In both cases I was amazed at how well the therapists listen, their ability to respond to what works and what doesn't, their gentle massages and their clear communication. Getting good PT is not only about the knowledge of the therapist but also about their ability to listen carefully and adjust the plan based on what does and does not work for the individual. I found that both Chelsea and Ayanna were excellent! However, I would not recommend Kirsten, who was more interested in being the expert than in listening to the patient.

I went to Kaiser and they made sure it wasn't a stroke or anything really serious. The Dr. said I had Vertigo (something about crystals in the ear out of place) and said she could send me to P.T. there but that they were not very good treating it at Kaiser. I already knew that because my mother and another family member had been treated there for the same thing. both got a sheet of paper showing exercises they could do at home and not much more. Anyway she recalled a presentation she attended previously by DR Will Bernaldo with Empower Rehab and suggested I might give him a call. I did and had an appointment the next day. This was outside of Kaiser so not covered by insurance for me, and I won't quote his prices but it wasn't as much as I expected. The time he spent doing the diagnosis and some therapy was probably 90 min or more, I walked out way better than I walked in, aggressively followed his at home therapy instruction and two days later 100% cured. I arrived early, around 7:30 and checked in with the young man at the desk and took a seat in the lobby. After 10 minutes or so I was led into the room. I apologize for not remembering their names, but all of the nurses and the technician running the giant imaging machine were all so kind and friendly. The procedure from start to finish took about 15 minutes. As stated, my appointment was originally scheduled for 8:15. I was in my car leaving at 8:15! They got me in early and were so quick and efficient. A really nice experience.

When we get a call from a nurse and set up an appointment for the following day and then she doesn't show or call, it's neglect. I had to change the bandage myself with the only set of supplies provided me by the wound center, so there is no coming back when you feel like it. My regular nurse, Mimi, has always provided excellent care. I had a problem with Maria day one. She didn't want to show at the time I requested and then didn't show at all on the day we scheduled. Very poor customer service and care.
