This delivered, very difficult to find good Trini food in the DMV. Loves it all. Tasty, delicious and not overpriced I will be back for more.

So nice to say that there is a wonderful AUTHENTIC Trinidadian food spot just 5 minutes from home! I met some friends for dinner there a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVED the options. I would also like to add that they make their own pressed juices, included some ginger based juices! I had the straight up Ginger one - not too spicy and not bland either. Refreshing and delicious. They also offered a mix of meat-based and vegan/veggie options. I am not vegetarian but do not eat red meat - so I was curious about the Vegan BBQ Steak. I am so glad I did! It was AMAZING! The service was chill and so nice! :) I can't wait to come back!! Here is their menu for quick reference! Please order from it. You will NOT be disappointed! :) https://www.sunrisedccaribbean.com/menus

My issue is I like their food but this time the portions are a lil odd to me. If I order vegan curry chiken,, why is it in the side portion of the container? It really disappoints me. This is my second time and we ordered 4 plates and all were made like we ordered sides.

"Roti" and "Doubles"- I use these names VERY loosely

At heart, I'm a man that truly enjoy most Caribbean dishes ( oxtails, goat, curry/jerk chicken,…read moreroti, etc ) So, I set out on a quest to give a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant a shot at winning me over. That's when I bumped into Caribbean Dish... The name got me, yes it's basic, but the title was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food.... Caribbean Dish you just locked yourself in a loyal customer !!!!! Give them a shot and I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed !!!

I got the curry chicken buss up shut with a side of spinach. Huge portion! Curry is delightful, aloo is perfect, spinach, dope. Buss up shut, better than my Aunties, but don't tell her that...eek! I went…read moreto the website (https://www.sunrisedccaribbean.com/menus) listed on Yelp and Google and found that it was not up to date since it listed the vegan beef as being accompanied with ice cream (see picture). I called the restaurant to let them know about the error and inquire about the menu, so I could place an order. The man who picked up the phone literally laughed at me and said "I don't do online" and handed it off to someone else. The woman he handed to did not have a much better attitude. I shared the website menu issues and even took the time to send her the screenshots. I asked her if she could help me with a menu / offerings so I could place an order, and she said they were closing down. I reminded her that it's 7:23 PM and they don't close until 10:00 PM (per Yelp) or 8:00 PM (per Google). Her response was only that I could order whatever they have left, if I wanted to - verbatim. I wanted to ensure that I wasn't reading into it, and even said, "It doesn't sound like you want me to order", and she just said that it's up to me how I want to take it. =( The interaction was quite disappointing and far from welcoming, so regrettably, I will not be dining here and will check out other Caribbean restaurants in the area, like Teddy's and the Angry Jerk.

I decided to have a taste adventure and learn what a Jamaican Black cake was. Not a bad decision! Loved it. This cake tastes like Christmas! I'm thinking it's a dark rum that they use along with delicious fruits in the cake. You can really taste the marzipan, as well. How lovely! There is nothing plain about the unassuming Butter Rum cake. It is somehow flavorful, dense and rich while still maintaining a lighter flavor. Now onto the juices. Get them. Get 6. Get 12. We tasted the Pineapple Ginger. Meow meow meow meow meow. The Cherry Guava Ginger juice is so warming - ie ginger that brings much heat - and I love it. They have authentic Jamaican dishes here and I've tried and enjoyed the Chicken Roti long ago. I'd love to come back for the seafood dishes. They have many varieties of patties with coco bread. The beef patty with coco bread is the best amount of spicy heat for me. BTW, you could smell the curry all the way from the main road. I knew right away which restaurant that lovely smell was coming from. Their service was also fabulous with us. That's why they are 5 Stars.

You'd probably get better value ordering regular platters (based on sides and rice), but the combo was a good way to sample all of them for my solitary self. Food quality is definitely there in spades. The whole thing smelled delicious on the way up my elevator and it was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. The pilaf was just perfect to go along with the curries that I could not describe (but trust me, it was good).
