The authenticity of Trinidad is felt here as soon as you see the restaurant, with its bright red colors and the music as you step inside. I ordered the Oxtail Buss Up Shut, which came with chickpeas and roti. The oxtail was delicious and prepared to the spice level I requested, but the pieces were relatively small and not too plentiful. I hadn't had them with chickpeas before, so that was a new experience I enjoyed. The roti is a generous portion, and it tasted great with the chickpeas and oxtail gravy. The gentleman whom I presumed to be the owner was very welcoming, and I'll certainly be back to try more Trinidadian staples.

My husband spotted an ad for this restaurant, and we decided to stop by only to find out they had just moved farther south on Georgia Avenue and recently held a grand opening. The new space is bright, clean, and welcoming, and the owner couldn't have been friendlier. We ordered takeout, so we didn't get to eat everything fresh, but overall the food was good. The chicken was a bit overcooked and the curry could've had more flavor, but the Dahl Puri was absolutely perfect. The salt fish was tasty, and the bake was impressively large. They also had sorrel and Irish moss, but we were too full to try them. The vibes were great, the food felt fresh, and the trip from Maryland to DC was worth it. We're definitely going back especially to try the bake and shark. Check them out!

This is the only place I found in the DMV that sells conch roti, so I come here ever so often to satisfy my craving. The conch is not tough. It's doesn't taste exactly like home but close enough.

The roti itself is thicker than what I'm used to, almost pita bread like to be exact. However, the flavor is accurate and pretty good. They get bonus points for offering a boneless chicken option although that's lowkey a micro sign of gentrification, but if you look outside...I digress. The service was relatively quick and the guy behind the counter was friendly. They had a good sorrel though overpriced per usual. The macaroni pie was not memorable. I'd come back specifically for another thick roti to eat on for about 2-3 meals.

Strictly an oxtail review as I've had the buss up shut here (curry goat to be specific) and would've rated higher. The oxtail itself is really tender and delicious, but a Very small portion. The cut of meat is bony so it's to be expected but it's an especially meagre serving when the box is packed with rice and peas and a spoonful of cabbage. So I was disappointed by portioning. The 'callalloo' is spinach based with not much ochre so the consistency is off. It's just a different flavour than the authentic version. Service is fine, and the wait time for food is pretty accurate. It's pretty small, easy going casual atmosphere. Just a couple small tables to sit at and eat indoors

I've always loved Caribbean food, but I had never tried Trini cuisine--until I discovered this gem in my neighborhood. I ordered a double and the curry chicken roti. It was delicious and I'll be stopping by here more frequently.

loved it! The customer service was awesome. I had no clue what I wanted and they explained everything to me and really helped me decide what would be best. It was super cute and cozy in there. The portion size was great, I left with enough leftovers for a full dinner. I will definitely be back to this nice neighborhood spot!

Is there seating inside? Where do customers park?

Limited seating (just a few tables), but I've eaten inside before. Street parking on Georgia or the side streets.

Is this good like Roti back home in Trinidad?

It's something that's only available from 7:00-11:00am on weekends, and I'm usually sleeping in or just not ready to get out of the house that early. My family and I were leaving for NY early on a Saturday morning, and I had no choice but to be awake and ready. So before we took off, I took advantage! It was around 8:30am and I was the only one in the restaurant. But it smelled amazing in there and they were friendly and happy! I had glimpsed the menu online, and I was scanning their screens for it above the register, but they had their regular menu up. I was walked through the options, and even got to taste a few things. I got to try sa\da roti for the first time, and I was intrigued. It's very similar to pita bread, but after looking it up I learned of the subtle differences. I was able to put pumpkin, smoked herring, saltfish, or eggplant & potatoes in it. I got food for my parents as well, so I settled on quite a few things: -Sada roti w/ pumpkin -Sada roti w/ eggplant/potatoes -Bake & saltfish -3 aloo pies Everything... was... STELLAR. I tasted the smoked herring and I honestly wish I got that in something, but I most certainly will next time. Is this the best Trini restaurant in the DMV?!

By default it came with two pieces of oxtails but that was too much meat for me so I asked for just one piece and more veggies. My server was kind enough to do such modification for me. The oxtail was fork-tender, had lots of collagen, beefy, and had a distinct sourness. The pickled veggies (cucumber slaw & bell peppers) provided a different type of sourness and a hint of heat. Overall very good, though the flavors from the meat and veggies were so strong that I could not have a clear idea of the flavor of the coconut rice. Also, I wish there could be more jus because it went soooooo well with the rice! The second time was for dinner. Tried the Pepperpot, Crispy Kale and Hops. The Pepperpot was a stew of oxtails, cowheels and beef chucks. Very beefy and spicy, a little bit sour/tangy, and very earthy. The sauce was heavenly. It was served with a small bowl of coconut rice and 2 pieces of hops. The rice was a little bit sweet and salty. The hops were similar to dinner rolls, except that they were more dense and firmer. I thought the Crispy Kale was like fried cabbage in soul food but it was literally fried -- so it was very crispy. Too oily for me. I like the mango chutney, though. Service was good and quick. While the restaurant is very small, reservation does not seem to be difficult, especially for lunch. There were, however, lots of online orders.

I feel like we generally have way more Jamaican food than Trini food around here (and even less of other islands), so it's a nice addition. If I wanted to I could walk / jog there, but otherwise it's a 5 minute drive. It's on a corner in Roosevelt Center where an Asian restaurant used to be. Even up until now, I see the Trini flags everywhere, and there are some pictures that still haven't been hung up. Sometimes they play music in there, and sometimes they don't -- I wish they'd play it all the time, because otherwise it can get oddly quiet in there. As for the food... 90% of the time I go is for their Sunday buffet. It's less than $30 for an all you can eat (AYCE) that includes plantain, chicken, fish, desserts, and some fantastic vegan dishes that are labeled as such. They have a whole vegan menu, in fact. And it's lovely to see all those on top of traditional Trinidadian options. When they first opened, they only served doubles and certain other things on weekends -- not sure if that's still the case, but they had signage to indicate that. By the way, I love their doubles. The buffet is the perfect way for me to unwind on Sundays, but I should try exploring other times, haha. I feel like a Caribbean restaurant in Old Greenbelt is a first, and I'm delighted to see the representation. Room for improvement: keep the drinks stocked during buffet, and there have been instances where no one is at the front and I've seen people waiting for a bit, sometimes impatiently. Perhaps add a bell to ring?

The rice and peas were on point, the cabbage was hitting, and the plantains? Sweet, caramelized, and cooked just right. The food was fire, the service felt like love, and the ambiance gave that laid-back "come sit down and eat good" energy. My plate looked good, tasted good, and had me already planning my next visit. Celebrate Black History month by supporting Black owned businesses…read more I attended a fun cigar event held in the VIP room on the second floor of SETA Oasis, which featured an open bar. We ordered a variety of chicken wings, along with french fries and some light fare. The VIP room has a lively ambiance, equipped with four large-screen TVs, seating for 60 people, making it perfect for events. From the outside, the building appears smaller than it actually is, as it's a multi-level venue that can host various events simultaneously. The restaurant downstairs offers a Caribbean menu that has received positive reviews, particularly for its brunch. It's also heartwarming to note that the restaurant is named in honor of the owner's late mother, Seta, adding a personal touch to the experience. I plan to return and explore more of their offerings in the future.
