Rebecca was simply awesome! She knew exactly where to look. She found everything but one item. Turns out it was no longer sold over the counter. But she suggested "Thyroid Care Plus". It contained everything and selenium. She saved me money and this product is better than buying everything separately and taking multiple pills. Win, win! I definitely be returning to this store! Time to update my review. Been back several times since my last review. Sunrise Natural Foods is still my favorite place to shop for vitamins, supplements, and muscle recovery lotions. The store inventory is huge with various brands, all top notch. The inventory is fresh as well. Meaning no expired products on the shelf. Super clean and well organized shop. There are two Sunrise Natural Foods. One is in Roseville and the other is this one, in Auburn. The staff here is engaging but not overly intrusive. The current staff does a walk about asking everyone if they have they need assistance. If one person doesn't know, they will get a coworker that can provide additional information. The shop also carries small but mighty inventory of grocery staples, fresh produce, prepackaged local meat and chicken, water filling station,makeup, and local made soap, Another thing to not is that they discontinued their purchase punch cards . But will honor ones that have not been redeemed yet. . read more

Horrible customer service. My 81 yo mother who weighs 104lbs got to the business 2 mins before the 5:00 close time. When she got there she knocked on the door and pointed to her watch saying that it wasn't 5 pm yet and she only needed to buy one thing. They ignored her and refused to open the door. Also, apparently they called the cops because an 81 yo woman looked so threatening. My mother is a classy lady who does not use profanity or rude gestures, she nearly knocked on the door and pointed to her watch. read more

Nice to see that Sunrise is still carrying many products that stores like Raleys have eliminated from their shelves. The staff is over the top helpful. The supplements must be hard to organize because I always have a hard time figuring out the order but they have someone on duty to locate them quickly. Just want to say that I am sorta glad I have been driven to shop,at Sunrise, for items which are eliminated from the supermarket because I am discovering many terrific products and now shop there more often, instead of going to the supermarket. read more

I feel very unsafe when I go into this store because they don't require customers to wear masks, plus the staff wear shields but not proper masks to keep their aerosols/breath from going everywhere. Anyone could be asymptomatic and contaminating the air with viral particles. The store is small with low ceilings and not a lot of air volume, so it is a very unsafe situation. It is shocking that the management hasn't taken safety and mask protocols seriously, because so many of the customers have compromised health and co-morbidities. We can and must do better to control the spread of the coronavirus - the pandemic is at its worst point now since the beginning. read more

Wow. Came to this store for the first time to check it out, since I'm new to the area. I heard the closing announcement that there was 10 min until they close. I get it, I've worked in retail. Not looking to keep anyone from getting home to their family. So I walked over to quickly grab what I was hoping they would have--which they did. And some manly looking women with a horrible attitude walked up to me and said, "Can I help you find what you need...BEFORE WE CLOSE!!!" Excuse me? I was in the area with hubs and we spotted the store. He's a regular customer at the Roseville location, so we decided to take a look see. He was looking at their selection of homeopathic pain relief creams, which they have a huge selection. They even have Asian/FarEast imported ointments. The staff is knowledgable, and friendly. Hubs spoke to one woman about the traumeel brand cream and how the company was sold, the new manufacturer changed the inactive ingredients. So now the cream has a different textual feel and is more viscose than creamy. He was looking around for a new brand similar to his beloved traumeel. No luck. The woman thanked him for educating her on something new (regarding the formula change for traumeel). That's refreshing. But we didn't leave empty handed. We bought a packaged lemon cookie--it was gluten free, dairy free, egg free--surprisingly it was tasty. It was moist and flavorful, but a bit on the crumbly side. read more

I decided to stop here after my appointment, and I'm glad to have checked it out! This is one of the better natural foods stores that I've been to in awhile. They have products ranging from snacks, local organic produce, frozen foods, to supplements. They have another location in Roseville that is supposed to be even bigger in size. I happily stumbled upon the new Just Egg and DMSO gel. I highly recommend this gel for those who suffer from arthritis, tendinitis, or muscle cramps. I learned more about the gel from an ex fire fighter couple at the Sacramento Health Expo, which in fact is coming up this February! Overall, I recommend this store to those in the area and anyone visiting! read more

Been shopping here since 2002. Considering it's not a very large store, they carry an impressive selection of items you'd want from a health-oriented store carrying food, supplements, alternative medicine and personal items of all kinds. They carry items I don't see at Whole Foods, Briar Patch, Trader Joes, much less the larger, conventional supermarkets. Produce is often local, and always fresh and organic. The prices were what I'd expect in a mountain town for what this store carries; in Auburn, their inventory is rather specialized, and not being a Safeway etc., I'd guess items can't be purchased at the bulk levels that allow larger, conventional, impersonal stores to offer slightly lower prices. I'm happy not to drive farther down to save a few bucks; time and gas and wear and tear are considerations too. I've found the staff to invariably be very friendly and helpful. So I have to wonder what may have been occurring to cause a couple other Yelpers to feel the store employees were unhelpful or even distrustful. The negative review by sdm d. sounded like my mother, who is a generally negative person and always (and I do mean always) seems to be the victim of crappy experiences. Guess what? Apparently we can look up all the reviews by any specific Yelper, so I looked up smd d.'s reviews and yup, all are negative and complaining. So I'd take that one with a grain of salt. The other Yelper who posted a negative review has a history of both positive and negative reviews, so perhaps it was just a bad day at the store. read more

Love this store! A large variety of products that always seem to be fresh, and every staff member has been super knowledgeable, honest, helpful. A breath of fresh air. Prices are slightly higher, but sale items are oftentimes less (look for their flyers at https://sunrisenaturalfoods.net/flyers/) . On Wednesdays, seniors 55+ can get a 15% discount on non-sale items. Reason for not 5 stars are two-fold. 15% senior discount is only for non-sale items, when advertising doesn't mention that, implying that it's for all items. Just an FYI. Secondly, there was a gentleman in the store yesterday with his dog in the grocery cart, not only illegal, but quite a turnoff in a health food store. It's one way how C-Diff, Parvo, Gardiasis, and many types of worms get spread, and the workers should be trained how to handle that. IMHO. read more

I don't mind paying more in order to support our local small businesses, and usually this store is very helpful when you ask them questions. I went there on 9/26/21, right when they opened the door, and there was no one else in the store. When I asked one of the two employees if they had miso paste, they said if we have it, it would be in isle 7. I work in retail, and when someone asks me if we have something, I bring them right to the correct isle, and help them find the exact item. I would expect the same from this store. Besides that, there are at least two sections/isles in this store that have Asian food, so it wasn't necessarily on isle 7. I do appreciate however, their excellent selection of healthy/organic foods. read more

A great stock of natural food items, vitamins, and supplements. I have almost always found what I am looking for in here. Yes it has that typical vitaminy smell that isn't too welcoming, but you get over it :). The staff has always been extremely nice and extremely helpful. My Mom and I searched the store with a worker there for a good 25 minutes once and she was so great. Staff is super helpful and friendly, and have ordered me items they don't sell or carry or will send me somewhere they KNOW I can get it elsewhere. I always come here first because I know they will make sure I find what I need no matter what! Prices are not too high, save some coin buying in bulk then available. They sell sweet grass milk and do the return, but no chocolate milk! They even have a bottle your own alkaline water station. It's a fun store to browse, not just food and supplements, they sell beauty products from deodorants to makeup, candles, travel bottles and nut milk bags. This is not a store that I frequent often, nor would I claim to be someone who is well versed on natural foods or organic medicine. But to me; it seems like this store literally has everything! From clothing, to make-up, to vitamins, produce, frozen foods and weight loss...you will find it here! I came in years ago for a liquid herb to help increase my breast milk production, recommended by my doctor, and they had it here! (Worked like a charm!) I came in once to help a friend detox off of alcohol and start a healthier life style and one of their employees showed me products to aide in this, from detox bath salts to herbs and vitamins that cleanse the liver, etc. I was VERY impressed. I did a raw diet "challenge" and found some really cool protein supplements here, chia seeds, vegetable protein powders, granola, etc. I would recommend this place for your daily healthy foods and even for more particular life changes, sicknesses, and overall health. I appreciated the fact that the staff let me peruse the store for a while and didn't harass me. Just nice and friendly. They didn't carry the item I was looking for but I still wanted to look around. They have a sale right now on NOW brand essential oils so I bought some. A convenient one stop shop for the health minded. Everything from food to supplements. It saddens me to see that Sunrise Natural Foods in Auburn is exhibiting blatant disregard for the health and safety of their customers and community. When I visited yesterday, staff were not wearing masks, no social distancing, signs on the door encouraging customers to exercise their "choice". "Personal choice" is not just a personal choice when doing something so simple as wearing a mask and social distancing can save lives, and ignoring a statewide mandate in an emergency situation is absolutely ridiculous. I was a loyal and regular customer -- no more. After speaking to several staff members who unapologetically defended their right to flout the rules because they are "uncomfortable," I took my business elsewhere, and will continue to do so. I'm not overly paranoid, I don't sanitize my groceries or think that Covid can magically infect you from ten feet away -- but this was the first time I've actually left a store because it felt so unsafe. Sunrise Natural Foods, why aren't you concerned for the health and safety of your customers? Why ignore the rules when so much is at stake? We DO have a choice: To show our care and concern for the safety and comfort of others, or to show our selfishness and lack of compassion. Your management and staff are apparently choosing the latter, and I and my family will choose not to shop at your stores until you change your policy. Never disappointed when I go here. They are always so knowledgeable with the supplements and brands. Anytime I have a question, I know I can go here and get exactly what I need the first time around. I could find some of the items much cheaper on Amazon, but it's like playing darts blind. Here, I know that my questions are going to be answered and I'm going to get the personalized help I need. But I do wish they would carry honey more local to the area, like form Loomis or Newcastle. It would save me time from having to hunt around the local farmers markets. They always ask the right questions in order to provide me with the best product match for my needs..... they help me find exactly what I am looking for.
