I felt like I was in Trinidad again! The setup feels very home like, and there are tons of photos of Trinidadian culture both inside and outside. We called ahead to be sure there was still Roti available and once we arrived it was made to order. The flakiness of the Buss Up Shot was a taste to remember, and the Dahl Puri was just as tasty! The Pholourie and tamarind sauce hit the spot, leaving literal crumbs in the dish! The server we had was very helpful and double checked our order to ensure we had all that we needed. I had heard so much about Caribbean Palace and after experiencing it for myself, it will definitely be my favorite go to.

I was in the area so I stopped in and got a couple of rotis. Good thing is they take cards, not just cash only anymore. As for my food, my taste buds were not satisfied. I asked for 2 chicken roti, mines barely had any chicken in it, mostly chickpea mixture.... my sons had no chicken and he said that his roti was dry. I dunno what's different as far as the staff and who's cooking, but something has changed.

$14 for roti with a light spread of shrimp curry lol. It was not like this in the years past.

The flavor is here with most dishes, but the portions have diminished. I got about .5 to 1c scoop of shrimp curry in my $14 roti. The rice and peas were not good and did not seem like they were made that day. This place doesn't seem to keep up the pre-pandemic quality. I will still go back and give them a few more tries.

Martha! Gangantha! Where are you? The folks you left in charge do not understand the assignment. I love, love, love the food but Lawd please miss me with the lack luster customer service, sterile ambiance and inconsistent execution. People does come from far to get a decent roti. Can we get reasonable hours of operation, an enthusiastic cashier, a little Soca, pan, Calypso tunes while we wait 45 mins for our food? We need to have a townhall, we want to speak to your business manager. How have we not invested in the interior or even expanded operations by now? I have a lot of questions. I personal have funded at least new seating and menu board via my roti purchases. At this point I'm willing to volunteer if that helps open doors at 11am or even take orders. I have a great smile and disposition. You can pay me in curry. Signed a hungry and disappointed roti lover. PS I'll be back.

I don't remember asking for hair in my roti.

As a Trini who has been coming to this place for yearssss it breaks my heart to have to leave such a bad rating but it is well deserved. My experience today at Caribbean Palace was not a good look and I don't think I will ever return to this establishment to give them any more of my money. I walked in, in the middle of a pandemic, to see the cashier had zero mask on. Not even on her chin. There was no mask in sight. Just about a 12 inch Plexiglas glass that served no purpose as virus particles don't simply travel in a straight line- they disperse into the air. I had to ask because I was both furious and curious. "Excuse me?" I started, "where is your mask?" "Right here," the cashier said, pointing to the folded mask on the counter behind her. As if it served some purpose on the desk rather than on her face. "Why aren't you wearing a mask? We are in the middle of a pandemic," I responded, stunned by her negligent response and laissez faire attitude. "Because customers can't hear me with it on." "I prefer to ask you to repeat things than get coronavirus." The exchange was absolutely absurd. And what was even more absurd was that she claimed she'd put her mask on... only to secure it to her chin- leaving her nose and mouth exposed for another 10 minutes before she slowly pulled it over her mouth- leaving her nose exposed. I asked to speak to a manager to which she replied "you'd have to wait." And surely I did. The manager took her good old time coming out but I was willing to stand there all day if I had to. If you've visited this place before you would know just how small the establishment is. In addition to which the tiny closet of a restaurant has little to no ventilation so my concern was through the roof with there being no strict enforcement of mask wearing for their employees. After a good 15-20 minute wait the manager popped out and our conversation was just as absurd as the one I had prior. I raised my concerns about the cashier not wearing a mask and she went through all the excuses in the book (though she managed to forget the one about customers not being able to hear to cashier). She said "she has trouble breathing with it on." to which I responded "then she shouldn't be here working because seems like she might be high risk for the virus." Then she asked me "if I ever cooked with a mask on?" to which I responded "she's not cooking she's out here cashing." It was very comical how this manager was grasping at straws rather than reassuring her paying customer that this won't happen again. There was a part in the conversation where the manage said something along the lines of caring for everyone to which I responded "clearly not if you are willing to put your customers in danger." I thought the worst of it was over- that was until I got home and found a hair in my roti. I guess they enforce hairnet wearing just as well as they enforce mask wearing. I'm attaching pictures for reference. A shame, as I feel as the quality of this place has dwindled over the years, but it's not my recommendation to eat here. I am hoping that after the pandemic another shop will come to rival this place as the only reason we've been forced to return has been due to the lack of options for Trinidad food in DC.

    Boneless Chicken Roti

Worth the Drive from Suitland. My grandpa is Trini so i decided to take a nice ride over here. I've heard this is the best place for Roti. I've been craving them lately and the other two i had one wasn't wrapped at all, the other was in a bowl and ... just no. A Roti is wrapped up. So i heard this place is the place to go for a proper Trini roti and one of the few places to get Trini food. I went to another place once and they were so expensive and the food wasn't anything to write home about IMO. We walked in and it smelled so good! No seating, this isn't a restaurant but more like a take away joint. I order a double, so good the bara (dough) was so soft and omg. It was just good! I ordered a boneless chicken roti. We also picked up shrimp, a combo, and a curry chicken dinner. All three came with rice and peas. I order Channa and potato for mine the combo and it was delicious. My only complaint is the dinner was a bit salty for me. The Roti was delicious and exactly what I needed at 18 weeks pregnant. I will always go back for the doubles and the roti!

I had to dig to find the barely meat in this roti. Very disappointing

I want to cancel my poop review. Although I wasn't happy with my food i went back and they were apologetic and gave me a new one.

For those who don't know, Flavor Hive is a halal truck that will either give you a tray or stuff your bag of chips, fries, pizza, or anything you bring to them. It fascinated me having a Caribbean version of that as an option. It's downtown Silver Spring, but it wasn't hard to find street parking. That construction is starting to become cumbersome, though. I stepped inside and was surprised by how empty it was. And yes, items like jerk chicken, plantain, and cabbage were options to top my lovely bag of multigrain chips with. The staff were nice and trying to figure out the price point for my bag -- it was kinda big LOL. Once we got that figured it out and I made my choices, I was on my way. I got back in the car, and it was quite a nachos treat! It was heavy, so I had to eat some of it down so I could go -- I should've brought a tray haha. It was delicious though! The jerk was on the sweeter side... can't really say I got any heat. The other elements were all great though -- I especially loved the plantain. I'd like to come back and try other things... I have a lot of Caribbean spots closer to me, but soon!

Both dishes were served with vegetables of the day, rice and peas, and sweet plantains, creating a well-rounded and satisfying meal. The seafood was cooked well, and the Caribbean-inspired flavors added a unique twist to each dish. For drinks, we enjoyed The Pearl, the Lavender French 75, The Golden Hour, and an Old Fashioned. Each cocktail was well-crafted and paired nicely with the menu. We finished with the Warm Cookie Skillet, topped with vanilla bean ice cream and a caramel drizzle. I called the restaurant to let them know about the error and inquire about the menu, so I could place an order. The man who picked up the phone literally laughed at me and said "I don't do online" and handed it off to someone else. The woman he handed to did not have a much better attitude. I shared the website menu issues and even took the time to send her the screenshots. I asked her if she could help me with a menu / offerings so I could place an order, and she said they were closing down. I reminded her that it's 7:23 PM and they don't close until 10:00 PM (per Yelp) or 8:00 PM (per Google). Her response was only that I could order whatever they have left, if I wanted to - verbatim. I wanted to ensure that I wasn't reading into it, and even said, "It doesn't sound like you want me to order", and she just said that it's up to me how I want to take it. =( The interaction was quite disappointing and far from welcoming, so regrettably, I will not be dining here and will check out other Caribbean restaurants in the area, like Teddy's and the Angry Jerk.
