Went to hit a bucket of range balls today at Sonoma Ranch and it was a disappointing experience. Went in the golf shop to purchase a medium bucket, anywhere else it would have been considered a small or even an extra small bucket. They charged $10 dollars for the bucket, even the balls were substandard, old and beat up. The condition of the range was deplorable, tall grass and weeds prevalent, not mowed grass. The worst sand bunkers I have ever seen. Pretty bad when the bunkers have more grass than sand. Not a good value at $60.

I was really disappointed with this place. The lunch menu had very few options, and I expected a high-quality experience since I filtered for pricier restaurants to treat my family to something nice. Unfortunately, this did not live up to that at all. When I brought it up, the staff said dinner is better, but honestly, I doubt it. If you're looking for a real dining experience, you're better off going to El Paso. Las Cruces just doesn't have many good options. read more

I would love to give it more than 3 stars because there is a lot to like including a good course layout (desert scrub is prominent), some good views of the surrounding area, reasonable green fees, good food at the Sunset Grill - my breakfast burrito with eggs, potatoes, chorizo and green chile sauce was delicious - and a fantastic staff who were very friendly and accommodated us when we requested to adjust our tee time; however, while the fairways were generally in good shape, most of the tee boxes and some of the greens definitely need some TLC. The starter - super nice guy - indicated the course was in the process of being managed back into better shape. I will definitely plan to play again if I'm in the Las Cruces area; I look forward to seeing the course in better shape. read more

One of the worst golf courses to play at. The only thing good was the staff was friendly and the green were in decent shape. Overall tee boxes were dirt and uneven. The fairways was mostly dirt. The biggest problem with this place is it is not taken care of and with that comes overgrown areas with standing water. I don't think I was able to take a shot without hitting 10 mosquitoes on each leg. This was by far one of the least enjoyable round of golf I have ever played. Didn't even finish 18 from having 50 bug bites on each leg. Will never come here again. read more

I went in over the weekend, never having been to the course. I walked in around 8:40 am, the younger gentleman behind the counter was on the phone. He didn't acknowledge my presence or even look at me. I waited over 14 minutes until an other staffer entered the office. He spoke with me and the younger staffer spoke to him but never looked at me even though I had paced through the pro shop for more than 25 minutes. I have never had such rude behavior from any pro shop I have visited in 15 yrs. I will not patronage this golf course ever again. read more

I've only attended holiday work parties at this place and always whatever they catered to us, the food is phenomenal. It's been awhile since I've had steak and surprisingly we were serve prime rib and it was outstanding. Of course the best when it's cooked medium rare and smothered with horse radish. On top of that, we were served salmon, breaded chicken , mashed potatoes, some kind of pasta dish and broccolini. Bomb bomb bomb. Still can't get over how good that prime rib was. The best part was, it was free , paid by the work company ! But I do someday would love to spend my own money here, which I did at the bar. Of course at every work holiday party you gotta hit up the bar. That's always the fun part. Never have not played golf here but definitely food is amazing. read more

I'm going to give them 3 stars but only because I think other places are worse and better. Sonoma ranch advertises country club style membership but the course is questionably crazy. The set up is rolling hills and too many traps. Shooting an eagle followed by a shot that caused amateur golfers to cringe in terror is beyond making sense. What on earth were they thinking sticking a 6 foot rolling hill in front of a lake on the 18th hole. How us anyone supposed to make that shot when you can't see the flag. Carts are something else nice she clean but so behind technology it makes you want to cry. Even university has tv screens and tracking for other carts. How are you going to advertise country club with no technology when the technology is better at the school run course ?????? Pro shop is a vast disappointment. There are about 30 items in it well over priced. No head covers, accessories, and very limited selection. Grill in the clubhouse is sad and I will review it separate. Beautiful to look at but not easy to play. read more

Lived here for 3 months while I was working in Las Cruces. Excellent in many ways, have had to call maintenance once, was promptly taken care of. Had to call for help from noise disturbance twice, was not taken care of. It was teenagers, so I don't expect much. The grounds are well cared for, the location is great, the amenities are excellent! Very secure, never felt unsafe, even as a single woman. Highly recommend and if I begin traveling again and am assigned in Las Cruces, THIS is where I want to live. :) read more

Not a bad little course for LC. This is a desert course that lacks any shade so try to get a tee time when it isn't too hot. There are some holes which require some thought and then other fairways which you could hit even with a shank. Kinda pricey for LC but they can get away with it because there are only a couple of local golf courses. read more

Nice course layout but the fairways need some attention from the grounds keepers. The most glaring problem with this course is the lack of drinking water. There were exactly zero water stations on the course. There was 1 guy driving around with a cooler - I saw him 3 times and he just drove past me twice. I have played this golf course since it opened and today was the worst round of the over 300 played. Pulled the flags on hole 16 in front of our approach shots at 5:40 over one hour before sunset. Other golfers and I approached the pro and he just said sorry after a five hour round with no Marshall. Totally unacceptable and see why this course continues to struggle.
