There's a decent clip of parking out front, but fair warning - you do have to walk from the car to get to the front. Despite not having a reservation they made it work - hooray! We ordered a dozen of the little olys (only oyster local to WA state), the special salad they had that day, and the bread with sardines and salmon spread. We also got a grilled oyster sampler platter. For drinks, missus ordered the lemonade and I ordered an Arnold Palmer. The bread and oysters came super fast - like within 10 min of us ordering. The panzanella salad ($20 special) was the highlight for missus and myself. For oysters, the little olys were disappointing, salmon dip was really good, as were the anchovies (we got more bread too). We also ordered a half dozen oysters of the high beach sweets since everything was awesome so far. The service staff here are excellent. They checked on us often, cleared plates when things got full, and never over pressured for ordering or timing. We basically finished ordering and eating within an hour. The ambiance is incredible - you have a beautiful water view. If you don't like views, don't come here! The only downside here is the price (which makes sense). Everything priced on its own felt reasonable, but altogether the portion sizing (Olys were a good example) is a bit small, as was the panzanella salad (which makes sense, but also for $20...?). The high beach sweet oysters were definitely better value - for size and cost reasons. Overall a great meal, decent vibes, and a nice view.

To start, the bed and breakfast feels like you stepped out of reality and into the movie "The Holiday." It is cozy, quaint, and quiet in the best way. The rooms are smaller but equipped with what you need. In addition to the ambiance, the breakfast stands out as a highlight. From staying in other BnB's we expected danishes, coffee, etc. They far exceeded those expectations making easily the best quiche I've ever had, apple crumb cake, homemade rhubarb jam and butter and homemade focaccia. I woke up not hungry and ended up eating everything it was so delicious. My only regret of the weekend was booking an early ferry and not being able to enjoy breakfast the second morning. I hope to return one day!

The walking trail on site took you on a nice path along the tree line and the blackberry bushes were taller than me. Rooms were cute and very sound proof, we heard no one else when we were in the room. A cute farm store was there for some basic needs as well. Our hosts Emma and Wiley were so helpful and kind. If you're visiting the Seattle area, the island and this wonderful place are worth the day (or overnight or weekend) trip via the ferry! Go for the photo opp and the heavenly scent and stay for the snacks…read more The farm came highly suggested on a few travel blogs and I can't resist a stunning photo opp. The farm is really easy to find and is listed on Apple Maps. The moment you get out of the car your nose is tickled with the delicate and subtle lavender scent floating through the air. It's pure heaven. You can either pick your own or cruise around the farm. We loved seeing all the happy, fuzzy, fat bees pollinating and living their best bee lives. Not to worry bumble bees don't sting and left us alone completely. After getting some instagram-able photos we popped into the shop. If the budget had allowed I would have purchased one of everything. We ended up with dog treats and linen spray. The candles and the berry compote are next on my list. The back patio is not to be missed. They have stunning lavender plants in many sizes for purchase as well as fresh made snacks. We tried the lemon lavender sorbet and the lavender lemonade. Both were amazing and not overwhelmingly floral. It was a warm day and these were refreshing ....... And devoured. They are sheared every may and their wool is then turned into all manner of high quality textiles. You are able to feed the alpacas as long as you stay within the posted guidelines. These are very shy animals but will come to you if you offer the feed that is prescribed by the farm. They have plenty available in the gift shop. ....speaking of which, there os a very nice array of assorted alpaca wool items. I picked up a really nice pullover sweater that felt so luxurious that I didn't want to take it off, so I bought it and left it on. The Mrs picked up some nice alpaca wool socks and some notecards. Others in our group bought some skeins of wool for knitting and an interesting item I never heard of before. It was a bar of soap that is embedded in some form of a wool cocoon. You just use it in the shower as a combination soap a d washcloth. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and clean. The staff is very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

We didn't need reservations, we were able to get helped and seated right away. The two hosts were helpful and friendly. They don't offer food, so you are able to bring your own. Pets were allowed, they even had a dog bowl available. Seating was all outside, some covered, some not, and heaters were available.

The resources and the good intentions are definitely there at Horseshu. That being said, I had a several expectations that were not met. I feel that a beginner's ride should include a quick 5-10 minute safety overview before riding, an explanation of what the ride will consist of (i.e. "We will ride around the arena for 5 minutes until you feel comfortable, then head out to the trail for one hour, then circle back to this arena."), some time getting to know the horses and being introduced to their names and personalities, time for photos in the woods, and a partially-narrated tour with information about local flora and fauna. None of these amenities expectations were met, much to my disappointment. Therefore, I feel that the ride was not a good value. Our guide was callous and resentful. He used curse words several times which for me was not a big deal, but if I had been visiting with my family (and/or children) it would have been distressing. It's possible I caught him on an off day. I had to ask for nearly everything including just getting the name of the horse I was riding.
