It's a little hard to find because it's kind of tucked away.. but cool place, bought a bottle, and enjoyed some samples!

Yum. I stopped for the night at a wonderful riverside hotel and asked for a nice place for dinner…read more They had a few recommendations but the Parrott House stood out. It is a Victorian Mansion. (With several ghosts) set on a hill. The food was delicious, the ambiance was delightful, and service was attentive but not "in your face". The whole evening was special.

It has been a year since I've been to the Parrot House and wanting to try their reinstated buffet…read more I like a buffet where you can try different foods. I really wanted to like this place because it's the one fairly fancy place in town...but, it was a disappointing experience. We got to the restaurant for our 10am reservation but the door didn't open until exactly 10. People huddled under the porch because it was raining fairly hard. We were shown inside, then back outside to another room to our table. We ordered and they said the buffet was in the tent-outside. So, coat & rain hood back on to go to the buffet. Unfortunately, the buffet wasn't ready so we went back to our seats. The buffet wasn't ready for around 20 minutes-because some of the kitchen crew called in sick so they were operating with less help. The remaining crew was working hard to get it set up. So they were doing a good job-they just needed more help. The buffet had: Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy, Jalapeño Cheddar Bagels, Smoked Salmon, Salad, Dressing, Potato Dill Soup, an Omelet bar and Prime Rib. Unfortunately, most of the food we got wasn't warm. I think the top of the chafing dishes were able to cool off, even though, the bottom was hot. Didn't know that until going back in. Thats a dangerous situation where bacteria can grow. The bread was excellent. It was a chewy Italian bread. The butter balls were firm so hard to spread. There were bagels and smoked salmon but it would have been nice to have something other than just jalapeño cheddar bagels for the smoked salmon. Maybe, get something more neutral in flavor that more people would eat. I think I have fairly normal tastes and love biscuits & gravy but the biscuits and gravy had an odd flavor to me. I wasn't a fan but that may be a preference. The prime rib was ok but not terribly tasty. The Potato dill soup was just ok, too. The omelet bar probably was the safe choice since you pick your ingredients but I make those often at home so I wanted to try other things. I think they are trying to be fancy instead of just making good food that everybody would like. Service was good. We did have to wait for coffee but overall they were nice and did a good job letting people know when the buffet was ready. Overall: Ambiance is 5/5; Service 4/5, Food-the temperature, late food and having to walk in the rain to the tent and back with a plate of food while getting rained on drops the overall score to 3/5. Opening that heavy door with a plate of food is a problem, too. Maybe have the tent right outside the entrance to the main dining room so your customers and their full plates don't have to be out in the rain. There has to be a better way.

Friend and I split a Blue Burger with regular fries. I did the order online for to-go while on I-5…read moreto do a 15 mile detour (one way) to the restaurant. We arrived at the expected time frame for pickup. We requested: the cook to be rare, no bbq, ketchup on the side and cut in half. Burger was cut in half. Check. It did not have bbq sauce. Check. Ketchup on the side. Check. It was overcooked. Sad. The bacon and blue cheese was really good! The bacon was thick, not crispy. And from what I understand, it is from their ranch. The burger patties (came with two) was just overcooked and a little dry. My friend said it was salty, I couldn't tell if it was the seasoning or blue cheese. The build for it was decent- no other toppings on it to allow the bacon and cheese to shine. The fries were not enjoyable. I imagine this is something best enjoyed fresh and hot. Service for pick up was very friendly. Environment was clean. They have taxidermy all over the wall. Bathroom was clean. I'd like to try this place again, but to eat in house, if I'm ever up in the area again. The bacon is worth it. They have a full menu online, used Toast to order ahead, which was very convenient. The only feedback is the menu online doesn't include descriptions so I bounced between a yelp post with a photo of menu explaining the burgers.

I had the burger salad, hubby had the M5 alarm and we also ordered the Brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed their live music with our meal. 5 stars decor, vibe and music 4 stars for steam distillery…read moretasty drinks 3 stars for super slow service and 3 stars food from That One Place. Have been to Steam Distillery now on multiple occasions since they opened and continue to hope that service time will improve. The Lemongrass Collins is my absolute favorite cocktail on their menu, its just unfortunate that the service is extremely slow. There is typically only 1 or 2 employees handling the entire space and since the drinks are all crafted, between waiting to get your order taken and then waiting for the drinks to arrive, you're looking at 15 to 20 minutes. For the first time of these visits, we made reservations for the now reservation only Sunday menu. Reservation was at 4 and you had to place your order at the time of making your reservation days ahead. We didnt get our meals until 445. While the menu and presentation were amazing, the taste was not there. Lobster was very overcooked and lacked flavor in the seasoning, prime rib cut was impressive at 16oz but was cooked perfect and thankfully was served with some type of horseradish cream. The potatoes were stated as being a mashed potatoe type but we're not a mash in my opinion at all. It was a half super chunky scoop with the sour cream and butter kind of hidden in the middle.
