We stopped in today on the way back from Homer. We knew they had been up for sale for some time, and our server confirmed it was now under new management. The menu was different but I was happy to see they still had the chicken wrap on there. It went downhill from then. I asked for a Gold Medal Chicken Wrap, with crispy chicken (ranch was not an option, previously it was my go-to choice) you could have hot wings sauces, or honey BBQ - and this is my bad, I initially thought that it said honey mustard, so I said honey mustard. It came with a choice of tater tots onion rings or fries. I chose tater tots, but changed my mind to fries. Husband just ordered a piece of carrot cake. I was very disappointed with this wrap, not just in comparison to the wrap that used to be available, but just as a wrap being offered by a restaurant in general. The honey bbq sauce (I had asked for some on the side, to dip it into) was red. And I couldn't taste any BBQ smokiness. It was very tomatoey. I queried about my honey-mustard error, and she showed me the menu, and that mistake was definitely on me. I asked if she had some ranch I could use as a dip, and was brought some. So anyway, the wrap - loosely wrapped and quite floppy, and warm, as though it had been grilled or broiled, which rendered the lettuce leaf and tomato slice warm, limp and floppy. The previous wrap from Sunrise, and most other wraps in restaurants where I've had them, will serve an unwarmed tortilla with raw crunchy vegetables. The Sunrise previously did so - lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced red onion, shredded cheese, julienned carrots and crispy chicken in a cool creamy ranch dressing, it was a tightly wrapped, crunchy delight, and out of this world. I recommended it to anyone passing that way. The best thing I have to say about this one, is that there was plenty of chicken and it was tender. There was too much of the honey bbq sauce in it though, and the chicken wasn't crispy anymore, the breading had gone very soggy. It was a disappointment. As were the tater tots, when I had requested fries. The server was pleasant enough, and I tipped her well, but I wasn't happy with the food at all. Won't be returning anytime soon read more

Im not one to complain too much on the road but this was a huge disappointment. My clam chowder was from a can and the huge chunks of potatoes were probably from breakfast home fries and now also floating in my little bowl of soup. This establishment needs to regroup and decide on a decent quality of food. Fry food just doesn't make it for everybody. read more

Stayed at Sunrise Inn on the way to Seward from Anchorage for one night. The Inn is quite dated and definitely one of the worst places I stayed on my trip. Priced at $165 for a night- noisy spring beds, no heating/air conditioning, broken lock on bathroom window, broken door, overall dirty and not enjoyable conditions. The food was a little better than the hotel, but that's not saying much. Overall don't recommend staying. read more

I cannot attest to the food at this place as we didn't eat here but we just stayed here for the night. This hotel was by far the worst place that we had stayed on our trip to alaska out of all seven locations. You check in at the restaurant.Although we had to go into the bar to find somebody to check us in and get us a key to the room. The guy was really nice.That checked us in and the price was right. Unfortunately, that was where the good things ended did. The place is clearly very dated, which is totally fine. There are random holes all along the wall, where it looks like other things used to be. Our friends were staying in the room next to us and their carpet was absolutely disgusting. Thankfully, we had some sort of vinyl on our floors. So that it wasn't that bad. Her bedding had multiple tears in it. Nothing in the room matched from the towels to the sheets. When we pulled back the sheets of the bed, there were little specks of what looked like dirt all along the bed, and it appeared that the sheets had not been cleaned. Thankfully, we had each brought a blanket.So we were able to use that to sleep with. It really, truly did feel dirty though sleeping in that bed. We only had two towels in our room for 4 people, so my husband went and asked for another. The only thing that they could give him was an extra hand towel. When I turned on the shower, the way that the shower head was facing the water, just completely shot right out of the shower stall leaving water all over the floor and no good towels to clean it up. read more

This is a very dated, bare bones motel. The shower sprays directly out the door and onto the ancient vinyl floor, which might be moldy (my wife thinks). The mattresses are very creaky, saggy and tired. It was quieter than expected, however. read more

I really love Sunrise. Everytime I drive down to Cooer Landing, I make a point of stopping there. If weather permits I sit on the patio- they get a lot of rain there, so I bring a towel just in case I need to dry off the seats. Took our friend from out of town to Cooper Landing at the end of August , so our day was book-ended by rain. Thankfully our lunch wasn't interrupted by rain and we had a glorious meal on the patio. Service was great as usual, food was great. This was the first time i have tried their onion rings and they were PERFECT! My sausage sammie was great too.. There re so many things on the menu that I like (see previous reviews) is nice to know my high expectations continue to be upheld. read more

Unfortunately the Sunrise is under new ownership. We found out the owners of Buckets in Soldotna bought the inn. We usually like to stop on the way south and this time was no exception. Except, the food is not like it used to be. The burger my husband ordered had the juices cooked right out of it and was dry as a bone and his tater tots were over cooked to the point of being crispy blobs of grease. My Cesar Salad came with lettuce, not dressed, some grated cheese and crispy chicken that was luke warm. The dressing was on the side and was so thick there's no way I could have dressed the salad. I ended up dipping my chicken and lettuce in it. I asked for extra dressing and I was charged $2.50 for it. The waiter never bothered to come back and offer us a fill up on our drinking water or to ask how our meal was. I had to flag him down to get the extra dressing. It wasn't that busy. I had wondered why all the cars were at the new brew house next door. Now we know why. We probably won't be back this season. read more

I've been patronizing Sunrise for well over 40 Years. It's had many ups and downs. It peaked in the 90s and early 2000s. It's been in a slow decline for the last 5-6 years as former owners have had to reposes twice. Tried it again Aug '25; a new low. Not quite terrible, but a shadow if its former self. We were greeted by a really warm and friendly staff who were quick to let us know their selections of the day. We were skeptical but had to try halibut. They told us that they have fresh caught ones and can do a halibut burger quickly . I must say it was one of the most delicious fish Ive had, so soft, lighlt spiced and done! Tldr During my travels in Alaska, i had the chance to stay in cooper's landing. Its a pristine area with stunning lake, views and even moose sightings. Only on my last day did i take a chance to visit Sunrise Inn. Though we originally planned to do have the breakfast there, we had reached late and it was time for lunch.. Im reminded of one of the staff who was a native of Kodiak Island and insisted that if at all, we planned to travel to kodiak, we should consult her :) . REVIEW OF LODGING: We really enjoyed our three day stay here. The rooms were so clean and comfortable, it felt like home. The room was fully stocked with all toiletries; towels, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. The beds were the highlight, so comfortable it felt like a temper pedic mattress. I haven't slept that good in awhile. The TV has dish cable service, we were able to watch the baseball and football games. Over all a really nice stay, the cafe next door is so quaint and charming and the best food we had our whole trip was there. 10/10 highly recommend. Make sure to throw the frisbee for one-eyed-Willy. read more

(Same price as my rental for a 3bedroom 2 bathroom with yard on Diamond side of town, with a yard and HOA services) They charged multiple space renters over 1000 a month, no sewage hook ups, no water hook ups, just electricity. Same price as the princess rv park and they have everything including a little shore. Male owner has horrible customer service. From completely ignoring customers standing at his counter, false statements to renters. Food prices are wild for the quality. Rooms are paper thin walled. Falling trees in the rv park. (They almost fell on my brand new 2025 camper the first wind storm. Had to move the camper and move the tree myself. I could go on forever about what sunrise inn has turned into.So many other beautiful camping spots in cooper's landing i would incurage people stay at more alaskan friendly spots before wasting time and your hard earned money here. 50 a night to anyone that camps lol wow. Almost every local iv talked to out here are very upset with them. Please look around for a better camping spot good luck and have a safe summer camping! read more

We were headed back to anchorage and stopped here to use the restroom. It smelled so good we had to get something to eat. Best decision I ever made. The chicken sandwich was so delicious and the service was amazing! I would highly recommend this restaurant. They also have a full bar on the other side if you want a beer or cocktail with you food. read more

On my way back from Homer I once again stopped in at the Sunrise Inn. After discussing my first review with several interested parties I decided to order the BLT. Once again it was a home run. The bread was delicious and toasted perfectly. The bacon was piled on as well as the tasty tomatoes. Their gas prices were fair. The bar drinks are well priced with the beer selection varied. The best part about the Sunrise in is that it's open year-round. Cooper Landing is very much a "summer boomtown", so that makes Sunrise unique. I sat at the bar and ordered a steak, cuz that's what you do in small town Alaska. The bartender was fresh, bright, and friendly. He looked like a young lad that had just rolled in from Utah territory and was optimistic about his future in the Last Frontier. The steak was good and so was the beer. The beer was insanely expensive though. $7 for a bottle of Deschutes IPA. :-/ read more

In the off season there are darn few dine-in places to stop and get something to eat along the Sterling Hwy between Girdwood and Soldotna, AK. We order burgers or salads when we come in. The food is good and the portions are generous, and we recommend this joint. We were the only ones wearing face masks in September 2021. Our waiter had a face mask on and we found a table a bit to the side of foot traffic. read more

This review is for the diner only. This place is a rustic roadside diner. Very unfancy but clean. The service, one waitress for few diners, was very good - prompt and friendly. There are many items on the menu but judging from the orders placed by locals and seeing the meals delivered, breakfast is the way to go. We went for lunch. A burger for my wife and an Adult Grilled Cheese for me. The burger and grilled cheese were somewhere between meh and yuck. The sweet potato fries and onion rings were yuck or worse. They need to change the oil in their deep fryer more often. Avoid the deep fryer. Go for breakfast items. read more

Really cute and clean stop. The wall mural is done by a local girl and absolutely beautiful. At the front of the entrance there is a telescope that you can see up to the mountain if you don't have binoculars. We didn't eat here but the food looked and smelled great. read more

Place was packed, they had a wait to be seated sign and no one was seating people. We waited while my son used the restroom and two groups in front of us left before we did because we couldn't even be seated. Year : 2008. Worked for AWA, in Cooper Landing. Cooper Landing: Beautiful and a little isolated. Fishing heaven. Very few places to hang out after work, except for the massive wilderness. Sunrise: Not cheap at all, but , thank God for a night life in a town of population 300/400. Food=Breakfast- really good, simple and traditional. Night- a few live bands. expensive beer/cocktails. Atmosphere: smoky bar with 2 pool tables. rugged men and pretty women. Overall experience: Priceless. Great time spent with new friends and coworkers. read more

We had a 2 for 1 coupon so stopped by for dinner. I had meatloaf, she had french dip sandwich. Both meals were pretty pathetic. Both meals came with choice of fries, mac and cheese, or cole slaw and the meatloaf with a side of "vegetables" (no mashed potatoes?!) . The vegetables turned out to be a few bites of frozen corn kernals. The fries were fairly good and the meat loaf part was actually pretty good, but it was swimming in cornstarchy pudding-like dark salty institutional tasting gravy, kind of gross really because the meatloaf already had kind of a ketchupy topping, and the two clashed. I avoided the mac and cheese because when asked the waitress was kind enough to admit the cheese was a sauce from a can. That's just gross and really there's no reason or excuse to set the food bar so low these days. The French dip was ok, except that the bottom bun had become very soggy, either sat somewhere too long, or poor plating techniqe. Ok so its suppose to be dipped in au jus to be soggy anyway, but when it comes already soggy its kind of gross. The coleslaw was actually pretty good, crispy cabbage that seemed a bit fresh and the dressing wasn't too much or overly sweet.I seriously doubt we'll ever go here again, unless nearby Sackett's was closed. I must say.... RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, LAZY LAZY LAZY.... AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! We were running out of gas heading Southbound at 7 15 in the morning. They we're scheduled to open at 8 and wouldn't open the doors for us to pay for gas. We could see 3 employees standing in the kitchen staring at us walking around the restaurant and would not open the door for us. We ended up having to push our vehicle to the next stop for gas which was at the grizzly Ridge. They were extremely nice and very welcoming. I would think that a business in a town as small as Cooper Landing would need as much customers as possible but instead this place pushed us away and made us feel as though we were an inconvenience for wanting to pay for gas. Very very rude. I give this shithole and their inbred employees zero Stars!!... unfortunately i have to choose something so I guess one start it will be. read more

This is a nice little road house within a few minute walk of Kenai Lake. It had a nice waitress and a restroom! (Which are non-existent in March between Girdwood and Seward. We went out of our way a few miles for that. Had lunch, chili, ham and cheese soup and a blue cheese bacon burger with onion rings. The soup and chili were good and the burger was good and the onion rings pretty good but a small amount. I would recommend this place as a nice stop along the Sterling Hwy.--(or a good place to use the restroom on the way to Seward in the off season!) read more

My husband and I stopped in about a week ago on our way home to Anchorage. The food here was great and the staff was super friendly. Not only to the customers but you could see them working together and helping each other during the rush. The owner was a hoot and really nice. She made us feel right at home. It's just a scoot past the Y so we will definitely be stopping by even if we are going to Seward, so worth the detour! read more
