Covid safety protocols were followed. We were the only two in the store. We were asked to leave all items we touched on the counter so they could be properly sanitized and returned to the displays. Hubby wanted a new pair of sunglasses. Thankfully he knew what he wanted so he tried them on, they fit and there were no sunglasses to sanitize and return to the display.

Scratches on the lens that the staff couldn't remove, but accused me of lying about.

Made the mistake of purchasing a pair of expensive Persol glasses off the shelf and, with a 3 year old in hand - wasn't able to closely look as they were packaged up. I had assumed that we would end up with a new pair, free of any flaws. When I noticed the scratches and that they weren't just dust spots and couldn't be removed, we came back into the store and asked for a straight exchange. The staff working in the store that evening said there was nothing they could do other than offer a 50% refund on a new pair. When I explained again that they were sold to me damaged, they suggested coming in on the weekend when the Manager (Rebecca) who's name was on the receipt as having sold them to us - would be in. On coming in today, I had the least professional experience in retail of my life, where Rebecca simply said said 'no' with a challenging look, and then gave me an incredibly rude attitude in that she didn't appreciate the accusation of having sold me damaged goods, and to go ahead and make a complaint to corporate and post a review... it "happens all the time and hasn't stopped people from buying here". What a terrible attitude: It's the customer's fault, how dare you accuse me of this, I'll keep selling glasses anyway. It's strange, too, how there's a reoccurring theme in many of the reviews on Yelp, where the same manager(s) have pure incredulity that someone would accuse them of selling damaged products and then refuse a refund... even though it's a documented behavior. If you have a chance to read this (and other reviews) save yourself a headache and buy elsewhere.

My favorite D&G shades was broken so I came here to see if they have the screw to fix it. The staff that helped me is accommodating enough to look through all the screws that they have and tried almost all of them into my sunglass. Unfortunately, they didn't have it but the effort that he put into helping me was worth 5 star! Now that's some great Customer Service!!!

My partner and I visited Lux Eyewear in Palo Alto because we needed a simple adjustment on my Matsuda glasses. Matsuda had recommended that we visit an authorized retailer for service, so that's exactly what we did. When we walked in, both employees were already assisting customers who had clearly been in the store before we arrived. We completely understood that and had no expectation of interrupting those interactions. We were greeted, told to look around, and happily did so while we waited. After spending some time looking through the Matsuda collection, it became obvious that we needed assistance. We waited. And waited. What was frustrating wasn't that the employees were already helping other customers--it was that over the next 15-20 minutes, there was never any effort to simply check in with us. At no point did anyone stop for 15 seconds to ask, "What brings you in today?" That simple question would have immediately told them whether they could help us, whether we needed to wait, or whether they couldn't assist us at all. Instead, we stood there for nearly 20 minutes with no idea whether anyone was ever going to acknowledge us. One employee repeatedly walked back and forth with the family she was helping, including bringing them directly over to the Matsuda display where we were standing. We actually had to move out of the way because they were looking at frames in the same area, but even then, there was still no acknowledgment that we had been standing there waiting. Another employee got up from her consultation and walked over to the printer. While she was up, she acknowledged another customer who was browsing glasses, chatted with him for a moment, got him what he needed from a drawer, and then walked back toward her desk. Her chair was positioned so that, in order to get back to it, she had to walk directly toward us. Instead of simply looking up and asking if we needed help, or even acknowledging that we were standing there waiting, she kept her head down, avoided making eye contact with us entirely, and went right back to what she was doing. Maybe there was another explanation, but in that moment it genuinely felt like she was intentionally avoiding us, and it was incredibly uncomfortable. Only after all of that did someone finally come over and say, "Thank you for being so patient. Go ahead and sign yourselves in just in case someone else walks in after you. I mean, I'll remember you were here, but just in case someone else walks in after you." After standing there for nearly 20 minutes, that was honestly the final straw. We decided to leave. I don't automatically jump to the conclusion that poor customer service is discrimination. In fact, I usually go out of my way to give people the benefit of the doubt. But as the only two Black customers in the store, watching everyone else receive attention while we went nearly 20 minutes without anyone making the effort to simply ask what we needed, we left feeling invisible and unwelcome. Whether that was intentional or not, that's genuinely how the experience felt to us. The irony is that we weren't even shopping. We already own Matsuda eyewear. We were simply trying to have a loose screw tightened on a pair of glasses that had been purchased as a Christmas gift. This should have been a quick conversation that took less than a minute to start. Luxury retail isn't just about selling beautiful products. It's about making every customer feel seen, acknowledged, and valued. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience at Lux Eyewear. We left disappointed, uncomfortable, and with no intention of returning.

Jeff and Rod are both amazing opticians who deliver white glove service when it came to getting a pair of classes that suited my needs, style, and face frame. When it came to selecting a pair of glasses I was looking for something that was bold, elegant, professional, but could also be used for driving/in the sun. It seemed like I was pursing four types of glasses, but they truly helped me narrow it down to one pair. I ended up getting a pair of designer sunglasses and they were able to order a pair of transition lenses and put them in. The turnaround time was about one week which was great! Store wise, Peninsula Optical is a bright, modern and very clean optical shop. They have a great selection of Cartier and Maui Jim. While I was in picking up my glasses, the Maui Jim representative came in to personally give them the newest styles, so they definitely have the latest and greatest. They also carry their own brand as well. For anyone coming here, do be prepared for street parking as the shop is located on University Ave. Lastly, if you need prescription glasses, make sure to bring your prescription as there is no optometrist.

I'm not sure why this place has high reviews but I had a ridiculously bad experience with this…read morestore. I had them make lenses for a frame I provided. The first time around they got the edge polish wrong (after 2 weeks of processing!). They had promised me matte and it came back glossy. I wore the glasses and was like whoa! Why's there's light shimmering all around my eyes? I gave it back to them, and grumpily the person said "ok we'll send it back". Then she informed me oh they don't even offer the matte finish! Then how come I was offered that in the first place? She had no idea. So she sends it back to change the finish to "satin". Well, a few days later they call me and say hey, we have to change the lens altogether, which will be another 2 weeks. Ok so after more than a month, I get my glasses back. They still feel shiny. But anyway, I get back to my life, but I keep feeling there's still some issue. I keep seeing reflections of stuff. And if someone takes pictures of me they see the flash instead of my eyes. What's going on? I finally figure it out - this lens doesn't have anti-reflective coatings. So I take it back to Cambridge. This time they say oh you declined anti-reflective. But the fact is I had shown them my previous glasses - which *do* have anti-reflective - and told them to make it the same way. They had taken a good look at it, and told me it had anti-reflective. Then why do they say I declined? Well who knows!!! Then they call me back again in 2 days and say hey you are out of our 90 day limit, so they won't do anything. They will neither fix the glasses nor refund the money. Later that afternoon I asked to speak to a doctor because a nearby optical store told me that their doctors will fix this issue for me even if the staff won't. Well, they wouldn't have a doctor speak to me. "They're busy". I have worn glasses for about 35 years of my life'. Gone through many frames and lenses. Not once did I have so much trouble with an optometry store. Not one single time. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Lots of good optometry stores in this area.
