The property itself is huge so be prepared for lots of walking. The main trail is paved, and there are other off road trails that are not. We brought our 2 young children and they handled both very well. It was very educational and the houses were kept in excellent condition. I would have liked to see more of the yellow house but I understand why it's closed off. The telephone exhibit was interesting and brought back memories of having land lines as a kid. I didn't understand how this park could possibly be on 150 acres! then I found a bridge that crosses over the canal & leads to the east side of the park w/ more soccer fields. There are signs saying skateboarding is not allowed. Which makes sense when there's not a dedicated space, But skateboarding has become popular for people of all ages, so can yall update? In any event, I will give them three stars and possibly change that whenever I see a person there to talk to. I did notice that there is a business with the same name who are located in Scottsdale. It is the exact same name so I guess they are affiliated. Perhaps they do their main business in the Scottsdale office. They have a very small driveway area to park your vehicle.

This annual salsa festival features several chefs from the valley offering guests samples of their salsas (I enjoyed the corn and nopalito salsa the best). To liven things up even more, there was music by the female mariachi group, Mariachi Pasion and salsa dance performances by Tropical Vibes Dance Company. Beverages and other foods such as carne asada tacos, carnita burritos, and various desserts could be purchased by those who want more stick-to-the-ribs fare. It was quite the fun event ... although John and I agreed that, with the fire from all the salsas we sampled, the rich flan that we bought should have been consumed at the end of our salsa sampling session, rather than at the middle like we did; dairy is known to help tone down the heat from chilies!

This year we were looking forward to the event, arrived early to claim seats in the shade, and then realized that there were no vendors setting up. The were only two vendors--one for food and one for alcohol--both cash (ticket) bars. The food vendor was however giving complementary chips and salsa. The whole event, except for the music (which was superb), was a complete let down. Usually there are approximately 15-20 salsa vendors and there is a competition, and there are free tequila tastings. Not this year. In fact, even though El Pedregal advertised the event as a Cinco de Mayo Festival, there was no "festival" involved. Please bring back the salsa challenge aspect of your festival. We were sorely disappointed in the event and left early.

During Halloween and Christmas season, the Bauler family lights up their neighborhood with a…read morebeautiful light show with music. It takes a tremendous amount of knowledge, time and talent to set up each song. So much fun to watch. It has been a family tradition to visit over the holidays. On weekends this Halloween, they even did fog bubbles. Since the fog they said has an odor, they went out of their way to put a scent in, so the bubbles were pleasant when they popped. If you're on the west side during these holidays, check out their website for dates and time and come visit. You may stay in the car while cranking up the tunes on 99.1, or you can watch them from the sidewalk. So much fun. We appreciate all the hard work they put into this , to entertain people during the holiday season.
