I was given a basket to place my purse and sandals and covered with a large towel as a laid down in the dimly lit room. The only semi-complaint is that the music, though nice, was a bit loud. I'm sure if I would have said something they would have lowered it, but I was already settled and ready to go so I didn't . While my feet soaked in hot water, which I love, my head and neck were massaged. One hour goes by quickly and then I was ready to head out. Even when I told her I had arthritis to my lower back and I don't want her stepping on me, she stretched me and put her whole weight on my lower back. Then there was a period where she was working on my left lower leg and it just felt like she was just lightly rubbing on it as if like she's distracted on her phone or something. It was a good 5-10 minutes before I told her to move onto my feet. And whenever she put heavy pressure on me, I would tell her and she would just laugh and jokingly put super light pressure in response. I told her that if she is going to put pressure on my bones then it is going to hurt. She needs to learn to massage the muscles and not the bones. And that was not even the end of it, I planned to not give her any tips due to her poor performance today and when I went to go pay up at the front, I only paid for the massage session and gave no tips, I was attacked by the front lady saying that I never tip when I come, which was a complete lie. I have tipped many times before and this session with the masseuse was bad. This place craves for tips and is very rude when they give you poor performance and you don't give them any tips.

Let's just say that we enjoy Northern Thai as much as some of the massages we've had in Thailand. There are 4 options for massages - Thai massage which is stretching + massaging with no oil, Swedish which is a relaxing oil massage, Thai-Swedish a mix of the two, and Swedish deep tissue with oil and lots of elbow/forearm for pressure. At this point, I've had them all and highly recommend for starters the combination Thai-Swedish which is a nice mixture of assisted stretching into yoga-like poses with relaxing kneading/gliding of Swedish massage. The masseuses, though tiny in stature, pack a lot of strength and are able to expertly navigate the tight spots that need the most attention. One nice bonus is that they also have heated massage table pads which felt extremely nice during this cold winter afternoon. Be sure to call ahead for an appointment. I've hardly had issues getting a same day appointment. The only negative about Northern Thai is that they have noisy barber shop neighbors, so I recommend ear buds or plugs so that you can really enjoy the massage in peace.
