Most of the caregivers were wonderful people. The problem with this facility is the administration. Communication is horrible. As a family member it's never clear who to call for what issue. But worse is the significant turnover at the admin level. We went through three different directors of healthcare, three assistants to that role, two directors of memory care, and multiple other administrative position changes. I raised my concerns - we'd have "team meetings", but things would not improve. And just when I thought I had a good go-to point person I'd learn that that person left. I finally moved my mother to another (smaller) facility, and it's been night and day - SO much more attention and better communication. The Tradition also passed along huge rent increases every year. A modest rent increase may be reasonable, but these were huge - well beyond inflation. The whole operation makes the customer feel like just a "number" on a spreadsheet . . . it's all about the profit. They nickel and dimed on little things like a meal to the room, or one more medication beyond a given tier. Just felt heartless. Again, not the care givers themselves, but the management.

How do you go behind someone's back and stick their mother in a fourth floor apartment when she is afraid of heights? Id give this place zero stars if I could. I just saw my sisters kids for the first time in since my mothers funeral because my sister blames me for what Amy did. I miss my mother and Amy could not care less.

Since that time the facility changed management & became The Preston of the Park Cities. My mother has been a resident since the place first opened as Harbor Chase. The place is gorgeous and they are far more creative with their food and menus than any other place we initially looked at. Although there has been turnover in staff over the years, the best key players on staff stayed & have become real assets to the place. When Covid hit we were tremendously concerned about how this would be dealt with and how the residents would be protected. Watermark, who is the management company have done a phenomenal job handling the pandemic and keeping residents safe and their families well informed. The staff & residents were fully vaccinated by late January. Finding a great place for a parent, spouse or relative who needs assistance can be a very trying time in everyone's life. You'd be hard pressed to find a better place for them than The Preston of the Park Cities.

The facility is upscale. They know the residents and show so much grace and respect. There is always activity - singing or shows. When it's time for a facility like this you want to trust that your loved one is happy and safe. This is a wonderful choice.

However, after some issues we had, we were told to get said issue fixed and then we can move in. But after almost 2 weeks of me calling and emailing and getting NO communication back, they went ahead and leased the unit I was in the process of getting. Yvette was trying to take over our lease and it resulted in Nikol not getting paid for touring. Long story short, avoid this place unless you actually enjoy being blatantly ignored. (Plus they obviously don't care about quality of their work, when touring the apartment, while it was nice, you could tell the quality of the work was dog doo-doo. Painted over nails as if the piece was all one, broken sliding glass door, etc. just avoid. Except Nikol, you were great

We moved all our mother's furniture and items into Monarch in the midst of her taking a decline in health, going from her Independent Living apartment to physical Rehab facility to UTSW Clements in 5 short weeks.. She never got to see her new apartment as 2 weeks into what would have been her first month at Monarch, she had to be transferred to TBoone/Faith Hospice. Since she was paying both for her last month in the IL Apartment, plus Monarch, we asked for some financial refund consideration from Monarch given that Mom was unable to move in (in fact she passed yesterday, 12 hours after hospice). We can't thank Monarch enough for how reasonable, compassionate, and caring they were toward her situation (and of this writing they don't even know she's passed). They agreed to do something for us in terms of a credit consideration that was most appreciated and above-and-beyond. These are good people running Monarch. We so wish our mom would have agreed to move sooner as she would have thrived here.
