The doctors are very kind, and have always steered us in the right direction for my son's eye care. They might be a little more pricey than other places, but I feel with the customer service and the experience we have had there makes it worth it!

I usually don't leave bad reviews; however, in this case, a performance review is warranted. I…read morewent to this eye doctor for the very first time for an annual eye exam. I had no previous eye complications or concerns. Day 1: * Dr. Adam Bryan came into the room and greeted me as follows, "So what's up, what's up, what's new, what's good?" etc. I am not sure if this was because I am black or some other insecurity he was projecting, but the lack of professionalism in his tone and attitude were disrespectful and put me on edge. * As he reviewed the digital retinal imaging, he noticed something strange in the right eye. In his words, "We will rescan this eye to make sure there is no monster there." The rescan never happened; instead, he had me follow him out and wait for a lady to help me purchase glasses. I explained to the young lady that I would just take the eyeglass prescription elsewhere. From that point, I left the eye exam still processing rudeness and completely forgot about the rescan. * As the day went on, my right eye ("the one that may have indicated a monster") continued to feel discomfort, straining, irritation, and sensitivity to light. In the evening, I happened to notice there was an excessive amount of blood in the sclera portion in that same eye. Now, it is important to mention that I did NOT do anything strenuous after the appointment. * I called the office to speak to the on-call doctor since it was now after hours, but I left a message and never received a call back. NO RESPONSE. Day 2: * First thing in the morning, I went back to the same eye doctor to explain what occurred. The original retinal imaging device had some issues getting an image the prior day, so I asked to be rescanned with a different retinal imaging machine to make sure everything was done as advertised. It is also important to note this exam is NOT covered by insurance but at this office it is mandated. I also did not add on day 1, the technician had difficulty getting the picture of the right eye and when she did, I immediately felt a burning sensation and sharp pain on this particular side. I explained to her this was different discomfort compared to the left eye which was scanned. * Upon my revisit on day 2, I overheard this same technician tell the new technician who was now helping me, that the machine was going through updates during the time we had issues getting an image of the "monstrous eye." This is concerning if you are putting a patient on a machine that is NOT working to its full capacity. * IMHO, Dr. Bryan's approach was arrogant, accusatory and aggressive. He asked me, if I did not see the blood in my eye, "Would I be concerned?" I have said something like this before as well, but it was to my child...not a patient. This physician went on to explain that he did not see any increased pressure or inflammation but that he would treat my "symptoms" with a prescription eye drop for inflammation (interesting). * Preparing to leave, I overheard him greeting another patient with professionalism, dignity, and respect. No, this patient did not look like me. Personal Note: What Dr. Bryant didn't know is that I have 15 years of experience in the medical field, I am fully aware and familiar with processes and procedures. I was not there to be treated for anxiety or paranoia; my eye was hurting, and the eye was obviously under stress with visual evidence to support this. This physician never addressed why the reimaging was skipped during the previous day when he noticed something questionable, but instead he rushed me out to purchase glasses from his company (as he is the owner) and then had me out the door. Putting his lack of care on me as the patient is what I would consider, unethical. In addition, he charged my insurance for another visit to follow up on this issue the very next morning. A good doctor would listen, assess and evaluate. No patient feels comfortable being greeted in a degrading manner, regardless of color. DO BETTER.

We have insurance and we wanted the high dollar lenses .... My wife needs progressives... and they messed those up so she could not see. When you go back... they say you have to get a new exam to prove the Rx is still good.... Even though we got the exam the same day we ordered ... then we wanted the free second pair ... which we didn't qualify for while we waited until the glasses came back... so I paid $130 which she swore was the cheapest progressives could get... she then started processing the third pair ... I realized she charged me for tinting the quick pair even though she didn't tint them. Then I looked online and it was 2 pair of progresses for 69... her response was ... well you have to get two ... really .... At that point it was taking so long .. I just didn't feel like waiting for her to undo that transaction since we still had more glasses to order. When I asked if I could get refund she said .... You can just have tinted later or get refund when you come back. That turned out not to be true. They probably made about 1800 on us and now they are refusing to refund us $29 for services we didn't ask or receive. It's ridiculous... the specials are a scam!

I asked what happened. He told me an unleashed aggressive dog was standing directly inside the entrance and loudly snarled and growled at him as he tried to enter the store. The female owner of the dog&store told him the dog was a "rescue" and that it didn't take a liking to men. I have documented allergies to dogs and also fear them for their unpredictable nature as what happened when he casually walked into the store. It's a shame because he probably would have bought me something warm to wear if the dog had not been there growling at him. Also, I only buy second hand from smoke&pet free homes/stores. *Message to management: I've never owned a clothing store, but I've worked at one. It's very important for customers to feel safe and welcomed when trying on clothes and window shopping. In what world is it considered civilized to have an unleashed, untrained and aggressive dog positioned at the head of the store? You are actively discriminating against men shopping at your store by bringing this dog to work. Men like to surprise their girlfriend or wife or mother with something nice to wear from time to time. If you don't have liability insurance for potential dog bites when a man enters your store it might be time to get some. Or, better yet, just install a modern security system and leave your aggressive dog at home or bring it to a shelter. You will be doing the city of Raleigh and it's citizens a favor.

They've obviously spent some time considering lighting and it really helps put you in a good mood when you walk in. Dr. White was great! He gave me a bunch of options other than glasses without the resigned tone that some doctors have talking to a person in their 60's. He mentioned aging in a very gracious way, not by saying "at your age..." which really sets me off. As it happened I sent in an old pair of glasses to get new lenses put in. Unfortunately, the frames broke in the lab. I got a text message from Aimee who apologized and said I could come in and pick out replacement frames at no cost. That was very generous and much appreciated. I have a vision plan but by the time you add in all the extra options like protective coatings, the cost can really add up. So it was great to be able to get some new frames without incurring an additional cost. Highly recommended. I really like this practice and you will too.

It had been a few years since my last vision test, and with my new vision insurance finally active…read more(and, well, getting older), I figured it was time to get my eyes checked. I first called my old optometrist, but it turns out they don't take my new insurance. I could've paid out of pocket and submitted for reimbursement, but that would only get me $50 back on an $80 exam and since I'd only seen that doctor twice in seven years, I decided to go somewhere that actually accepted my plan. That led me to VisionWorks in Morrisville, a spot I pass almost every Sunday after my long run at Umstead, when I stop by Trader Joe's--small world. I booked my appointment online and received a call a few hours later, informing me that the doctor for that day would be seeing patients via telehealth. I wasn't entirely sure how that worked for an eye exam, but I said Sure, why not? Appointment Day I arrived, checked in, and met Tuesday, yes that's her real name. And fittingly, my appointment was on a Wednesday. She was awesome. Turns out she's been with VisionWorks for 24 years, which says a lot about the company and the work environment. After a short wait, Elle brought me back for the preliminary tests., machines, lenses, that little puff of air, the usual routine. About 10 minutes later, I was in the exam room. Then...bam...the doctor appeared on a big flat-screen TV. She introduced herself, reviewed all my eye images remotely (technology is wild), and had Elle run through the familiar "1 or 2? 2 or 1?" test using the refractor machine. Apparently, the doctor was adjusting it remotely. Ten minutes later, the exam was done. The doctor reviewed my results and confirmed that my eye health looked great--just a slight change in prescription. Wrap-Up Elle walked me back up front, Tuesday processed my $10 copay, and handed me my new prescription. She also broke down what my insurance covers versus out-of-pocket costs for new glasses. Overall: a great experience. Smooth, friendly, and efficient. Telehealth for an eye exam, who knew it could actually work so well?

This is a no frills vision shop and with my insurance was $71 for both exams. The frames are thoughtfully organized but the selection is limited.
