    Alpaca feeding
    Victoria S.

Cute stop to feed alpacas and pigmy goats. A small bag of feed runs $6 and will provide lots of enjoyment, at least for us! The shop has lots of alpaca items and of course, prices are expensive.

At least two dozen beautiful alpacas cooling off under a shady tree. Wish we had some shade or we could get closer to pet & touch them. Since we are from a warm climate we don't need to look at alpaca closing and gift items in the shop.

This was such an unexpected treat on the island. It was a hot day, and we were trying to take in all the sights. We stopped in, and it was such an idyllic, peaceful spot. Beautiful views and the alpacas were grazing. If you buy a bag of little pellets from the gift shop for $6, the alpacas will come right up and nuzzle them right out of your hand. They are so sweet and adorable. We really loved it, and it was definitely a highlight of the trip for our teenaged daughter.

When we visited, the alpaca what fresh haircuts from just the day before. The alpaca were adoooooorable. They mostly roll and mosey around and chomp clumps of grass. A very cute and relaxing sight! I think we even heard a couple of them hum, which is apparently something they do when they're happy, like cats purring. A couple alpaca almost got close enough to touch - so tempting. No dogs are allowed on the property, which makes sense since alpaca are sensitive prey animals. The property is not large though, so we felt safe leaving our pup in the car with the windows cracked while we walked around. This was a fun stop!

Did you know that Alpacas are native to South America and raised for their luxury fiber? Their fiber is sheared about once a year in the summer time and they have the widest range of natural colors of any animal (twenty-two!). They feel soft and fine like cashmere, warmer than wool and each alpaca provides for about 6 pounds or so of fiber! There are millions of them in Peru and in the same species as camels and llamas. The fun part of the quick stop is seeing them up close. They are calm creatures that just one of the most unique I have encountered. You can feed them grass and pet them. As for the store, yes the clothes are high priced but you get quality materials. When buying, check to see is made of the premium material called baby alpaca as they are finest they offer. I like the fun gift items like the finger puppets or alpaca stuffed dolls.

Review based on the Alpacas only, not the store This place has around 100 Alpacas, very nice atmosphere and kept neat. Along with camels and llamas, alpacas are classified as camelids. Very beautiful place and must visit if you are in San Juan Island

Alpacas were adorable, one side is girl and the other side is filled with boys. We did not feel welcome here at all. Owners were unfriendly and had that smirking face to every visitor during our visit. Everything is on the pricey side but it's reasonable for a local business. Their products seem okay so far.

Think the acres was my favorite thing I came across on FH. A scenic drive not too far from the port, then spotted... ALPACAS!! I really like animals, any really, so getting to go up and beings so close to so many was exciting! You are provided a pathway and they can roam to you but usually keep their distance. Small store with alpaca wool goods to check out as well.

I was excited to come here and see the alpacas! I was shocked to see how expansive the farm is - they own a lot of land here and the alpacas have plenty of room to run around. They also have more alpacas than I even could have imagined, in all sorts of colors and sizes. When we came over the weekend, it appeared that they had been pretty recently shorn, as you could pretty much see the lines from where they had cut off the wool. They were pretty cute with their short fur. They were more than happy to deal with photo takers and many of them rolled around on the ground or played. Good stop for a photo op and likely a good place to take kids as well. You can walk around the entire farm and see all of the alpacas. They even had a maternity area, though we didn't wander down towards that field. The items in the store are neat, but you almost don't want to touch them because the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. A simple wool hat was between $40-50 dollars! If you keep this in mind before you enter the store, it can be fun to browse and look at the items they have for sale. A fun stop not too far from the English Camp or Roche Harbor!

He picked us right outside our ship, took us to the Castle before anyone else was there, the Government House gardens & Christ Church Cathedral. Followed by a scenic drive to Butchart Gardens; where we spent the rest of the afternoon. He also arranged for the tea and lunch service at the gardens using his member discount. It was completely wonderful! The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. We did offer for him to have lunch with us but he insisted on waiting so we could have some time to ourselves. After tea, he walked around the gardens with us, happily taking pictures and giving us interesting info. At our request, he dropped us off at the Fairmont Empress around 4pm. We walked around a bit and then took a cute little water taxi back to the ship. I highly recommend this tour if you have 2-3 people and want to get a lot done in a short amount of time. Kevin is very friendly and knowledgeable. Oh and of course, the car is amazing! We'd love to tour with Kevin again in the future!

There's paths to walk, shaded picnic areas to hide under on hotter days, and over 200 animals and birds to view. Horses, cows, chickens, peacocks, potbelly bigs, rabbits, oh and... a ton of goats. One of our favourite parts is the "petting zoo" area where you can get up close and personal with goats who love scritches. The farm hands are friendly, handwash stations are available, and parking is free. What's not to like about this place? I find it very relaxing to be amongst the animals and on a farm when most of my time is spent in the city or glued to a monitor. It really puts things in perspective. In any case, I think it's worth a couple hours of your day to stop by and say hello to some majestic animals.
