I was visiting and my daughter lives within miles of this golf course…read more I set up a few private lessons with Matt Sheehan and also played 9 holes. In my opinion this is a hidden gem! The course is lush with beautiful mountains and rolling hills. 5 Tee's for all levels. The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Loved the range and the chipping/putting area. My lessons were fantastic. I have been playing a few years and Matt made things simple and has a great presence and personality. I feel like I learned so much in the 2 hours we had together and the price was very reasonable. He gave me so much information I had to write notes in my phone afterwards so I wouldn't forget!! If they can build some condo's in the area for visiting golfers I think this club will be a great golf destination! This review was for the golf course only. I did not visit the restaurant.

The last two times we've gone to get food afterwards, the restaurant has been closed due to an event happening. We were told that we could get hot dogs if we were hungry. We left. I understand they're under construction, but if their restaurant already cannot handle the customers from the golf course and for the events they will cater, then why are you expanding?! This used to be the golf course we would always drive to and/or take visitors to when we played. I will consider other courses from here on out. Very disappointed lately. The new golf carts also do not let you drive anywhere on the course. We don't recklessly drive on the course, but the carts actually slow the rate of play. It's awful and frustrating.

Ok, I'll start out by saying I have never once played golf here. So, my review might not "work" for…read moregolfers. However I have attended a few events here. Most notably the 4th of July fireworks and food trucks etc. The golf course is basically my back yard, but I still haven't swing any clubs here - I'm more of a casual Top Golf guy lol I do have friends though that golf almost daily, and neighbors that do as well and take advantage of the courses proximity to our new homes. They all swear by it and love it. Probably one of the better courses in El Paso - because I have friends deep on the West Side that still make the track over here to play 18.

I CAME WITH NO CLUBS TO PLAY AND MY BOYFRIEND WAS ONLY IN A GROUP WITH A FATHER AND SON (meaning he got a cart to himself anyway). With an establishment that was recommended by pretty "high name" people of the city, I'm surprised to see Painted Dunes making visitors pay a WHOLE cart fee just to spend time with their significant other, when there was room in the first place to accommodate. Also, another note, I came LATE because I was waiting for my boyfriend to let me know if he'd get his own cart anyway. I found my boyfriend at hole 5 and was tracked down at hole 7 being told to pay. MONEY HUNGRY behavior.

Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course - They should fill this back up. It looks bad when it's this low.

Well this was an experience, first I understand that golf in the winter is different no matter…read morewhere you are but I don't understand why the course is in such bad shape. The fairways are pretty much dirt covered by patches of long crabgrass. And if you miss the fairway good luck hitting off anything but hard compact dirt. By the condition of the greens I know that they know how to take care of a course, the greens where excellent for this time of year. Smooth fast and very well kept. Of course they had dead spots but even those weren't that bad. The greens are why this is a 2 star and not a 1 star review. I paid for 18 but only played 9 because it just wasn't enjoyable to be hitting off dirt and bare grass patch's. For the so called "best course in town" I expected more. Update found out I played the short course instead of the full 18 hole course, maybe the full course is better but no help from the front staff or any signs indicating the different courses. Very confusing

Ascarate Golf Course is good for your money. Its an affordable course to enjoy and better your game…read morebut in a way what makes it affordable is that the course itself is relaxed and not perfectly trimmed. The course is old and ran down yet players spirits keep it positive. The restrooms smell, the grill takes longer than usual to serve your food. The snacks cart only sells beer. (No spirits) but overall good costumer service.
