Colin Lang was a manspailner who insisted repeatedly that I had pins in my ankle even though I didn't. I ultimately took pictures of my X-ray to prove to him that he was incorrect. One PT ( I don't remember her name) spent my time with her addressing a knee injury,, but I had an ankle injury--she clearly hadn't read my chart. I could forgive this mistake the first time I worked with her, but she made the same mistake on my third appointment with her. PT only works if it's directed to the correct issue. The biggest problem: I am due a large refund because I reached my out of pocket maximum in August 2025, yet All Star has yet to repay me (it's August 2026). I have called repeatedly. I was told 6 weeks ago that a supervisor would call me within 24-48 hours, but I have yet to receive a call (that's about 2000 hours overdue). Every time I call to follow up, I'm told that I cannot be referred to a supervisor, but instead that I just have to wait until someone calls me. NO ONE has called me and I have not received a refund. I've been trying to get this refund for 6 months. There is no excuse for this.

I should have left this review months ago. Anyway, One day all the sudden I became dizzy and had…read moresuch a loss of balance I could barely walk without a wall or railing to hold onto. I went to Kaiser and they made sure it wasn't a stroke or anything really serious. The Dr. said I had Vertigo (something about crystals in the ear out of place) and said she could send me to P.T. there but that they were not very good treating it at Kaiser. I already knew that because my mother and another family member had been treated there for the same thing. both got a sheet of paper showing exercises they could do at home and not much more. Anyway she recalled a presentation she attended previously by DR Will Bernaldo with Empower Rehab and suggested I might give him a call. I did and had an appointment the next day. This was outside of Kaiser so not covered by insurance for me, and I won't quote his prices but it wasn't as much as I expected. The time he spent doing the diagnosis and some therapy was probably 90 min or more, I walked out way better than I walked in, aggressively followed his at home therapy instruction and two days later 100% cured. Worth every penny and more. I recovered way faster than my other family members did without him. A big thank you to DR. Will G.Drake

Kha has been instrumental in helping me regain mobility, stability, and flexibility in my ankle and…read morefoot! What initially manifested as plantar fasciitis also stemmed from ankle weakness and stiffness, likely from prior sprains and other injuries that had gone unaddressed. Through our sessions, I've gained invaluable insights into the interconnectedness of my body. Kha is not only passionate about his work but also excels at explaining complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner. One of the most significant breakthroughs was his identification and treatment of my pelvic tilt, an issue I had struggled with using other approaches. I'm thrilled to say that after working with Kha, I feel more balanced and stable in my own body than I ever have, and the SI joint discomfort that bothered me for over 20 years has completely disappeared. Overall, I am incredibly grateful for the comprehensive approach Kha has taken with my treatment, which has also included manual modalities such as cupping. Thanks to Kha, I feel empowered to maintain my progress with the stretches and strengthening exercises he's taught me to keep my hips, feet, and ankles agile and strong. I also want to give a shoutout to Giulia and Susana--they are also awesome and have made scheduling, coordinating with insurance, and payments seamless. I would enthusiastically recommend Renew Physical Therapy - Mira Mesa to anyone in need of PT!

I was a returning patient to this clinic after about two years, but because of the gap in care I…read morecame back as a new patient. My previous visits were for pelvic floor therapy during pregnancy. This time I came in for an acute lower back injury. The morning I called, I explained that I was in significant pain and asked if there were any same-day openings. I also specifically asked whether my evaluation would include manual therapy, since I had been told it would be an evaluation appointment. I was told yes. This is the third physical therapy clinic I've been to over the last four years, so I have a good basis for comparison. During my previous pelvic floor therapy at this clinic, I often felt that appointments were rushed. There were multiple occasions when my therapist was running behind because they were still treating another patient. While I completely understand that schedules can get delayed, my sessions still ended at the originally scheduled end time instead of extending to make up for the late start. As a result, I frequently felt like I received less treatment time than I was scheduled for. I overlooked that at the time because I was pregnant, exhausted, and didn't want the hassle of finding another physical therapist. I also genuinely liked my therapist. Unfortunately, my recent evaluation reinforced those same concerns. The evaluation lasted roughly 45 minutes. Based on my experiences at two previous PT clinics, as well as conversations with other offices, I expected a new patient evaluation to be around 60-90 minutes and to include both assessment and some form of treatment when appropriate. During the appointment, the therapist asked me to lie on my stomach. I explained that the position was too painful because of my back injury and asked whether manual therapy could instead be performed while I was lying on my side. She agreed and performed some assessment, but no manual therapy or soft tissue work was provided. When I rolled over to get up, I was told the session was over. I was surprised and asked about the manual therapy I had specifically called to ask about before scheduling. I was told that I had not wanted to lie on my stomach. That explanation was disappointing because, at my previous PT clinics, both therapists routinely adapted treatment when my pain prevented me from lying prone. They performed manual therapy with me on my side without issue. During severe flare-ups, they also incorporated gentle soft tissue work along with heat or ice when appropriate to help reduce pain enough for me to begin exercises. None of that was offered during this visit. Financially, this was especially frustrating. I paid $150 toward my PPO deductible for what felt like a very brief evaluation with no hands-on treatment. Even if my out-of-pocket cost had been much lower, I still would have left feeling disappointed because my concern is the quality of care, not simply the price. I was also surprised to learn that the clinic now charges an annual membership fee (implemented in March 2026) in addition to accepting insurance. Since I wasn't sure whether I would even return after my evaluation, I questioned why I would pay an annual fee before deciding whether to continue care. The staff kindly waived the fee for my first visit, which I appreciated, but I still don't agree with the concept of requiring an annual membership for in-network physical therapy services. Overall, I left feeling that I did not receive the level of evaluation or treatment I was led to expect, especially after specifically asking in advance whether manual therapy would be included. I want to emphasize that my therapist was kind and professional throughout the visit, and I have no doubt she genuinely cares about her patients. My review is not about her as a person. It's about an experience that consistently felt rushed--both during my previous course of pelvic floor therapy and now during my evaluation for an acute back injury. Based on my experiences, I cannot recommend this clinic.
