Yum. I stopped for the night at a wonderful riverside hotel and asked for a nice place for dinner. They had a few recommendations but the Parrott House stood out. It is a Victorian Mansion. It has been a year since I've been to the Parrot House and wanting to try their reinstated buffet. I like a buffet where you can try different foods. I really wanted to like this place because it's the one fairly fancy place in town...but, it was a disappointing experience. We got to the restaurant for our 10am reservation but the door didn't open until exactly 10. People huddled under the porch because it was raining fairly hard. We were shown inside, then back outside to another room to our table. We ordered and they said the buffet was in the tent-outside. So, coat & rain hood back on to go to the buffet. Unfortunately, the buffet wasn't ready so we went back to our seats. The buffet wasn't ready for around 20 minutes-because some of the kitchen crew called in sick so they were operating with less help. The remaining crew was working hard to get it set up. So they were doing a good job-they just needed more help. The buffet had: Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy, Jalapeño Cheddar Bagels, Smoked Salmon, Salad, Dressing, Potato Dill Soup, an Omelet bar and Prime Rib. Unfortunately, most of the food we got wasn't warm. I think the top of the chafing dishes were able to cool off, even though, the bottom was hot. Didn't know that until going back in. Thats a dangerous situation where bacteria can grow. The bread was excellent. It was a chewy Italian bread. The butter balls were firm so hard to spread. There were bagels and smoked salmon but it would have been nice to have something other than just jalapeño cheddar bagels for the smoked salmon. Maybe, get something more neutral in flavor that more people would eat. I think I have fairly normal tastes and love biscuits & gravy but the biscuits and gravy had an odd flavor to me. I wasn't a fan but that may be a preference. The prime rib was ok but not terribly tasty. The Potato dill soup was just ok, too. The omelet bar probably was the safe choice since you pick your ingredients but I make those often at home so I wanted to try other things. I think they are trying to be fancy instead of just making good food that everybody would like. Service was good. We did have to wait for coffee but overall they were nice and did a good job letting people know when the buffet was ready. Overall: Ambiance is 5/5; Service 4/5, Food-the temperature, late food and having to walk in the rain to the tent and back with a plate of food while getting rained on drops the overall score to 3/5. Opening that heavy door with a plate of food is a problem, too. Maybe have the tent right outside the entrance to the main dining room so your customers and their full plates don't have to be out in the rain. There has to be a better way. read more

My wife and I were in Roseburg for a family vacation. We were looking for a brunch spot and happened across the Parrott house as a suggestion. Based on reviews alone, I couldn't decide but I was leaning in the direction of The Parrott House. I'm so glad we chose it, For non-locals, it was a bit confusing to find, but once you do, there's no mistake, Immediately when you walk up, you're greeted with the beauty of this place. Immediate appeal. We walked in and were promptly greeted and sat down to wait for our table, after a few short minutes, we were escorted through the beautiful house to our table. This entire place is absolutely beautiful. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with coffee and wife ordered an omelette with tea. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Zero complaints about this place. My ride or die kiddo and I had just spent hours driving through a safari park and it was more then dinner time! Hopped on Yelp to see what was around and we were so lucky to have chosen this lovely place. First impression, well, it was very odd driving through a neighborhood to find a restaurant. Upon arrival, though, it was clearly an old mansion they had taken and turned into a restaurant. It was really pretty, very well-kept, and walking up to the front doorway was just a lovely walk. Service was wonderful, warm, and friendly. They had a wonderful selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Had my daughter been there I am sure she would have made broad use of that. We both had a ginger soda: he had the ale, I had the beer. Our weight staff was attentive, they brought out their truffle popcorn as soon as we sat down with water. We were in a wonderful little corner, overlooking their lawn, which would be perfect for events. Also on a chili evening if they had the fireplace lit, it would be perfect. I had the chicken marsala on recommendation of our server, and she was spot on. It was a pretty dish, although I was worried that the chicken strips looked like they may have been dry. They absolutely were not! The marsala sauce was just divine, silky, and so full of flavor. The chicken was wonderfully cooked, moist and tender which is an oddity for white meat! My son had the file, mid rare. It was exactly how he likes it and he has been asking since when we're going back to Oregon just so we can go there again. We ended our meal with the very last crème brûlée. The custard was smooth & creamy, and it had a wonderful crackle of sugar to smack with our spoons. A fitting end to a crave-able meal. And yes, we will be returning, as we had such a lovely visit. And we will be revisiting. This really neat restaurant for sure. read more

First of all the food had quite good flavor, that was the only+. We were there for thanks giving & very disappointed, for a $55 per head we were informed that there would only be one plate per person at the buffet, no returns. Turkey & ham, sweet potato, mashed potato, corn I saw no green vegies & one type of bun, a few devilled eggs & 4 desert pies that looked like they came from a supermarket, had to cut my own piece & there was a can of cream sat on the bench. We have eaten here before but it was never in such a bad state, where we sat was right next to an outdoor building full of junk & very untidy mess. On leaving we passed a baby diaper on the garden at the front steps. Not very clean & staff were average at best with no attention to detail. Will choose somewhere else next time unless they clean up the run down place & improve their service read more

Went to the Fathers Day buffet. Been a while since there. Prices almost double with no prior notice at all. Staff very nice with the beautiful building. Food one star for the fresh made omlet( which doesn't take much talent. All else was horrible or strange (hot dogs), really. Went for the Thanksgiving buffet dinner in November 2025. Major disappointment! The only appetizer served was deviled eggs. We had to wait a good amount of time before the white meat turkey and sweet potatoes were refilled before we could eat. The sweet potatoes were canned; the mashed potatoes were lumpy and not hot. The stuffing was a joke----chunks of different bread thrown together, no seasoning that I could taste,and totally dry! I think the whole meal was inferior & given the price, outrageous. We have eaten at the Parrot House a few times and it had been very good, but Parrot House just went through another new owner, and things are a bit unorganized and the food has dropped in quality. My Martini was great, as was my brother-in-laws Bloody Mary, which was a good start. I had the "Turf and Surf", which was grilled lobster tail atop a fillet. Lobster was fine, but when it came to the fillet, I had to check my shoe to make sure I wasn't eating my shoe sole. Other 3 dinners were eyebrow raising too. But on the positive, the ambience was very nice. This restaurant has so much potential. I just wish someone would do something good with it. Get the food quality close to spectacular, and word of mouth will be golden. read more

I hadn't been to The Parrott house in over a year, and decided to give it a shot on Friday night. I grabbed a seat at the bar and was mostly disappointed. I usually love a quiet seat amid the bustle of restaurant activity, but this felt disorganized and haphazard. Toilet paper and other random items adorn the wine fridge. Everything is cluttered. The staff seems undertrained, with the bartender not knowing which ice cubes he had access to. I had the Old Fashioned and the resulting shaking with ice left it very watered down, which wasn't my favorite. The Bleu Chicken was a huge salad, but even though the chicken was grilled it felt bland and canned. The Halibut flavor and execution saved the day, but the richness of the rice couldn't be detached from the fish due to the way it was plated. More of a personal opinion, but I would have liked to enjoy them separately. It's obvious the location has a lot of promise. The building is amazing, and I've been in the enclosed patio before and it was a good experience doing more simple things like pizza and burgers. Maybe that's the niche they should pursue instead of a mild attempt at $40 per plate entrees. I am writing on behalf of UVC regarding our high school formal held at The Parrott House on November 15th. While we appreciated the beauty and historic charm of the venue, the overall experience fell far below what was promised and what is reasonable to expect--especially for one of our school's most significant events of the year. Due to a series of substantial service failures, misrepresentations, and lapses in preparation, our students did not receive the event they paid for, and we are formally requesting a partial refund. Below is a detailed account of the issues we encountered: 1. Undelivered and Misrepresented Entertainment Services During our planning and walk-through, the venue represented that the event would include: Life-sized games (Connect 4, Jenga, Cornhole) A prepared and functional game room Disco ball and dance floor lighting Outdoor heaters Both fireplaces lit None of these services were provided. The "game room" was instead used as a storage area with cords, bare tables, and no functional games. Without these promised amenities, students had no organized entertainment during the delays. 2. Inability to Provide the Music and Dance Setup We submitted our playlist ahead of time and were assured it would be ready. Instead: The system was not set up when we arrived and our playlist was not accessible Despite repeated inquiries, it was never functional Students did not dance at all, which is central to the purpose of a high school formal This was particularly disappointing for seniors, for whom this event is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 3. Significant Catering Failures Catering issues were among the most impactful problems: Dinner was served over an hour late, with the main course not arriving until 8:30 p.m., the scheduled end of the event Portions were unreasonably small, with some students receiving only 2-3 bites of protein Soda was heavily watered down Dessert, while technically served, was delivered after students had already left, meaning they did not get to enjoy it The soup course burned, causing additional delay, and we were not notified ahead of time Unacceptable Portion Sizes Despite Paying for 100 Meals We paid for 100 dinners, yet only 74 were served. You informed us that it was "too late" to reduce our numbers to 75 because the food had already been ordered. Despite this, students received very minimal portions, leaving a significant portion of the food unused. Serving sizes should have reflected the abundance of food already paid for. Guests Left Unfed We are aware of three individuals who did not receive dinner at all Two additional individuals were initially not served and did not receive a meal until approximately 9:10 p.m.--long after the event ended You previously promised to compensate for those two meals, and we expect that commitment to be honored Security and Oversight Issues Your staff also allowed two non-UVC individuals to take food and use the photobooth--both paid for by our students--representing a serious lapse in oversight. 4. Professional and Safety Concerns Upon arriving 30 minutes early, I found the doors locked and several preparations incomplete Only then were we informed of a recent health inspection and fire marshal inspection, which should have been communicated in advance Promised outdoor heaters were not present, and only one fireplace was lit The photobooth and food were not restricted to our paid group These lapses contributed to a general sense of disorganization and lack of professionalism. 5. Inappropriate Commentary During Dinner We were told students would receive guidance on formal dining etiquette. Instead: Place settings were minimal (a fork, butter knife, and spoon) alongside mismatched glasses Following this, ghost stories and a story about someone recently overdosing and haunting the upstairs were shared, which was inappropriate and uncomfortable for students. 6. The Result: Students Did Not Receive the Event They Paid For. Students used hard-earned, fundraised money expecting a full formal experience: dinner, dancing, games, entertainment, and atmosphere. Instead, they received: Severely delayed dinner Inadequate portion sizes Missing or inaccessible games No dance lighting or disco ball No functional playlist or dancing Dessert served after the event ended Guests who never received dinner at all Paid amenities accessed by individuals outside our group Seniors, in particular, cannot recreate this night. It was a major letdown and a clear failure to deliver the promised event. I would not recommend this venue for a group event. When we requested a partial refund, we were met with silence- no response to our multiple communication attempts. We also have yet to receive the compensation that the owner promised for the meals that were never served. read more

We were visiting family over the weekend and they wanted to take us here for brunch (i.e., reservations recommended). This is one of Roseburg's hidden gems, but not exactly that hidden because you can see it off of 99. Menu: You have a choice from the fixed menu or the all you can eat buffet. We went for the buffet (yay)! There is also a drink menu, but we decided to go with coffee! Buffet: Potatoes, blintzes, sausage (good sausage), bacon, french toast, waffle, biscuits/gravy), eggs, prime rib station. There's a table with assorted pastries/muffins, yogurt/toppings and another table with fruit and salad. There's a small table with dessert (cookies, cheesecake bites, chocolate tart, etc.). Is there anything else I missed? Surroundings: OMG! This place is gorgeous! The buffet dining room area is rustic surrounded with wood and a dramatic chandelier and also has indoor dining. There's a covered patio section outside of that with more dining and a dining area/bar seating near the wheelchair entrance. We sat in the open area next to the fireplace for outdoor dining. I can totally see this place is used for private parties and events. The outdoor garden is pretty and a deer happened to greet us when we arrived! There's a Bourbon bar between the patio and outdoor seating! It's Haunted: Rumor has it this place is haunted. I asked our server about it and she said that one of the waiters walked in and saw a ghost at the bar making a cocktail. I don't think this place is going to stop people from visiting because the food is pretty good. No one seemed spooked and looked like everyone was having a good time. What a cute restaurant with great food, drinks and fast, friendly service. Truly a gem in the small town of Roseburg. There are so many hidden spots that gives each set of tables a little privacy. The outdoor patio is adorable and they are open for indoor dining. There's a small whisky bar on the patio, spots to lounge on the grass and you can go upstairs to enjoy the view. We started with a Cesar salad. The croutons were purposely over baked for an extra crunch that really worked for this salad. For drinks, I ordered a lemon drop that was filled to the brim and delicious. Got my monies worth. For my entree, I ordered the Alaska salmon seasoned with Brazilian spices (not sure what those were exactly) served over a bed of risotto. The salmon was delicious and cooked to perfection. The risotto was good too. A bit oily and tight for my taste but still full of flavor. My friend ordered one of their steak cuts. It was cooked to her preferred temperature and the mashed potatoes were to die for. We did not end the night with dessert because we were so stuffed from their good sized portions. Wow, who would have expected a restaurant of this scale and truly charming atmosphere in a small town. I was seriously impressed. We have truly enjoyed brunch here 3 times over the last 4 years. I'm not sure what has changed but we were very disappointed when we came there this time. We arrived when they opened and were seated in a small area off the bar as you come in. As we waited the bar tender finally came over to see if we wanted something to drink & bring us water. After 14 more minutes the lady that sat us came by taking others to another area I asked if we could get menus. She said, "it's brunch only no menu, do you know where to go?" I said, no. She said "just go out that door and look for the big white tent." We had no idea, we had been here before on Sundays and you had a small menu OR brunch your choice. This food tent was all the way across the buildings for us, it was crazy for 2 guests, ages 70 something getting through all the people, stand in a long line then try to work our way back to the bar area with our full plates. By then our food is cold, which brings me to some of the choices: Bacon was extremely raw, biscuits very hard, gravy by the time we got back was like paste. Anyway.....we were very disappointed on this visit. We were there over an hour watching everyone else walk through to be seated near the food tent and just couldn't figure out why we were seated so far away. I never give 5 stars The Koi Club (Oregon Koi and Watergarden Society) just had our holiday party for 20 people, and the dinner was over the top. I tasted the salmon, and I had the beef. The reports on the chicken were all in line with a top-notch meal. Appetizers were not something we discussed, but there they were . . . wild mushrooms on toast, fondue, and Brussels Sprouts that even my "I hate Brussels Sprouts" wife had seconds of. I could find shortcomings, but they were tiny, and the overall event was superb. I'm running out of great things to say. We also had the salmon which had way too much cheese, even though our waitress never mentioned it had cheese. Our drinks were ok but there were close to no beer selections. The staff is exceptionally friendly, the ambiance is to-d-for & the owner's passion is evident. Even if you're not a huge eater (as I am not) the $20 brunch buffet is a terrific value, as you can choose what & how much you want of everything. While I would recommend the expand their vegetarian offerings, I would understand if that's not the play in Roseburg, OR. If we ever find ourselves in Roseburg, again, we'll be back. My wife and I have been visiting the Parrot House for our special days over the last couple of years. We've been pleased with the previous owner and now with the new owners Fabiane and her mother, Slyvana. When I'm not traveling all over Nevada, California and Oregon we make it our mission to go where the best food and service is. Valentines Day 2023 was the last big coordinated meal we were able to enjoy prior to the last three visits at the Parrot House in 2023. We visited two times over this last weekend and both of us throughly enjoyed our time dinning and soaking up the beautiful architecture of the house with the exposed wood beams and nicely furnished decor. We have always had great service with Amber as our waitress. She's always kind, courteous and brings a positive feeling to the table. She has taken the time to know us and that feels really good to visit and have her remember you. Amber makes sure we are always leaving satisfied and wanting to return. The other employees have always been warm and inviting to us as well. Back on February 14th, 2023, we ordered the Tomahawk steak and we were not let down one bit. The dinner and the steak were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked steak along with the scrumptious sides. The atmosphere was wonderful as we sat in the back room with the fireplace. We couldn't go wrong with the fireplace crackling with an inviting and toasty fire. I was able to speak with Fabiane and express my gratitude and appreciation for the fine meal and atmosphere. She took the time to talk as if we were good friends being reacquainted. Upon our return back this last Saturday, we were able to speak again and she informed us of the new Italian menu and the grand opening of the new Bourbon Bar on the following Sunday which was yesterday, July 16th, 2023. If you're fan of the McMinnimins Edgefield, near Portland, Oregon, then you're going to really love what the ownership is planning and transforming for the Parrot house. Firstly, the Parrot House is a beautiful restored Victorian home located in Roseburg, Oregon on the south end of the town. The previous owner loved her house and it was apparent by the original transformation and renovation she was able to achieve. What I love, as you're driving past the parrot house on Interstate 5, there is almost a Beetlejuice vibe, but this house is even more beautiful. This is a inspiring place that will provide beautiful and love inspiring wedding memories. It's truly one of the best places to visit in all of Roseburg for a wonderful dinning experience. We love the whiskey house in Edgefield and the bourbon room is reminiscent of that to me. It holds its own identity though, and really makes for a good spot to order a unique and delicious drink made with your selection of a list of fine bourbons. Beautifully decorated inside, the Bourbon room is only missing a little wood burning fireplace. But everything else seems to be decorated just perfectly. As the new owners have tirelessly dedicated their lives to making the Parrot House a local destination for the surrounding area, they are attracting people from afar on travel seeking out a historic Victorian feel to the restaurant. The Parrot House is beautifully taken care of both outside with lovely landscaping and you almost feel like you're a lead actor in a romantic movie scene while eating inside or outside on the back patio. With Roseburg's lean work force, I don't know other than from the pure passion and love for cooking, how Fabiane & Slyvana are so decided to their mission in making everyone feel special. They and their small staff make it work so well. If you're considering a beautiful place to visit during all seasons in the Roseburg area prior to a special event, wedding or just for a lovely meal with style, this is the place. We were in Roseburg in order to visit a relative in nearby Sutherlin. Returning from a short hike with about 10 people, I noted that the Parrott House looked promising, so we stopped by. Located in a beautifully restored Victorian house and outbuildings in Roseburg, OR, I was flabbergasted by the grounds, and the way that the old kitchens and stables had been converted to dining rooms. Since our time was limited, we had a bottle of wine and some hors d-œuvres in the bar area. Was extremely impressed by the depth of the winelist, in particular the Oregon pinots, which the sommelier explained in great details. About a year later, my wife and I were passing through on our way from Portland to LA and decided to stop for dinner. The building and grounds were the same, although a bit shabbier looking. The food was OK but had the Velvet Turtlesque quality of aspiring to but not achieving the culinary heights represented by such classics as Salmon en Papillote or Beef Wellington. My impression is that they originally aimed to attract foodies away from the Mississippi Avenue neighborhood in Portland but have yet to achieve that goal. read more

We had a reservation for 5:30pm. We showed up about 5:20, waited only 5 min or so and were shown to a table in the back area. No one brought water or anything. At 5:50pm, a waiter finally came to our table. He was the only waiter we saw in the restaurant. He took our order. At 6:15 he brought us bread and our drinks. At 6:26 i asked him when our salad would be arriving cause we had tickets to a show at 7pm. He said he would put a rush on it. We left at 6:35, no salads, no appetizers, no dinner on valentines. We spent over an hour and only saw the waiter twice. I was a little dumbfounded. I wasn't expecting a super fast service dinner, this is why i allotted an hour and a half. The menu only was serving 3 entrees. So this wasn't complicated. We left cash on the table for our two drinks and left to not miss our show. Absolutely disappointing. Why would you dress up your restaurant for valentine's and only have one server? Will never go here again. I really had (what i thought) was a good valentines planned for my wife, but ended up a total bust. Will never recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice place to eat. I went for the appetizers and a cocktail since they had advertised Friday nights. It was not busy, so I was seated right away, given a menu, and then abandoned. I waited for about 15 minutes, at least. Employees were up front talking to each other and the bartender. We had organized 2 team dinners here. They have a live singer who regularly plays there. The atmosphere is homey and the interior is like a cottage. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. We had variety of dietary needs and each one was accommodated. We started with a salad. The steak was very well done both times. The vegetarian pasta was very delicious with vegetables. The s'mores was the best part. They put a camp fire in the center of the table and you toast your s'mores on it. They have free parking and are open till like 9pm. We recently moved to Roseburg and after looking at reviews and pictures on Yelp of the Parrot House we were anxious to check it out and thought brunch on a Sunday would be a good time. We arrived around 11:30 and were treated super good by the staff all very friendly and customer service to me is huge. The only problem the food was almost gone or cold. It was a mess. We paid the same amount as the people that showed up at 10:00am and should have received the same quality of food, all there and hot. I wanted French toast and there was two left and stuck to the bottom of the pan. (So no French toast) the biscuits for the gravy were hard and cold and the gravy was Luke warm. We won't be back for brunch that's for sure but we might be back for dinner at some point. I wish I would have taken pictures of the mess and lack of food. I couldn't even get one of the omelet's prepared for me because they didn't have eggs I would have to wait. That's not cool. 21 days ago I posted that review and heard 0 back from Parrot House management to say I am disappointed would be correct. I was going to give them another shot Dinner or lunch but with no response from the management . I will not return. read more

What an amazing surprise on a rainy day in a very out of the way small town. During from California to Washington we got a bit hungry and found this adorable place online. It got good reviews so we went searching to find it. I am so glad we did! Lunch was a pre-prepared small menu, and quite tasty, but dinner looked amazing. There were so many wonderful private areas to eat, you could not help but feel pampered. The staff was helpful and made you feel right at home. There was an interesting and varied wine selection and the cutest small gourmet store I've seen in a while! It is worth taking the time to find! read more

August 2018. Was it because we had not eaten cheese, especially pizza, in the last 18 months, or was is that darn good? I would like to think it was the latter. So I am going to say, "What a find. What a wonderful way to ruin your diet." This was our extremely rare, cheat meal and we loved every bite. Everything about this Roseburg gem was special. I am hot to trot about anything Victorian anyway, and that is what first caught my eye. This is a classic, beautifully restored little mansion that is on the south tip of a pretty Oregonian town nestled in the hills, a perfect date spot, a perfect wedding/birthday celebration spot, a perfect come-as-you-are place. Meticulously cared for gardens surround them, and inside, the original rooms have been converted to intimate dining spaces. There is a bar in one room that features a gorgeous, cast iron and mahogany fireplace. Our house tour that eventually led to our table took us by at least two inviting patio areas to a tastefully added, newish room in the back with high timbered ceiling and large windows to give the impression of still being outside. They feature a wood fired pizza oven surrounded by counter seating in the back patio. Once we saw that *and* the menu, there was no doubt this called for the downfall of our carb/dairy abstinence. We kept it simple, a simple salad for starters. But it was my first bite of the Forager Pizza, a white pizza masterpiece with wild mushrooms, creamy buffalo mozzarella, fresh herbs, and added Italian sausage, was tantamount to dying and going to heaven in my book. The crust was poofy and crisp, quite thin, with burnt bits freckled throughout. Food porn... so distracting I forgot to take a picture. Do yourself a favor and search the gallery for somebody else's pictures. Every bite was a fresh experience, and it was all gone far too soon. Add to that a lovely Riesling that paired perfectly with a meal that was already way too wonderful for words, and we left wondering if we should put our home up for sale and move to Roseburg immediately. This very selfish person believes this should be kept a secret. Yet, I am also a blabbermouth because I want to revisit it for many more Oregon trips. The Parrott House has been my go to restaurant for special events! I have had my Wedding Rehearsal dinner there and multiple family members birthday parties. I have never had a bad meal there. There menu is always up to date when the seasons change. I absolutely love the customer care and hospitality the waiters have. They are all very friendly! Even during this difficult time with the pandemic, they are all so so kind. The atmosphere of the Parrott House is unmatched! There is no other restaurant like it. The decor is to die for. Wonderful food, service, and ambiance. The outdoor seating is quite relaxing on a beautiful day like today.

A beautiful 1899 Victorian home, refurbished to a stately grandeur. The menu options are great, but the halibut special stole the show. Crispy skin, with a salty touch enhanced the delicate filet. Wines from the nearby Abecela winery were a great touch. The charcuterie plate has requisite salted meats alongside stone ground mustard and watermelon radish with toast points. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. A great service. read more
