn't there, so I split the difference for this location. I came here for a Mystic tan. It was pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon- I appreciated that I didn't need an appointment. There's a small shop up front with clothing and accessories in addition to the usual lotions. I was helped very quickly and got registered with no problems. I only wanted the spray tan, and had printed a coupon from their website. I wasn't pushed to buy any other products or upgrade (I've experienced this more than once). The room with the booth was small but clean. The walls in the room are fairly thick- it makes me feel a little uncomfortable taking off all my clothes when I can hear everything on the other side of the wall and in the front area, but not here! The staff walked me through the process then left me to use the machine. This was my first time using this particular brand, but not my first time spray tanning. I wasn't impressed with the tan- there were only 2 sprayer passes so there were a few areas on my sides that were missed. The whole booth filled up with the mist and it hung around for a long time afterward. I was also still fairly wet when it was over. I did the lightest level- I didn't turn orange, just sort of uneven, and I had to repair this with sunless tanning lotion on my own. This seems like it might be a nice place to go for UV tanning if you're into that sort of thing- I walked by the rooms (most of the doors were open) and they were all fairly nice looking. My offer was buy one get one free, so i'll be back one more time and perhaps alter my approach to the Mystic tan booth (are you supposed to dance around in the booth or something?) The rooms/booths are clean, and the customer service was pleasant. For $25, however, you can get a much higher quality spray tan. read more

I have never been tanning before and had no idea what to expect. I felt silly with all the questions that I had but the staff was so helpful in explaining everything even the dumb things like what is the wet towel for!! My first visit I did the spray tan and had wonderful results however because I'm 6 foot five non-of the spray got my face and I looked a little bit off. Discolored if you will. So I went back to next day without an appointment as they never really seem to need appointments and they were more than happy to spray my face and it looked just fine. I don't mean to say that they're never busy just sometimes there is a few minute weight for a certain bed but never anything more than five minutes in my experience. Let me start off by saying that I am have not stepped a foot inside of this Sunchain location prior to today nor have I ever used their tanning beds before. I live in Gilbert/Queen Creek area so this location would not be doable for me on a weekly basis. However, with that being said, I had an excellent experience today hence my 4-star rating (even though Alexa was wonderful, I am unable to give Sunchain higher rating since I did not get a chance to use their tanning beds). Alexa was super friendly (both on phone and in person) and in my opinion, displayed one of the better attitudes I have encounter lately from a customer service standpoint. She surpassed my expectations, especially since the only thing I had to purchase was some tanning bed eyewear... C'mon, let's admit it, most tanning salons' employees would not have been as helpful if they knew (in advance) that you were not planning to purchase their tanning packages. Alexa seem to be that rare exception and that is the reason why I decided to write this review. In my opinion, she deserves a 5-star rating! Even though I was not able to become a client at this particular location, I was given information on a Sunchain location much closer to my home. I will check it out soon and if all Sunchain locations have this type of customer service - well, consider me a new client! read more

This location's employees are just plain rude.. either a self-proclaimed tanning lotion guru, or a snotty teenager who lied directly to my face. The bed I used turned on after 2 minutes, while I hadn't even applied lotion over my legs. When I asked how long the "prep" time is, the worker said "10 minutes". I had said that the bed turned on way too early, and I missed most of my tan time due to applying lotion. She shrugged her shoulders and said, "it was 10 minutes". Oh. Okay.
