Got take out from here and I was skeptical since porkbone soup is had to keep fresh for takeout. When I got home to try the portbone soup it was just as I suspected. You can't do porkbone soup for takeout as the soup will not stay warm enough. Food was good overall. Portions are super huge. read more

Another of my go-to place for Korean takeouts. There are many reasons why I love coming here. 1) it's very close to home. It's located in the central Markham area. 2) menu is extensive. There're so many items and combos to choose from. They also offer affordable lunch combos on the weekdays and they are such a great deal. 3) food taste good. I do find that Their pork bone soup is very spicy though 4) they give you A LOT of side dishes! I don't think it's fair to call them side dishes because each ones are stuffed in their own container and you can definitely treat them as another meal. The only down side is that it's hard to get in and out of that plaza since it's on Hwy 7 and that means there's usually lots of coming traffic. read more

Offering all the traditional Korean dishes, this restaurant is great. The quality is on par with other Korean restaurants, but doesn't necessarily exceed any expectation. The Kamjatang has great pieces and excellent flavour, as does the Bibimbap and Kimbap. The service here lacks, as every time we've gotten take out, the cashier (a younger worker) has always given us attitude and was not remotely friendly - I'd say it boarders on rude. I don't expect service to be amazing, but being nice to a customer is important, especially if they ask questions about the menu. This is contrasted by the owner, who is always friendly and nice. Love this little Korean takeout spot I have tried the japchae and beef bulgogi. Both are so good. ESPECIALLY the jap chae the "wok hei" is definitely there. We ordered one mild spicy kamjatang and dolsot bibimbap. Decent prices and generous portions. Considering the surrounding Korean restaurants, the quality of Sung Won I'd say is above average. The only complaints we had were the green vegetables on the bibimbap was bitter, the limited parking, and backing out onto Highway 7 can be challenging during rush hour. Decided to give Sung Won a try today after driving past it many times. Ordered the BiBimNaengMyun (Korean cold noodles) and the ManDu KalGukSu (pork dumpling noodle soup) for takeout. The service was fast and it was all ready within 10 minutes, we went on a Thursday around 5pm. It came with healthy portions of side dishes, including kimchi, japchae (noodles), potato salad, and fish cakes, that were all delicious. The BiBimNaeungMyun was a bit of a disappointment as the noodles were clumped together by the time we got home and it was quite chewy. The portion was also pretty small and also not a lot of flavour in it. The ManDu KalGukSu on the other hand, was really delicious. The pork dumplings were HUGE and the broth was really tasty. The soup was already in the noodles and some extra broth was given on the side. Overall, we would come back to check out other dishes, especially their lunch specials for 10.99$ on Mondays to Fridays from 10:30am-2pm. The side dishes were definitely a highlight and we would recommend the ManDu KalGukSu if you ever get a chance to try! read more

This place deserves the high rating it has. I ordered the JaJangMyun, KamJaTang, Kimbap and Royal DdukBokYi for takeout. The JaJangMyun noodles were great, and the sauce was not overly salty despite how dark it looks. It came in two containers so the noodles wouldn't get soggy before it reached home. The KamJaTang came with two gigantic pieces, and was extremely flavourful. Its definitely possible to order their soups for takeout. The Kimbap was good, there is slightly more rice than I would have liked, but its still good Kimbap. The Royal DdukBokYi imo is better than normal DdukBokYi, since usually its just extremely spicy without much taste. This one had pieces of beef in it for extra flavour. Lastly the amount of banchan I got from just ordering 4 things was incredible. They came in the same containers as the rice, and was filled to the brim. Definitely go here if you want really good Korean food. read more

Great family run business. Came to try their gamjatang and gimbal. Take out only. Food came out quickly. Gim bap had too much rice inside but otherwise it was good. We don't have a lot of this kind of Korean food around here, and I'm so thankful it's 5min from home. I've done 2x takeout orders and the food had been tasty every time. I find that the spice level is not as high as other places (just right for me), but for sure the food is cooked fresh. I've ordered Pork bone soup and spicy pork in the past. The quantity is really generous. Be prepared to share. One thing I realized after placing so many takeout orders at various places during this pandemic - labelling the order ticket with your name really makes a difference. I've had experiences where I have to read out long numbers and clarify which ordering app I used (and often times get scolded for not knowing the correct way to refer to the order number). Sungwon had it in their system so pick up and confirming my order was a breeze. Little thoughtful things makes a difference in the experience. I was looking up Korean restaurants near me and Sung Won kept popping up! I finally decided to try it today and will definitely keep coming back! I don't think there's another Korean restaurant that gives as big side dishes as they do! Other Korean restaurants give sides in those tiny styrofoam cups but Sung Won gives them in those shallow take out tubs!! They had me at side dishes honestly I love side dishes and most of the time I enjoy them more than my main. I especially loveee their kimchi, it's very fresh and a bit sweeter than I'm used to but it's good! They apparently sell it so I will go back to get it for sure. They have a mackerel and soon tofu combo for only $13.99 so that's on my list to try next and bossam of course. read more

We ordered 2 meals at 7 pm for pick up, they told me it would take 35 mins, it was pretty normal because it was weekend, then we arrived the restaurant after 30 mins. They said it will take another 30 mins.......=_=....fine....we can wait still.....but they said it's not guaranteed the order would be ready after 30 mins.........EXCUSE ME??????? 1 hour for 2 meals and not be guaranteed???? Then why you take phone calls for customers order????? They should not take any calls for order if they could not served on-time. This a new restaurant that I have been wanting to try. For their store opening, Sung Won Korean Restaurant is offering 20%! I am not sure when the promotion is until, but it is definitely worth it! Supporting local family businesses just became a lot more delicious! As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a a very friendly lady wearing a mask. Social distancing stickers were present, as was hand sanitizer. I ordered the Kimchi Rice with a Fried Egg (Number 3); she then relayed the order to a the cook in the back. When I went closer to look, the chief looked like the matriarch of the family. That could be why the food tasted so authentically Korean, delicious and the kimchi was perfectly sweet and spicy! I asked about if the hot pot was available for take away, and I was told, 'yes, and we give sides to go too!' The food reminded me of my trip to South Korea last year. I don't normally love Korean food but this place definitely changed my mind! I would say it's the best Korean place I've ever been to. They are currently doing take out only but the lady (most likely owner) who greeted us was so kind. We ordered the bossam, cold noodles, and pork bone soup. It was a short 10 minute wait so we waited in our car and she actually ran outside in the pouring rain to bring us our food! So so sweet. The bossam was perfectly marinated: the peanut sauce went well with it but the other sauce was a bit too salty for my liking; the cold noodles were the best I've ever had, with the broth being exceptionally delicious; and lastly, the pork bone soup that was super meaty, tender, and well-seasoned. There was TONs of delicious sides that were filled to the brim of their containers too! 100% would be coming back for the food and hospitality! read more

This new Korean spot is so delicious, fairly priced and gives you great portions. They gave us a variety of really well filled containers of side dishes including kimchi, japchae, potato salad and fish cakes. I ordered a kimchi soup and my boyfriend ordered a pork bone soup and they were both so delicious. Neither dish was too spicy and there was a lot of meat on those pork bones. We got our meals for 20% off because of the promotion they had so our 2 dishes only came out to around $23 which is amazing! Ordered gamza tang and it came in a huge bowl with three pieces of meaty bones and good amount of soup. The accompanying rice was packed, along with 4 amazingly flavoured banchan (side dishes were free!)..... (sweet mashed potatoes, kimchi, stewed fish cake, and japchae) The kimchi is out of this world good, and I'm guessing it's probably their own home made recipe. This Gamzatang portion is probably good for 2 people. Price is very reasonable, customer service was great. I will be returning for more food. read more

Parking is limited and had to wait longer than the pickup time but the food was great and portion size is good (I usually eat 2 people's worth of food). The reception girl mentions it's going to be a 45 min which I said was fine. But then she keeps saying it's going to take a long time and Denys me paying for the order. So I asked if the store is closing early due to Mother's Day and if so I'm ok to order other items that is easier that won't delay their closing time. No response to my question. I ordered the tofu soup and fish combo, the soup was almost the same size as appetizer container, was little disappointed with the portion but the food taste great.
