Both times I was able to get seated right away at the bar for dinner. The first night I had the "bucket of butt" (halibut) along with fried pickles, and Tanner crab the following night. I absolutely loved the gluten-free coating on the halibut since I'm not a fan of tempura-style batter. The Tanner crab was amazing, and the fried pickles were also great, though the portion was huge (definitely too much for one person). Service was excellent both nights. The bartenders were really friendly, and the food came out quickly and smoothly. The interior is also super cute, kind of an old-school lounge vibe with lots of velvet. I was told that this place had a new chef so the food was now "great!" Since I'm in town working and wanted dinner, I stopped in. First, the place looks like1985 retired inside in a good way. The bar in lined in plush red fabric and the photos, decor and chairs all are retro to the max but what did the food taste like? So I ordered the smash burger and roasted mini Yukon gold potatoes with creme and bacon. The burger was kinda charred I guess but still good, the server never asked how I wanted it cooked so that was a HUGE minus, but it wasn't bad just not great, the flavor was good, the veggies were fresh, just not great! The potatoes were the star of the show! They were perfectly seasoned and the creme and bacon sauce was MONEY!! They literally melt in your mouth and were roasted perfectly without being mushy. The service was good, the vibe was super chill. The place is kinda pricey for what you get but that is everything in this little town. I will be back to try some other things eventually. read more

I will start by saying that the ambiance and decor were truly amazing, a very cozy space. Now on to the important thing, to me at least... THE FOOD! Almost everything we got was underwhelming. The halibut chowder was the only thing I really enjoyed and tasted great! I was very excited to try the halibut and fries based on other reviews but everything had no flavor, like they didn't even add a pinch of salt so I was highly disappointed to pay close to $40 for a meal that tasted like nothing. The fries were supposed to have salt, pepper, garlic and definitely didn't have either of the three. The fried pickles were OK, the duck drumsticks had a strong meat flavor & gave me the ick. I would not come back here for the food.. we didn't have a drink but it seems more like a cocktail lounge than a place you should go to for food. Got seated promptly and server came by swiftly to suggest drinks, etc. With its low lighting and the decor, could be a nice place for a date. I went with the Oaxaca old fashioned for my drink and I enjoyed sipping it slowly. We had the Bone marrow butter for appetizer and the marrow butter was pretty tasty. The mushroom pate was very underwhelming though. Our entree orders came by at a very decent pace. My entree of Rockfish was good, but could have done better with more sauce. Passed by here on our first day in Seward. The vibe looked funky as Hell on the outside, which I kinda digged. Immediately wanted to go in and try it out, but it was packed. We got the Bucket of Butt and the Sourdough Bread Board as well as a couple of drinks. The drinks were top notch, and the Bucket of Butt was some of the best halibut I've ever had in my entire life. After the buzz snuck in, I got the 6-piece "bucket of butt" since I don't have any friends to share the 10-piece with. Perfect texture and crispiness, with tartar and lemon. GF is an extra bonus. The slaw had a wonderful flavor, but it clearly was the prep cook's first time holding a knife. They just went after that poor cabbage like it had betrayed an ancient bloodline. Overall, incredible experience, but I was very disappointed that there were no flamingos anywhere to be found. I told the taxi driver that I was at "The Lounge" because of this oversight. I cant believe my first time having bone marrow was in Alaska. The drinks were fantastic, but the bone marrow dish was unlike anything I've ever had before. I pretty much ate this entire dish alone. On our first day in Seward, Alaska, we were told by the lodge front desk that we gotta check out Flamingo Lounge for their drinks and food before we left Seward. Since we were highly suggestible, we went there for dinner. It was a full house at the restaurant and we almost got turned away. Lucky for us, two seats opened up and we got to sit by the kitchen to watch all the actions! The menu had a lot of choice, but we settled with the 28 dollar sandwich, halibut nuggets, broccolini, brussel sprouts, and tots. We also ordered an old fashioned. Everything was good indeed. Our favorite was the 28 dollar sandwich. It was meaty, juicy, and fulfilling. Our least favorite was the price. We understand the income potential is not great during the winter, but paying LA price in little town Seward hurt our feelings. Overall experience was just ok. We truly enjoyed the food and drink, but the service was lacking. The host had a little attitude but she did her best to find us a seat so we like her. But once we sat down, it took a long time to even get a glass of water. For the most part of our meal, no one really attended us and water was never refilled. At the end of the day, we would still recommend the place since we care about the food more than service, but just be aware. read more

Ambiance is weird, but dim, cool, copper ceiling, velvet pulls, and one hell of a collection of liquor bottles. Food was amazing last time. I had short rib and bone marrow. On point. Plus was being able to watch the cooks. We went back made a reservation and how underwhelming the menu was. Devils on horseback and pickle fries is what was ordered. Dates were not evenly acquired with the soft undercooked chewy bacon and soft arugula with not great balsamic vinegar. Pickles were completely missing from the fried part. Only breading. Back visiting in Seward and hadn't tried this place before, and I was intrigued by the menu and pictures of the food so we made this our place for dinner. We are from Anchorage and took the train down here may 26, going on a wildlife cruise tomorrow, then taking the train back. This place had a cool, retro vibe, almost like a tiki bar because of the flamingo theme but not tropical. We got seated in the very back by the kitchen(which is fun to watch) and they were high top tables with round seats with no backs. We were fine with that as we didnt have to wait. We came at around 5:30ish and they open at 5pm, we would have had to wait for a table in the main area. It took 5-10 minutes for our server to come around, and he asked us who was seated first out of the 3 parties so we told him, he said he was blind(wasn't paying attention) For food we got the fried pickles which were cut and breaded like fries and came with a jalapeño aoli. I would have preferred ranch but I never asked because I thought they wouldn't have any. Options are good for sauces especially for those who dont like spicy. It was still a good sauce. We also got the bread and butter board. A warm small loaf of bread with two big smears of butter, one with honey and one with cranberries and nuts. We also got a bucket of halibut butts. You have to order fries seperate it is not fish and chips. The batter on the fish was light like tempura with house made tarter sauce. All of the food looked really good, the halibut po boy, the burger, and the baked potato looked awesome. Drinks too looked good. Great overall place. What an unexpected venue in Seward. Eclectic but vibrant interior. My crab cake was great, as was my Vesper (well done!). My Halibut was awesome, best I have had. Immaculate and SO fun We walked in very hungry, so i unfortunately did not get pictures of our food (you know how that can be), but it has been a month since we were there and I have to admit I'm still thinking about the food, notably the Devils on Horseback. Everywhere I go now, if I see dates on the menu I get them and, they are usually delicious, but they make me miss Flamingo Lounge! Hands down the best cocktail bar in Alaska. The vibe is perfect - partly eclectic, partly trendy, and partly dive. This is my kinda place. I came in here two nights in a row because it was that good! The first time I was there Spencer was our server and we had a full dinner. Everything he recommended was on point.I am not usually one for fried food, especially fish and chips but I have to say the bucket of butt was so freaking good - I'm still thinking about it!. I'm not even going to mention the food or the five star bartender cocktail service.... It's nostalgic and worth the visit. Reservations are highly recommended as I walked in and had to sit at the bar. The place is not fancy. We also did not enjoy the Reindeer Meatballs- I understand it's supposed to be gamey but whatever spices they used for it just did not do it any justice- we found it very overpowering.
