    Live music and bar
    Had R.

Review for the bar, yup folks, BAR! Happened to be walking around the Sundail area at night and saw heard live music and surprised to see the coffee shop, expanded out to a full bar with food. Prices were, not cave creek. Happy Groovy Hour, 3-6pm... includes $4 drafts, $5 wines. The bar is huge, theres a lot of choice for drink, draft, beers, wine and food too. The buffalo wings smelt amazing when i walked in. Although both businesses are together, the bar area is decorated completely different and very comfortable to sit in, in a cold raining night. That night, 2 guitarists were giving a great performance, not too loud for a small venue, they took requests and played really well. I was served as soon as I sat at the bar, I could only stop for 15 mins that night and the bar tender understood and quickly severed me a couple of drinks with rhe check as requested Definitely worth heading out and checking out the café, now at night

Decided to treat myself to a solo breakfast out since I was in the area. Super cute diner with a great patio with lots of seating. Friendly hostess and staff, quick to take my order and food came out fast. It was busy for a Monday morning! I ordered the Migas and it was tasty! The salsa was delicious and fresh. I loved the corn tortilla strips in every bite. Wish the black beans were seasoned but they were served hot. I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Stopped in for the live band. It was hard to figure out if it was open seating or not, but after awhile we were able to get someone to verify. We took a cozy table outside near the back by an outside heater which was nice because I forgot my jacket and it was a bit chilly outside. Our waiter was quick to deliver our order which was just drinks and fries. He checked on us an appropriate amount of times making sure we were alright. We had a great time.

Dad and his fruit cup at his fave breakfast spot.

Thanks BMC for always taking care of dad. This is by far his fave cave creek breakfast spot. Fruit cup, and two eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns and toast. Coffee with one Splenda, theee sugars and a boat load of creamer. Always get it right here. Special thanks to Laura and Raina and the other amazing staff members whose names escape me. Friendly and always right on time with dad's fruit cup. Grateful. We will be back.

INCREDIBLE! In my 62 years I have eaten out often in 22 states and 17 countries. Never had what happened today at Black Mountain happened. And what happened was really bad! My party of four and a lsweet and quiet less than 2 week old baby were THROWN OUT! Why? After waiting literally for OVER HOUR at our table to have our order taken we were told that the place was closing so we had to LEAVE! This was at 12:05 p.m. on a Monday. Again, INCREDIBLE!

My husband and I heard the most incredible music from across the parking lot. We were heading to Keelers Steakhouse but decided to go to Black Mountain Cafe instead. There was a group of musicians just having such a good time, just playing acoustic guitars. The music was spectacular and the musicians so friendly. We ordered dinner, sliders and two salads, so good. The waiter, Connor (also a bartender), was so funny, courteous, and attentive. We had several cocktails and the price was incredibly reasonable! We will definitely come back. What a fun place!

Margarita, Better after sending it back for a second try....
    Mike B.

Went REALLY early for Happy Hour (4PM). We were the only ones there..... Got personalized attention of course. The Drinks were OK, but we had send the Margarita back and it was MUCH better the second try. I ordered a Burger with Onion rings, which were not an upgrade which is unusual, but it came out a 'few' onion rings and the rest waffle fries as they ran out(?). I do NOT eat potato fries. So after I mentioned that, they brought me Sweet Potato fries, which I do like...... They are trying hard and made it right. They are kinda new for dinner and trying hard, and they have live music some nights, so we will give them a try again!!

I'm always pleased with my meals at this little gem- but, today I had a latte here for the first time and I was surprised by how delicious it was- one of the best coffees I've had in a long time!!

Cute location and great food. The service is kinda slow but still friendly. Love the outdoor seating.

The expresso martinis are amazing here. I had Baileys in mine and it was phenomenal! They had live music on a Sunday afternoon and it made the atmosphere very lively and interactive. The wait was a little longer than expected, but it was still a great experience. I would highly recommend this cafe to any expresso martini lover or someone who is looking for a great atmosphere while dining!

Avocado n egg toast and hash browns

Black mountain cafe is always a good choice for a brunch. My husband, MIL, and I came for brunch after Pat's run for some grub. It was a bit confusing with the outdoor seating because it's first come first serve but no one is really directing and we seemed to go during a rush. I'd recommend still having the hostesses direct people where to sit especially on the weekends during busy times. I ordered the breakfast burrito, my brunch go to. It was delicious and filling. The salsa also added some needed freshness. Next time I'll probably order hashbrowns instead of the home fries but the peppers and onions were good. My husband had pancakes and it was the perfect carbo loading for him. My MIL ordered the avocado toast and hashbrowns with her egg scrambled - it also looked delicious! We'll definitely be back!

A group of us went to Black Mountain on a Thursday night. We enjoyed a few drinks and listened to two great musicians sing songs they wrote while playing the guitar. They were fabulous. We are so fortunate to have a place we can enjoy such talented musicians. Love this place!

I truly left this spot with mixed feelings…read more On the one hand, our servers were fabulous! They were dealing with a very large party (with a lot of confusion) behind us, so it was clear both the servers and kitchen staff were stretched thin. I'm not sure if it's a newer addition based on the reviews, but the spot is decorated beautifully. With decor, games, a solid color scheme and a variety of menu options, it's truly an inviting standout in Carefree! Our food was just fine (I think they're aiming for elevated bar food), and our drinks were alright. I'm not sure my smoked old fashioned was prepared correctly but it happens. However, for the experience I left feeling I'd severely overpaid. Additionally, the company was questionable. A gentleman walked around the venue with a dog and a frown, a man came in barefoot to pick up an order, and I witnessed a non employee (or off shift employee?) sneak behind the bar several times. There seems to be a speakeasy medspa behind a painting, but we didn't get the details. This spot has the potential to be a total standout! A mixologist with a solid craft cocktail menu and execution, a menu rethink, and maybe some event programming and this spot could certainly be a home run! If I revisit, I'd be beyond delighted to see they've grown into their potential! Best of luck to these folks!

A Shoutout to Cindy & a New Neighborhood Favorite!…read more We just got back from lunch at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger in Carefree, and what a treat it was! To our delight, Cindy--yes, the Cindy many of us have known and loved for years--was there bartending and serving with the same warm smile and stellar service she's always been known for. This time, though, she's doing it at a place that offers great food, a fun and cozy ambience, and a dog-friendly patio--a rare combo that's hard to beat. Let's face it: dining out isn't as affordable as it once was. But as I told Cindy, I don't mind paying for quality food and excellent service--and that's exactly what you'll get at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger. For years, we were loyal regulars at Brisam's, visiting twice a week. But over time, prices soared, food quality declined, and the atmosphere never improved. The space started to feel tired and neglected. Sadly, the lack of connection from ownership didn't help--unless you were a former mayor or someone "important," you likely didn't get a second glance. Let's be honest: Cindy carried Brisam's for 18 years. Her genuine care for customers was the reason many of us kept going back. Now that she's moved on, it's no surprise to see the shift. So here's my suggestion: support a place that supports its people and customers. Tox Bar/Speedy Burger is that place. Stop by on Sundays or Tuesdays this summer to see Cindy in action. Come fall, I predict it'll be wall-to-wall locals enjoying everything this gem has to offer. Let's spread the word and give our support where it's truly deserved.

Julie was amazing to work with and accounted for every detail, included a welcoming sign and each place had it's own personalized menu card with his name and wishing him a happy birthday on it. The food was all amazing and the desserts were even better. We were on a slight sugar overload because we not only got the dessert that came as part of the prefixed meal, but they also brought out a 'birthday dessert' which was a giant slice of birthday cake, the creme brulee, and apple pie a la mode. It was a great touch but a lot of sweets. Some points to note but nothing to really 'complain' about... Other staff did come in to grab supplies from the supply closet which didn't bother us too much but some might think that it would feel like you were placed off into a supply closet turned 'private dining' rather than a true private dining room. The AC didn't seem to be working well so extra fans were brought into the room which helped slightly but it was still quite warm in the room. There is a steep ramp about 2 feet long that made getting in and out of the room a little challenging for my father in law with his walker and overall balance, but otherwise was not an issue. Overall it was a great experience and the party guests were very complimentary of the whole thing!

She responds so quickly and always addressed every question, idea, etc I presented. I loved getting to work with Julia, she is such an asset at Keelers. I cannot say enough good things about her! Overall, we had a good experience. They were very nice to provide a vegan option for one of our guests. The food was hit and miss with some dishes (like the NY Strip) being great and others being not so good (like the Prime Rib (although it was massive in size!) and Salmon). Our server Maria was great! She had a full section on the patio and then us off in the private room and she did a great job providing us with good, quick service and we loved her banter as well. All the staff we interacted with were really nice. We enjoyed being in the private room and not having to worry about disrupting other dinners, but there were some quarks with the private room. Staff often came in to access some kind of storage room within the room, we would have loved the ability to control the music ourselves, which was on when we arrived but stopped part way through out meal. The room is also separate from the rest of the restaurant, I assumed it would have been inside the same building but it is off the patio in it's own building and down a very steep ramp.

My review is based on only one lunch time visit. The resort has a new chef that competed on the Food-network TV and was victorious on to beat Bobby Flay with a Steak Torta Sandwich so we had to try it. We shared "The Bobby Slayer" Steak Torta Sandwich. The Sandwich is very large and comes with THE BEST house made potato chips I ever had. Inside the sandwich is absolutely delicious, melt in your mouth skirt steak, Oaxaca Chiles, Crispy CHICKEN SKIN, Avocado Creama and cabbage. All the flavors are off the charts delicious. You got acid, heat, delicious and it might be one of the best sandwiches out there. It is almost a perfect sandwich the only tweak it can use is a smaller roll because the meat doesn't make it to the ends of the sandwich. But wow this really was a great tasting sandwich. ($16.00) This was close to a five star experience if I leave out the other plate we shared. I can not recommend The Baja Fish Sandwich. I enjoyed that is was made with quality fish (Ling Cod) and came with a nicely grilled lime. However these tacos lacked a lot of things. They were made on soft flour tortillas that would have been better grilled or warmed up. The fish sat on plain cabbage so it lacked a flavor it should have had like a vinaigrette or some cilantro. Cotija Cheese was sprinkled on the tacos but they still were on the bland side. A smokey flavored mayonnaise came on the side that was good but not enough to bring the tacos up to the level they should be at. ($14.00) I tried one super amazing great sandwich and shared a plate of tacos that weren't awful but really weren't the best. Could be a one hit wonder, but "The Bobby Slayer Steak Torta" is worth the Trip! Great service with an Astonishing View.

We're certainly glad we did. Confluence offers a beautiful outdoor patio for dining, while the interior is intimate, with only six to eight tables and a small bar. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with warmth and character--you can definitely tell there's a thoughtful touch behind every detail. We were greeted by our bartender and server, Victoria, who also happens to be the co-owner. She was absolutely wonderful. Even though the restaurant was busy, she made us feel like we were her only guests. As we talked with her, we learned how she and her husband, Chef Brandon, are the entire operation and work seamlessly together to create an exceptional dining experience. The menu is intentionally small, but that's because every dish is prepared fresh to order. Chef Brandon's attention to detail is evident in every plate. The presentation is beautiful, and the complex, well-balanced flavor profiles showcase his culinary talent. We highly recommend the Gazpacho--it was outstanding. As former restaurant owners ourselves, we were especially impressed by how this husband-and-wife team consistently delivers such an exceptional level of food quality, hospitality, atmosphere, and overall uniqueness with such a small operation. Their teamwork and dedication are truly something to admire. If you're visiting the Carefree or Cave Creek area, make it a point to dine at Confluence. We don't think you'll be disappointed. One final tip: To ensure they can maintain the highest standards of food and service, they intentionally limit the number of guests they serve each evening. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during the busy season.
