I was referred here by my primary awhile back and have gone here a couple times in the not-so-distant past. I saw Dr. Averett. My first impression was a good guy, easy to talk to, and doesn't have a personality of a brick wall. I'm sure he's great at his job/ at what he does if some attention is actually needed. However, in my situation, I thought it was a bit lacking in my opinion. Maybe it was because I didn't have any broken bones or anything immediate and my issues were more nerve/circulatory related on one leg and foot, therefore, not much can be done? Who knows, I sure as heck don't. All I know is I was referred to a podiatrist (first one ever) and this is where I went. The initial visit was to establish care and check feet, verified issue with circulation problems. He recommended a vien specialist (unfortunately, out of network) . He prescribed an anti-fungal medication for my feet and get lab work done. End of visit. Maybe 10-15 mins. OK, fine. Second visit about 2 weeks later. Asked if taking the medication (I was), verified lab work. Didn't check feet nor made any suggestions for execution plan. Tells me to come back in 90 days. Visit was less than 10 mins. WTH? Why am I even coming in, then? This is something my primary can do for almost half the cost! Each visit was a $40 co-pay for me under my insurance. This is crazy, honestly. Needless to say, I didn't bother to reschedule another visit for 3 months later........otherwise, it would have been shame on me. read more

I was referred to Sunrise after a visit to urgent care that landed me at the ER. I had an injured toe nail that was bothering me after about 2 months of hoping it fall off on its own. I loved how quick and easy the visit was. I felt listened to and was provide more than 1 option in treatment with one being an alternative home remedy option that astonished me because not many Dr's recommend home remedies anymore. I went with the option of just having my toe nail removed and was amazed by how experienced the Podiatrist was in completing the procedure and explaining every portion of what I'd be expected to feel as he was completing it. He numbed my toe so quickly I only felt a slight pinch after about 4-5 injections. I am afraid of needles so that was the scariest part for me but podiatrist was so quick and gentle it was done in less than a minute. Once he was completing the removal of the toe nail I couldn't feel a thing. He offered great instructions on how to care for it and took the time to answer all my questions. I can't speak about the flamingo facility, but the Durango staff has to go. My 1st and very last visit . I'm a human being and a senior and did not deserve to be talked like to an Animal . Did I say Animal. Oh well even an Animal would have dropped all 4 legs and collapsed of the way the I was communicated to . Very disrespectful. And the shocking thing of it was that the Doctor that is the lead and the owner of the facility didn't even want to hear my concern and nasty treatment. Just ignored my concern and all went in one ear and out the other. Like I was a nobody. This appointment was not even for me. It was for my 11!yr old daughter and she even asked me Daddy why is that lady at that desk so rude? I had ingrown toenails removed. They were deep. The podiatrist gave nothing to numb my toes. He just ripped them out. They grew back quickly or maybe just weren't actually removed. I'm afraid to go back and I'm in pain. read more

The flamingo location is dirty!!! The front staff is rude and the waiting room is a small shoe box with no parking. The waiting room was filthy and the exam room was also dirty. I had to take my 11 year old and waited 5 weeks for this appointment. I should have trusted my gut and left. So so so yucky!!! The dr was nice but no other part of thisappointment was good. Have you ever walked into a business or office and immediately gotten a bad vibe? From there, it just kept going downhill to the point of almost walking away from your appointment? That's exactly how I felt this morning when I came for my appointment at Sunrise Foot and Ankle. It was overcrowded, to the point where I counted 15 people with only 14 chairs. The patients were, no exaggeration, sitting should to shoulder in the middle of a pandemic. Then, when I got to the receptionist, it was apparent she had no patience (no pun intended) to deal with someone like me that didn't want to sit in this small packed waiting area and fill out paperwork. And then wait for what appeared to be a very long time to be seen by the doctor. So I went to my car, filled out the paperwork, and considered not going back inside. Now I was looking for more things to write negatively about, and I found there was no hand sanitizer, and the two girls in the reception area weren't wearing gloves while handling my insurance and personal credentials. And they weren't the friendliest of sorts either. Wow, was I going to rip this place a new asshole when it came to my review, I thought to myself. And then, while waiting in my car, I got a call from Doctor Jeremy Wood that I should come on in for my appointment, which was only a 10-minute wait, by the way. And here is where it all changed. Dr. Wood was friendly, easy to speak with, and extremely knowledgeable about my chronic [foot] issue. He knew precisely how to deal with my decades-old foot problem that has caused pain in my legs, back, and hips forever. He explained why I had a misconception about my feet, and in less than 15-minutes, this doctor appears to have solved the mystery of my hip and back pain. From what possibly could have been a one-star review, I have now revised it to four stars. I genuinely wish I could offer five stars, but Dr. Wood has to make some improvements in the front office for me to do that. Otherwise, I can't say enough good things about Dr. Wood and how he seems to have changed my life in a matter of 15-minutes. If you're willing to endure a little discomfort in the office and staff, I can't recommend anyone as highly as this doctor. The front desk staff needs some improvements. The voice mail system doesn't accept voice mails even though there is a beep on the recording as if you can leave a message. I've tried that and never get a return call. Why is it that I can call anytime between 8 am - 5pm and still not get anyone to answer? I do want to continue seeing the doctors there at the Durango location; however, it's super hard to schedule, reschedule or confirm an appointment. Perhaps they should consider the text message format as is used by so many other medical practices. read more

This is a follow up review from my first one a few years back. I started seeing Dr. Wood because of my bunions. First thing he said was I needed surgery right away. So he finally talked me into it. Worst decision I have ever made. He removed a bunion on my right foot and straightened 3 toes. I didn't even know he was going to straighten any toes until I was getting rolled in to the surgery room. Well my foot to this day has never healed. The big toe where the bunion was is completely numb. The second toe is really long and skinny and hurts constantly and is starting to go beneath my other two toes. The 3rd and 4th toes are more crooked now then they ever ere before he did anything. My baby toe is crooked as well and sticks out to the right. It gets caught on every thing. I can never wear sandals again or any open toed shoes. Every time I went for my Dr appointment he would take an x-ray and tell me it was healing perfectly fine. That the x-ray showed my foot being straight. Well I'm here to tell you that my foot is not all right and never has been. I sent him emails explaining to him what was going on with my foot along with pictures and I never got a response from him. I think that is so unprofessional. He got paid a lot of money from my insurance co. And I just think it's so wrong. I even went to see a second doctor to get his opinion and he agreed with me about my foot not being right. He said I needed another surgery but said my foot would never be normal. He would not put it in writing that Dr Wood had indeed messed my foot up but then I don't know of any doctor that would go against the other one. I never did have that second surgery as I just don't think I could go through it again. So I suffer in pain all the time. The second one would have been longer recovery then the first. All in all I would have been much better off if I hadn't had surgery at all. It's a real shame because I really liked Mr. Wood as a doctor and a person. In the end I was very disappointed read more

Don't go there! 2 years suffering of an implant I didn't even need hurting a nerve on a surgery that I wasn't even aware, I walked in for bunion surgery walkout with the bunion surgery but also with a flat foot surgery and the implant for the flat foot surgery hurting a nerve.. 4 months complaining every time going in they would do xray there and Dr Woods response was well X-rays look good of course charging me for X-rays every time. I had to ask him to send me to physical therapy and looked bothered that I requested him to do so. Very unprofessional when it came down for paperwork I needed for work, causing me stress and fear on losing my job over these surgery. HR kept trying to get ahold of him and was never a response from him.. I had to go to the office to get what HR needed for my ADA accommodation at work.. on one he wrote the bunion surgery, second tendinitis and the last one sprain ankle ??? Of course HR was gonna have questions.. the last time I took paperwork in he made me feel like it was me just not wanting to go back to work when in reality I was I in pain and my foot was super swollen so how can I fake a swollenness when it's so visible! That was the last time I went to him. Just recently I went for a second opinion and this Dr sent me to get real X-rays to a real professional place and right away found the problem the implant or hardware like he calls it must go. He told me him personally don't put that on adults only on kids. The minute that implant came out of me the swelling started to go down of course of surgery foot will be swollen it's normal but my ankle was back to it's normal size and I'm happy I went for a second opinion.. I had foot surgery done by Dr. Wood in 2023. I would not recommend him to do ANY surgery on either of your feet. He did a horrible job and ruined my foot. I had to go to another podiatrist and he was appalled at what Dr. Wood did to my foot. My toes are mangled, I'm in constant pain becuase 2 of the toes he worked on became dislocated soon after the surgery. My foot pain is extreme, and Dr. Wood did not fix my toes at all. They are so much worse now than before he supposedly tried to fix them. I have to get his work corrected which should not happen to any patient. He is not at all qualified to do any type of surgery on feet so beware! The new podiatrist who is going to have to repair Dr. Wood's work kept saying to me "bless your heart" because the x-rays are frightening to even look at. Let me add, the office staff at the Flamingo location all need to be let go. They are the rudest, most incompetent group of people I've ever seen in a doctor's office. I paid to get my records and they kept delaying me on getting them after I went to the office several times to pick them up. They did not provide me with my complete records as I had requested. I suggest staying away from this provider and find a podiatrist who has a great record, and high ratings. I was actually seeing a different podiatrist however due to some drama with THAT doc, my co-worker referred me to his friend Dr. Wood. Having my foot surgery postponed twice & up against a deadline with my health insurer I literally had 2 weeks to find a new doc & have this surgery. I met with Dr Wood once and my surgery was done within the week. Now...everyone's situation will be different and surgery may not be necessary BUT I tore the peroneous brevis tendon 2 years ago & it just wasn't healing. A quick review of my last MRI & symptomology and it was a no brainer. I also had an ingrown nail on the same foot and he took care of that during the surgery too. During the surgery there were a few surprises he found but took care of it. I am 2 months post op & my incision looks great. I am happy with it. The pain I experienced the last 2 years is no longer present; I'm just dealing with post surgical swelling, tightness & discomfort. I'd call it a success. He's a nice guy. Straight and to the point. Up beat. Laid back. Easy going. Fills out your FMLA papers with you in the office so you don't have to wait for them like you do with some doctors. I have never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen. I have always received a reminder call the day before an appointment. The girls are really nice & helpful. I'd recommend seeing him if your foot is bugging ya. He's pretty no nonsense. When I showed him what my prior podiatrist was going to do surgically, not only was I not aware of a few procedures she had planned but he & I discussed it and didn't see any reason to do it unless I wanted it done. Please beware!!! You can make an appointment so easily? That should be a warning sign in itself. If you are having foot or leg pain DO NOT go to this place. They have no decency or compassion for hard working people. I went there about a year ago and the doctor did not help at all. He told me to get new shoes. That office visit was a total of 10 minutes and was a $40 co-pay. That was aggravating but not the end of the world. Fast forward a year I get another bill? Why? After calling for a week straight with no answer or going straight to voicemail. Which the voicemail is full! Their explanation is it was for xrays? They needed x-rays to tell me to get new shoes? Well that was a waste of time and money. Again its not a lot of money but just frustrating and very deceitful. I went to the office on Rainbow being that I live in this side of town. Pointless because the office isn't set up for X-Rays. I had to go wait two weeks for the other office across town for X-Rays. On the Third visit he handed me my insoles and said have a good day. Each visit was $30 co-pay and only one visit was longer than 2 min. I understand paying for doctor visits but $30 just to pick up my insoles. When if they could have provided the service at the original location I would have only needed two visits.
