The course is lush with beautiful mountains and rolling hills. 5 Tee's for all levels. The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Loved the range and the chipping/putting area. My lessons were fantastic. I have been playing a few years and Matt made things simple and has a great presence and personality. I feel like I learned so much in the 2 hours we had together and the price was very reasonable. He gave me so much information I had to write notes in my phone afterwards so I wouldn't forget!! If they can build some condo's in the area for visiting golfers I think this club will be a great golf destination! This review was for the golf course only. I did not visit the restaurant.

The last two times we've gone to get food afterwards, the restaurant has been closed due to an event happening. We were told that we could get hot dogs if we were hungry. We left. I understand they're under construction, but if their restaurant already cannot handle the customers from the golf course and for the events they will cater, then why are you expanding?! This used to be the golf course we would always drive to and/or take visitors to when we played. I will consider other courses from here on out. Very disappointed lately. The new golf carts also do not let you drive anywhere on the course. We don't recklessly drive on the course, but the carts actually slow the rate of play. It's awful and frustrating.

With an establishment that was recommended by pretty "high name" people of the city, I'm surprised to see Painted Dunes making visitors pay a WHOLE cart fee just to spend time with their significant other, when there was room in the first place to accommodate. Also, another note, I came LATE because I was waiting for my boyfriend to let me know if he'd get his own cart anyway. I found my boyfriend at hole 5 and was tracked down at hole 7 being told to pay. MONEY HUNGRY behavior.

The set up is rolling hills and too many traps. Shooting an eagle followed by a shot that caused amateur golfers to cringe in terror is beyond making sense. What on earth were they thinking sticking a 6 foot rolling hill in front of a lake on the 18th hole. How us anyone supposed to make that shot when you can't see the flag. Carts are something else nice she clean but so behind technology it makes you want to cry. Even university has tv screens and tracking for other carts. How are you going to advertise country club with no technology when the technology is better at the school run course ?????? Pro shop is a vast disappointment. There are about 30 items in it well over priced. No head covers, accessories, and very limited selection. Grill in the clubhouse is sad and I will review it separate. Beautiful to look at but not easy to play.

I have been golfing for some 35 years and have 'never ever' seen a golf course more poorly managed…read more 'Cart Path ONLY', course in terrible condition, sand traps dont have any sand, Muddy (standing water), but the worst of all was one of the grounds keeper lawnmowers wouldn't stop cutting the green we were playing on. We yelled at him to stop as he was getting closer and closer to us (within 6'), when he stated 'No, I can't stop'!!! Before he got any closer, I threw the flagstick down in his path at which time he finally stopped. We proceeded onto the next holes tee box on which the same groundskeeper raced past us, coming within 12" of one of us standing next to our cart, risking great bodily harm. He proceeded to our green, removed the flag and began cutting the green so we couldn't play. We called the office and explained what was happening and they basically just apologized!!! This kid was on a 'bender' or something!!! We had no conversation with this kid prior to any this, so there was nothing that could have occurred for him to behave so inconsiderately and dangerously. While they did refund us most of our money at the end of our round of golf, the point of the whole thing was 'lost on me'. I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN TO SONOMA RANCH GC!!!
