Briarpatch has become my go-to for groceries and specific items while I'm In the area. This particular store is conveniently located right off the main drag on your way to Grass Valley from Sacramento area. Pro's: -It is always clean. -Bathrooms are private and kept tidy -Staff is friendly and polite -If you're low tox or just conscious about what you put in your body, they have lots of options -Large organic produce department - Sometimes you can get great deals from sales Cons: - Prices seem to go up on my staple items too regularly. Nearly every visit on some items. - Yes, you will pay more for many items - smaller than the GV location, so less options on some items (also less busy and roomier aisles) Overall, we love BriarPatch, and hope one opens up closer to us someday. In the meantime, we will frequent this location when we drive through!

Grand Opening day and there is a line around the building!

Service and quality of the food is beyond any other store. Small but mighty! And their sandwiches are really delicious as is the salad bar.

The food has been always been top-notch and the service is fantastic. The wait staff is professional, well trained, and a pleasure to deal with especially Anne Marie. I have only one complaint. Last week when we went for breakfast on Sunday, we were told that they no longer have their housemate hollandaise sauce. We've been having salmon Benedict's there for years and their hollandaise sauce is absolutely fantastic. Canned or packaged holiday sauce is not going to cut it. You never ever change the menu when you have such a a great thing going for you. I think that they have rectified this problem. I sure hope so because I don't know where else I would go for breakfast. Bring back the housemate hollandaise sauce! This place is too good and has been so good for years to mess it up with a silly change like that.

I saw some pancakes go by and the name "Awful Waffles" makes my VEGAN self a little envious. Happily, I had enough to choose from that gave me some VEGAN friendly option! I chose the "Triple Veggie Sandwich". It was fabulous! We loved our food server but the best part was the food runner, Braydon. Super chill and has the best "sure, no problem" attitude!

I celebrated my clients birthday yesterday!!…read more Happy Birthday, Dianne!!!! She picked Awful Annie's so she could enjoy an Awful Annie's Famous Body Mary! It had a touch of spice and was garnished with celery, a green olive, a spicy green bean, pepperchini, a lime, and a pearl onion. For lunch, we decided to order of the weekend specials menu! I ordered the Carnitas & chorizo Huevos Stack and she ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dip... service was good. While we waited for our food, my client had to use the restroom twice. From where we were sat, it was quite a long walk, but it was an accessible ramp she was able to use since she has a cane. The steps would've been too much for her. When our meals arrived... both were stunning. My huevos Stack was not all it was cracked up to be. Although they had great crispy tortillas underneath, it had a lot of other soft foods on it that didn't give it much texture. Refried beans, over medium eggs, pico de gallo, red enchilada sauce, and not much meat on it to go around the plate to even it out. Dianne's Country Fried Steak Dip looked and tasted like it was created by someone that knows their breakfasts! Between 2 slices of parmesan toasted bread, there was a thin country fried steak, with over medium eggs, cheese, and BACON!!! And a side of gravy to dip into. That was a million times better than the huevos Stack! So I politely asked our server if I could switch to that special. She got the order in right away and it was out fast. Every bite had the perfect amount of flavor and their sausage gravy tasted insanely good! Both my client and I went home worth half of our meal. She was so happy and it melted my heart that I helped her have an amazing birthday. With the help of Awful Annie's, they helped her birthday become a home run!!! Delicious bloody Mary's, double delicious on our Country Fried Steak Dips, and fine service from the best in town! Thank you Awful Annie's!!

Happy Easter everyone!…read more Today, my daughter and I went out to breakfast here at Sweetpeas. It is located off the freeway on the corner of Bowman and Luther roads. There was plenty of parking when we pulled in. As you walk in, you seat yourself. I hadn't been here before, but my daughter has. When we sat down (table and chairs kinda place), one server got us a couple of waters while we were looking over the menu.. perfect, because that's what we love to drink. After we decided on what we wanted I got a chance to look around at the decor on the walls. It felt very family friendly with baby pictures on the walls, signs, coffee mugs along the restaurants name spelled out on the wall. It was very cute and cozy. My daughter ordered the Carnitas Omelet (Carnitas omelet with jack cheese, black beans, red onions, avocado, and black olives, topped with sour cream. Served with sourdough toast and fresh fruit) with strawberries. I ordered the Huevos Ranchero's with eggs over medium (Corn tortillas, refried beans, 2 eggs, sour cream, avocado, homemade salsa, and cheese cheese. Also served with a side of salsa.) We didn't wait long, it arrived within 10 minutes. Also, after smelling their delicious coffee, I had to have a cup! A+!!!! My daughter let me try her Carnitas Omelet. Their Carnitas is on point! It was tender and has great flavor! Her omelet was beautifully cooked, being that it was gorgeous, yellow and fluffy. My Huevos Ranchero's was crispy in the bottom as I requested. I love the topping of avocado. The only thing I would change is to get all the salsa on the side. There was quite a bit on the Huevos Ranchero's themselves and it was a little overwhelming. Next time, I'll order it completely on the side. The menu has it listed as homemade... it tasted a little bit like it was Pace chunky salsa. I didn't even touch the side of salsa that also comes in the side and I wasn't sure what the extra side of tortillas was for, but I took those home. My daughter took home about half of her 3 egg omelet and some toast. Maddy was a great server. Everyone helped each other out by doing coffee refills for all tables (not just their own), running out hot food, and helping clean up tables as people finished their plates. Great team work! We paid up in the front and we're on our way. BE SURE TO TIP YOUR SERVER FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK!

Very friendly and helpful staff and at least one of the ladies spoke Spanish to the children nearby and I thought that was amazing! The coffee was good my breakfast was cooked perfectly. They are famous due to its iconic appearances in pop culture, primarily the classic movie American Graffiti (immortalizing its 1950s drive-in vibe) and the 1970s TV show Alice (creating the "Kiss my grits" catchphrase), cementing its status as a nostalgic American landmark with multiple locations and theme park presence. Lots of memorabilia and they even have small jukeboxes on each table. Stepping into the Original Mel's was like stepping back in time. The menu has lots of choices, from full breakfast items to complete dinners. I opted for breakfast. I order the Wolfman (shoutout to Wolfman Jack, American disc jockey). My breakfast consisted of two eggs (cooked to order), hash browns, two pancakes, warm syrup, two strips of bacon, slice of breakfast ham and one sausage patty. Breakfast was good but my only complaint would be that my pancakes were rubbery (basically I needed a knife to cut it). I would eat here again. Our service was on point and efficient. Restaurant was clean as were the restrooms. Plenty of parking. The ambiance was casual and it was a bit loud.
