This store is kind of like a landmark point when traveling up to see my mom…read more She lives in the Georgetown area and to my disappointment, there are a bunch of twist and turn style roads to get up here from the 916. One particular recent visit (to organize mom's house! home edit anyone?) I had just taken my cat to the vet for a routine check up in Folsom, so I wanted to get on the road right after. About halfway into the drive up, started to smell either a bad fart or my poor kitty had gotten car sick....and sure enough, she had pooped under the seat. Poor thing. Must've felt like a boat ride in choppy waters. She was fine and luckily enough, we arrived soon after, but I decided to stop here just before Mom's to see if they carried any of those pet friendly enzyme odor fighting chemicals. Found one that is pet safe, organic, and plant based so a few spritz of that, we were good to go. What I did notice here is that the market is well kept, smelled clean (always a good sign), pretty well organized, I was able to find everything I was looking for despite not being familiar with the general store layout. Staff were friendly too. I would definitely stop here again. Even the Deli looked yummy! Might get a fresh sandwich to go next visit.

We will no longer be shopping at this store. Once again I checked the receipt and was over charged,…read more Shelf pricing does not reflect the check out price. My husband told me to give it a chance because it could be just a simple mistake and I did over and over again. In my opinion it's not a mistake. Now I understand why they will ask if you want a receipt. That in itself is not appropriate ,you always hand the customer a receipt and if they refuse it then so be it. The heffer at the register was rude when I called her out on it. In her mind it's only a few cents or a dollar or more so it's perfectly normal. (idiot) That is not the point. It's the principal! Price gouging is stealing period. In my opinion they obviously take full advantage of the ignorance in that stagnant town. Get your receipt and check it and then grow a spine and speak up. A few cents times a few hundred people is a good chunk of change.

If you were to ask the 400 or so residents of Dutch Flat which drink they prefer, the overwhelming…read moreresponse would be Bud Light. That makes Abe the biggest Bud Dealer in the area :P - This store is the Lifeline of Dutch, when the snow hits, you better believe that Abe will be there, when the hunger hits, Abe will be there, when the Diapers need Changing, Abe will be there (to sell you the diapers, not change the baby) As a community, Dutch Flat would not be what it is without the Trading Post. In fact, I hereby decree that on your way to Reno or Tahoe, you are required to stop by Dutch Flat Trading Post and support the most important local business in town, Abe's. WE LOVE YOU ABE!!!!!!

I'm here to say the only bad one star review from I dunno who, but not listed as from DF should be ignored. ABE has been the only owner I have ever known in the past 18 years - he is dedicated to this town, to this community. The pricing is posted and more than fair - he is here rain shine or massive snow. If power is out he is STILL here to serve our community and he is well loved throughout. If you're ever lucky enough to see Dutch Flat and shop in this circa 1800's Trading Post - you will savor the experience, this little store and this historic town. 5-star all the way!

I was going to stop for lunch down the road in Downieville, but the town was absolutely swamped…read morewith people, because of a big bike race this weekend. I'm glad it actually worked out that way, because this place was absolutely amazing! Such a cool little country store. Groceries, drinks, beer, snacks, some hardware, toiletries a small wine/liquor section in the back, and a great little deli. There were cute signs all over the walls. I decided to try a cup of "luau Larry's. not so famous homemade chili." The very nice and friendly lady working in the store said that "luau Larry" is her husband. Let me tell you, he makes an amazingly fine chili.... For a 'cup" of chili, it was huge! I enjoyed it very much. I found out that the chili is made with ribeye! It was delicious. It was Hearty, it had a deep rich flavor, and it had a nice little "kick" to it. Well, within what I like for spicy. The lady in the store did tell me that Larry "tweaks" the recipe a little bit from time to time, but she says it's always a great chili. I do not doubt that at all. She asked me if I wanted cheese and onions, and I said, of course! I love fresh purple onions. They are both sweeter and milder than the white or yellow onions. They really added to the chili, as did the cheese. The chili and a soda ran me about 11 bucks. A little bit high, sure, but this is a tiny town up in the middle of the mountains. I get it. Besides, for the quantity and quality, it was worth every single penny. I would come back just for another cup of that chili. Thanks.
