Everything is also very nicely cleaned, prepped and refrigerated. But the best part of all is how deliciously amazing everything tasted! From the tomatoes, to the onions, to the lettuce and more, I couldn't believe how fresh and how everything really tasted like a vegetable! They also have a huge selection and a variety of butchered meats

Each time we visit Lopez Island we make sure to drive over to the Horse Drawn Farm's farm stand,…read morelocated down a long gravel road off Port Stanley Road. Horse Drawn offers an impressive variety of seasonal vegetables as well as meats (frozen) and, when you get lucky, eggs. Everything they sell is absolutely first rate. Much to their credit they work on the honor system. Prices are clearly marked. You take what you want from the display cases or freezers. Weigh your produce on the scale. Record the amounts on the clipboard. Add it up on their calculator. Pay by cash or check. We first encountered them years ago at Lopez Island's Saturday farmers market. Since then whenever we're on the island we frequent their farm stand. When you consider that they plow their fields using non-fossil-fuel-powered farming methods -- teams of actual plow horses, as their name suggests -- you feel genuinely happy purchasing and consuming their food. They're part of what makes Lopez Island a wonderful place to visit.

OMG this place is out of my expectation! There are cats and deer and sheep!…read more We booked this campsite on the same day we arrived on Lopez island, kind of hectic but everything worked out well. It's only a 5 minute drive from the ferry, very convenient and easy to access. Even though our campsite 11 was the one closest to the road, but after dark it wasn't noisy at all, until half past six in the morning when visitors are coming from the ferry again. I slept well here. The ground was dry and clean, there weren't slugs sprawled on the tarp like butter spread on bread the next morning. The picnic table and two Adirondack chairs were in good condition, so we didn't use our camping chairs at all. There were several clean bathrooms with hot water and hair dryers in the campground, this is really a bonus for me when it comes to summer camping. I spent some time playing with the two lovely farm cats, Nori (the short tail) and Kombu (the long tail). Both of them are kind of aloof, not the most affectionate ones, but you know, they are cats and that' why we love them. I'd say the price for tent camping was slightly higher than Odlin Park's, but based on my experience and the campsite quality, I think it was totally worth it.

The cottages are Scandinavian in style and thus very simple and clean and elegant. Very quaint. A perfect, quiet place to get away or even work remotely. Definitely a place I'd come back to any day of the year.

I couldn't in good faith give Horseshu a glowing review or recommend it to friends or family…read moredespite the fact that the owner was perfectly lovely to us and even extended a 5% discount on our beginner's forest ride. The resources and the good intentions are definitely there at Horseshu. That being said, I had a several expectations that were not met. I feel that a beginner's ride should include a quick 5-10 minute safety overview before riding, an explanation of what the ride will consist of (i.e. "We will ride around the arena for 5 minutes until you feel comfortable, then head out to the trail for one hour, then circle back to this arena."), some time getting to know the horses and being introduced to their names and personalities, time for photos in the woods, and a partially-narrated tour with information about local flora and fauna. None of these amenities expectations were met, much to my disappointment. Therefore, I feel that the ride was not a good value. Our guide was callous and resentful. He used curse words several times which for me was not a big deal, but if I had been visiting with my family (and/or children) it would have been distressing. It's possible I caught him on an off day. I had to ask for nearly everything including just getting the name of the horse I was riding.
