Fun little market, has a good variety of asian foods although you can't always find the same things when you go

I am looking for young garlic shoots to make twice pulled garlic pork. The nice person that helped me said it out of season/ which is why its hard to find. However, in my quest I did stumble upon this amazing HUGE market. Lots of happy music. Clean aisles and counters. Tons of produce. The seafood and meat counters were full of wonderful things that one cannot find at Kroger. (Like live blue crab, snapper,eel, chicken feet, pigs feet, etc. I will be back! read more

New discovery for us. It's in the same center as the Korean Restaurant Silla and located in the former Fresh Market. Unique fish options stood out for me; like live lobster, langostinos, and blue crabs. Meats were pork centric. Many egg options besides chicken eggs. Produce was sparse and not good looking. Of course tons of SE Asian canned and packaged options. Different brands than Saraga. Very nice kitchenware section. There are many Asian Market options in Columbus these days. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, Columbus, you keep sending me halfway around the world without a passport, and I couldn't be happier!! I found this WONDERFUL Asian market while spending some time in an area I really never knew all that well while I lived here, and now I'm already planning a return visit SOON!! Truthfully, I didn't NEED anything in this well-stocked hub of all things "exotic," but I just couldn't resist wandering the aisles and imagining myself in some far off land, with sights, tastes, and smells all so fabulously DIFFERENT from anything I could POSSIBLY find here, just to your west in the "Field of Springs." FULL of Asian families/college students stocking up on all sorts of goodies and staples. I was transfixed/easily amused!! I wandered the aisles, marveled at the fresh fruits and vegetables (nice, but have seen more in other markets...) and the 4-5 aisles of snacks alone kept me busy/tempted for probably close to 1/2 an hour. Their bakery is amazing, I chose some rolls/buns (pay separately) and wanted one of EVERYTHING!! There's so much here: oils, spices, teas, rice, noodles, meats, frozen goods... I managed to limit myself to some noodle/ramen packages, a few mochi treats, a bag of shrimp-flavored chips (YUM-O!!) baked goods (mmmm!) and some tea to cure just about everything that ails me!! I'll be back, next time I'm in the area, and hope to also try either the Korean or VERY authentic looking Chinese restaurant in the same shopping center. read more

I've been away from this side of town for a while so when I went to where CAM used to be I had to detour and find something nearby. This store is a cozy neighborhood-type grocer that caters to many of its patrons in the same or nearby zip code. There is a decent amount of everything you need in the Asian food fare but they do not have EVERYTHING. Certain bags of rice, mostly in large 20-30 lb. sizes, were available. The noodle aisle was limited, with a lot of a certain brand I wasn't aware of. The meats and seafood are general, with limited variety. Produce was pretty good. My previous review holds true for the most part, but out of respect for my fellow Filipinos: they no longer stock the good lumpia wrappers or a lot of other Filipino staples. They also used to offer homemade kimchi but no longer do. They were out of the one brand they had last time I went to, which was a big reason for my stop. Additionally, the reward system is so not worth it anymore. You used to receive a discount. Now, you just rack up points for these ridiculously unobtainable items. We give our phone number every time, because the reward cards are horrible quality and scratched up just from being in my pocket. read more

This supermarket has everything you could possibly think of ! And It is easy to navigate the store.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite place to shop!!! Every time I shop anywhere else I regret it!!! This shop used to be across the street in a much smaller location across the street with merchandise piled to the ceiling, and the new location is much more spread out and easy to navigate while still offering all the amazing produce at amazing prices as before!!! This location exists in the grocery triangle- there's a Kroger across the street and a Marc's right down the way, but seriously the difference between shopping at one of those places vs at sunrise is night and day!!!! We used to shop at saraga, but often ran into the problem that it is just SO big and every aisle kind of has everything, and because its so big and wonderful it's often PACKED-- with sunrise, it's smaller and feels more open because the layout is more spread out with lower aisles for better visibility- the organization is superb and the layout makes sense, and since the location upgrade the butcher/bakery/produce sections are everything you need for a weeks grocery shopping. Also, often people associate "specialty" shops for foreign goods to be more expensive, but genuinely it's much cheaper to do your shopping here- the prices are REASONABLE and they have fresh produce and meat at prices that actually make sense and even products like honey are like 5-10$ cheaper than Kroger across the street where you can't even find a decent soy sauce!!! Finally, the store is just super well kept and the staff are all very friendly and helpful, you can tell they're all working hard and they've always been very kind to us-- the people shopping there are generally just families doing their grocery shopping and such and the vibes are just less rushed and aggressive than the other places, and GOD the line moves so much faster than Marc's! I feel like I'm giving something away by telling everyone how amazing and superior this place is, but they deserve your business and you deserve this shopping experience! :D read more

So. I went to check the new Sunrise location out on opening day Probably not my best idea since it was pretty crowded and the shelves weren't full yet. Ok, good things first. Nice big building, well-lit and (for now) clean-smelling store. That will change once the wonderful fragrances of an Asian market begin to bloom. They also added a pop-up counter and takeout restaurant in the middle of the store with pho, dumplings and a few other dishes. Might be interesting to check out one day. Their seafood and meat service show more promise, some amazing live crab and lobsters today. The not so good. The selection of items sadly didn't seem any better than at the smaller store. At least for now. Actually there were plenty of products missing that I was hoping to buy including fresh rice stick noodles. The layout, while attempting to create some sort of flow, was still pretty chaotic. Better than the old store but if you need to ask yourself "why is this here?" then you know the same issues remain. Staff is still pretty aloof but I'm used to that at all the international groceries so no prob. Did manage to get everything on my list except for their fresh char sui. The couple ahead of me cleaned them out. Ugh. FOMO! Hoping their prepared food offerings increase. Their roasted duck is always good and there were dozens ready to fly into your mouth. Bottom line: while handy as an easy grab 'n go, this location will likely not scratch my grocery itch like Saraga, ParknShop or even Sunrise off Broad. With that said, it was opening day. Things will settle and they'll do just fine. Go give them some love! Got a packet of instant Ga' Rice Congee to which I added a healthy pinch of Chà Bông Heo đặc biệt (Pork Jerky Floss) for some authenticity. Wish I bought more. I am happy they have moved into a bigger space across from their old smaller space. They have it sectioned out for bakery and Roasted BBQ section. The seafood and meat selection is huge. There is a little noodle station in the middle of the market for you to order dumplings, dim sum, and noodles. I had the soup dumpling which was good and their beef noodles which was good. Small portions for a reasonable price. Only thing they should offer is drinks. Whether it is free water or tea would have been nice. Great place to shop for your Asian necessities and grab some to go food. read more

Japanese Kashi-pan (Danish Breads); this one is called wiener-pan OR sausage bread . A milk bread favorite of mine, you should try it if you haven't ! Employees were very friendly and the selection was great (they have items not carried at many Asian markets locally, so I was excited!) We tried the noodle soup to go and had no complains. Plenty of hot sauces- a whole aisle of sauces. But not a huge selection of ramen, compared to other Asian markets. I found some interesting ones, though. And not very many snacks. Not as expansive nor clean but has more Chinese grocery than the (Japanese) Tensuke market. Moderately priced, kinda stinks in the back where the fish are. Hooked on these $3.59 crab flavored sunflower seeds (no shell) which come with ~20 individual packets as if I had portion control to eat one at a time. read more

I have been to the sunrise Asian market in Hilliard once and was shocked by how disorganized and unclean it was. I decided to give the brand another chance by visiting this Asian grocery store, as there aren't that many international grocery stores in Columbus. I was surprised that it was better than the Hilliard one -- as least more organized. However, it was still not very clean. There were fly bodies in the bowls they were selling, and their bathrooms seems not sanitized very often. I would not recommend this grocery to people who care about their shopping experiences. However, they do have some unique food that is not sold elsewhere. read more

The selection as incredible. This is the biggest Asian market I have ever been to (I live an hour away, close to the Air Force base where the demographic is saturated with an Asian community and we don't have anything that compares to this market) I was impressed with the selection and diversity this market had to offer. The vegetables are great! Once I did get some soggy ones, but out of the dozens of times I've come they have otherwise kept very well and lasted a long time- amazingly affordable too! Great little dessert treats and the BBQ pork (char siu) is great! Sometimes I tend to get pretty fatty pieces cut for me though. When I bring my Chinese friend I tend to get better cuts of it. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Sunrise yet! After half a year of wandering around Columbus trying to find any market that sells vaguely Asian groceries, I've settled on Sunrise being my primary source of vegetables, noodles, frozen dumplings, sauces, and deli meats (when I say "deli," I mean whole cooked chickens and ducks with head and feet still attached, slabs of roast pork, skewers of barbequed meats... yum). The produce is less expensive than CAM, though the relatively low turnover (compared to, say, a busy Southern California market) means that it will be pretty picked over before the next shipment comes in. There is a good selection of dried and frozen noodles, including ramen-by-the-five-pound-box, chilled udon, lo mein, wonton noodles, and chow faan noodles. There is usually a good deal on frozen dumplings as well. I'm off now to make my weekly excursion! read more

Recently moving here, I've heard about CAM, Hong Kong Buffet, and Sunflower but people forgot to mention Sunrise. Kitchen area sells some of the best Chinese classics - roast pork, duck, BBQ pork, soy chicken. Roast pork - Best (or top 3) I've ever had. This is authentic Chinese food - being from LA I'd rather have this roast pork. The BBQ pork we had was a little too salty. It might have to do with the sauce on the pork and then sitting in the display all day. The duck is also good. Sticky Rice - try their peanut Sticky Rice. Keep in mind the above freshly sold Chinese food tend to sale out before closing so get there early enough in the day to guarantee your helping. Groceries - CAM and Sunrise directly compete on price so most things will be cheaper at CAM but a few are cheaper at Sunrise. I usually buy my greens from Sunrise because there is usually more on the shelf to choose from. read more

Pretty solid for an Asian market in Ohio! It's a bit small and doesn't have as many options, but the prices are acceptably reasonable, and they do have a sufficient selection of Asian veggies and treats. Best of all, they have a deli stocked with delicacies such as roast duck/pork/chicken, and bbq pork! I've only tried the bbq pork so far, but it was pretty good! I also sometimes grab small cold plates from their fridge up front (i.e. cold seaweed, pig feet, or tea eggs), which are a bit pricier but worth the convenience. I saw this being discussed on Yelp a few days ago and it perked my ears up, especially the part about the foods in the back of the store. They have a tremendous food selection and do a land office business. The section in the back is the real secret though. All types of fish and ducks hanging. Just like you'd find in larger locales. I would have bought one of the ducks but I really didn't have any idea on how I'd fix it. I'll have to leave that to my favorite Chinese restaurant. read more

Inquired about ordering 2 cases of product and was told it wasn't a problem and will be contacted after leaving number. No response until I went back in after 4 days. Was told shipment will be in on Friday and come back Saturday to make sure it was unloaded. Stopped in sat and none was delivered. Only got a sorry. You know that moment that they always have in movies? Where the hero/heroine reaches whatever it is they're trying to get and you see this halo of light and you hear the angels sing? OK, so that didn't really happen, but it was pretty close. The corner of this store that displays roasted ducks, chickens, and slabs of roast pork is the BEST thing about this place. It's a rather unassuming, simply grocery store that doesn't QUITE have the selection of CAM, but OH MY GOD that meat. Their selection of raw meats was impressive and looked to be good quality. They were doing a bustling business. But I immediately started salivating over that golden slab of pork. It was tender, juicy (which I'm sure had something to do with it being a pork belly with thick layers of fat), with an outer crisp skin. If you're one of those people that picks all the fatty bits off their meat, this isn't for you. Their pork has the perfect ratio of meat to fatty goodness... I would eat more if I weren't on a diet! I will be back to try the ducks and chickens. Language wasn't an issue - I always find myself in interesting situations as I AM Asian, but don't speak a lick of Mandarin/Cantonese. People will unfortunately assume that since you're Asian, you must speak all Asian languages. :-) I don't hold that against them. Columbus, has a pretty decent array of Asian grocers, but I like this one the best (so far). It's very conveniently located for me and despite it's relatively small size they have yet to lack an ingredient that I'm looking for. I love going in here and browsing the produce or meat counter for something new to try out. Everything is always fresh when I go in there (or in the case of some items I've never used such as pork uterus...appears fresh) Whether you're a chef or just a curious at home cook this is a great store to check out for your asian cooking needs. read more

Sunrise is a great option for Asian groceries! While the store is smaller than similar ones, like CAM, they pack a lot onto those shelves. There are plenty of options for all sorts of specialized ingredients, including sauces, spices, noodles, rice, and more. There is a small but loaded produce section, and, as others have mentioned, the meat area is amazing and drool-worthy! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are quite reasonable.
