Signed a contract for solar with back up batteries on November 8 with an approximate completion date of 12/30/25. We received our City final inspection December 21 of 2025. From the start of the project Marco delivered on everything he said would happen and jumped through plenty of hoops thrown at him from the City and SCE. In short, Sunko Solar and it's owner Marco Iwabuchi are amazing. I highly recommend you select Sunko Solar for your solar project. They are extremely knowledgeable, hard working, reliable, honest/trustworthy, great to work with, and very timely. Marco delivered our project on budget/in accordance with our contract and on time. From the day we started work, Marco and the crew finished their install and LADWP had us operational (i.e. - generating KWH from the solar panels) in about 2 weeks. Our project was particularly challenging because the largest roof area, where the greatest number of panels could be located, is north facing with a down slope. Nearly all solar companies I spoke to will only install panels on the roof following the slope of the roof. If our panels were installed that way, when the sun is in the southern sky providing max energy, the panels would not capture as much of the energy from the sun and the panels' KWH output would be significantly reduced. But Marco utilized a "reverse tilt" approach whereby the back, down slope edge of the solar panel is lifted 18" off the slope of the roof. This is critical to capture as much of the energy from the sun as possible and maximize the KWH output from those panels. Enclosed is a pic that demonstrates the "reverse tilt" feature we used on the north facing, down slope part of our roof (see middle left, tilt detail pic and lower right, side view of the house pic). Since July 20th through August 14th, we have been generating a daily average of 55 KWH per day. If you hire Sunko Solar/Marco to do your install, you will be extremely happy with the result. I purchased a house last year that already had solar panels installed and paid for. I really didn't know anything about how the system worked, I just assumed it did. In January, to my horror, I received an extremely high power bill which alerted me that something was wrong. Apparently my inverter had malfunctioned without my knowledge and my system had not been capturing sun power at all for months on end. I called Marco from Sunko Solar for help. He could not have been more helpful and truly went out of his way to resolve my solar problems. Marco and his worker came to my house at least 3 times to diagnose my system and basically fight tooth and nail over the phone with customer service and to finally get the manufacturer to replace their faulty non functioning inverter. You could tell he really cared and was not going to rest until the issue was resolved. It's been a month now and everything is working properly. I received my next power bill and this time it was miniscule. Did I mention Marco and his team fixed my issues at no charge? I cannot recommend him and this company more. My experience with Sunko Solar was surprising spectacular since they came knocking on my door one Sunday morning, waking up my dogs and two kids!! I answered the door to a young man named Marco who also happened to be the owner! He stated that he was in the area and previously installed solar panels in the neighborhood before, so this made me somewhat comfortable off the bat! They told me the amazing benefits of going solar and how it would be benefit my house and the environment! Since I drive a Tesla, I was always mindful of the eco friendly things in life! But when it come to solar panels in the past, I wasn't to sure about them!! So Marco informed me about Sunko solar, such as no upfront cost, 30% tax credit, a 25 year life guarantee, and I had full ownership of the solar panels. So I asked for his card, since I was running late for work and told him I would reach out to him via email. So I sent him information on my electric bill which was surprising high ($600 a month), so he sent back a proposal, on how much I could save monthly and which option would work best for me! The email was very super in depth about the perks of going solar, especially the savings I would receive immediately. So I emailed Marco back, stating which opiton I preferred and within the next day the solar panels were installed with no up front cost!! Sunko is amazing. I was told that I would have to put no money down and that is exactly what happened. The owner did 99% of the work getting the loan set up and approved, and the panels were up within a couple weeks of our first meeting. He had an electrician move our old, unsafe electrical box (we had been told by another contractor it needed to be replaced), and even communicated with Edison for us to make sure that everything went smoothly. So basically we had to do basically nothing, had to put no money down, our loan payment is about what it was to Edison, and now we are being kinder to the earth. Could not recommend more highly.
